Re: Green Bobcats
I know of 4 so far who have applied. The current coach, Jr. Hi coach, former JV coach and someone who no one knows anything about. Since no teaching jobs are open, It will be next to impossible to find someone outside this immediate area willing to apply.
The Board meeting is on the 20th of this month, I don't know if anything will be decided then.

Re: Green Bobcats
Are there two coaching positions to be hired.? Varsity and JV. If so then why not give it to two of the 4 that applied. I thought the former JV coach under Hopper did a great job considering the circumstances that he was dealt, and last years JV turned Varsity coach did a great job under an extrodinary amount of pressure. I think both are deserving of a chance and both would do a great job if given a chance. It seems to me the former JV coach would be a top candidate because I'm pretty sure he has coached under coach lewis, and already knows the system that the fans of green basketball have come to love.

Re: Green Bobcats
I'm hearing thru the grapevine that it has been offered to the Jr. High coach Bobby Blanton.
Re: Green Bobcats
he's not ready. but its the buddy thing and
his cousin husband is on the board now
Green will never get the program back
to were it once was until they wake up
just because you like someone as a person
doesn't make them a coach. Bobby is a fine
young man but he is not ready to coach high
school basketball

If this is true, its a shame Coach Fraley was dumped on.He deserved a chance, but he was told this would happen before he applied. There's no question its the buddy system good loe boy syndrome at Green, but when no one else applied it doesn't leave much room either. Good luck Coach Blanton

Re: Green Bobcats
Coach Fraley was dumped on as well as Coach Blankenship. But really would you expect anything less at this point from the Green Board Of Education. Class really isn't in their vocabulary. How many losses does it take before the board and the fans turn on the local boy? Coach Fraley and Coach Blankenship should be counting their blessings that they didn't get this job!
Re: Green Bobcats
Blankenship wouldn't be right for the job
he worked under Hopper who wasn't a very
good coach and helped kill the program.
not all of the school board are bad.
some just don't use good judgement sometimes.

Re: Green Bobcats
Flash, your right about Blankenship, he did work under Hopper. However, that is a very big misconception about him helping kill the program. He had nothing to do with the varsity program. As matter of fact he didn't even practice with the varsity. All he did was sit the bench and keep stats. From the outside looking in people see Blankenship under the Hopper era as not playing his best players for more than two or three quarters sometimes only one on the JV. What people don't know is that Hopper only allowed him to play certain players that amount of time because he was saving quarters and using these kids on varstity. What people don't know is that same JV team under Blankenship played the varsity to a tie and sometimes even beat the varsity in practice. What people don't see is that he coached very successfully at Green Jr High for about 4 years before coaching as an assistant under Coach Lewis for about 4 years. No, he did not help kill this program. Anyone at all affiliated with Coach Lewis's program in the 90's and early 2000's know that Coach Blankenship ran the exact program, exact same plays and the kids played just like they did for coach lewis. That was HARD! They may not always won the game, but one thing was given. You was going to see charges taken, defensive pressure and bodies on the floor. So, I respectfully disagree with you about him not being right for the job and killing the program.

Re: Green Bobcats
Before people begin critiquing my quote. Let me clarify something th jv didn't practice with the varsity, but sometimes they would scrimmage the varsity in the varsitys practice.
