Greenup @ Burg 4/14

Post by CleanupMan »

Game may be moved to Greenup due to the field conditions at Burg. I expect Greenup to lose due to their inability so far this season to hit the ball consistantly. Although Greenup did hit four HR in one game, it was against poor pitching fron Russell. IMO

I agree with the move since Greenup has an infield cover. Hope to get this one in as W'Burg has 5 rainouts so far 4 league games and limited open dates.

Should be a good ball game. The Pirates have hit the ball pretty well against both solid pitching and no so great pitching IMO. It will be interesting to see how far these teams have come since the scrimmage.

The eastern end of Scioto county is a lot dryer than the western side. Buldog, let me know if they are playing the game today.

Hopefully both teams come out swinging. I heard the game times might be JV at 4:30 and Varsity at 6:30. Both games should be fun to watch. 8)

I was just told the game was moved to Greenup and JV will play starting at 4:30 and playing until 6:30 and then Varsity starts at 7:00. Also, AEP is working on Electric at HS field as we speak.

Game time is at 7pm, but it's still raining here in the Burg and I would assume across the river.

Yet, there is a backup plan and looks as if the game will be played.

Last update Burg 6 to 1. GC has had 4 pitchers in the game so far.

Top of the 7th, 2 outs and Burg is up 13-6. Was up 9-3 and GCHS put 3 runs on the board in the 6th, but Burg comes back with 4 in the top of the 7th to take the 7 run lead.

GCHS coming to bat for the bottom of the 7th.

This is strictly on memory so plz people don't run over me if I miss something.

Burg hit the ball fairly well starting about the 3rd inning. Consistently put runners on and usually found a way to plate a couple each inning after that. Greenup scattered hits throughout the game but did not string them together to put runs on the board. Of the 3R in the 6th, 2 were from a couple mistakes, BB and passed balls. Need to cleanup some things defensively or it will cost us in a close one.

WP Montavan 4 innings 3R , Boyer 1 2/3 3R, Elliott 1 1/3 0R

Kemper 2-4 BB 2B 1 or 2 RBI
Elliott 2-4 ? BB RBI
Hopper 3-5 2B 2 RBI
White 2-3 2B 2BB 2 or 3 RBI
Boyer 1-4 (great bunt single)
Brown 2-4 RBI
Luster 2-4 HR 2 RBI
Leach 1-4 2B RBI

Sorry if I missed something... but that's all I can remember.

Great game and always a great crowd and atmosphere at greenup. Look forward to another matchup May 5th

Thanks Buldog. He still had it left up in the air with GC coming up to bat in the 7th.

I figured my prediction would come true on Burg vs GC. You guys were clearly the better team the other night. Hopefully, next time we will throw one of our top two pitchers and have a closer game. Elliott sure pitch well those last two innings. Also your first pitcher Boyer(I think) did well also. You guys should have another great season. :)
