Hey D2 followers:

What you folks sometimes forget is that the Mid-State League and the Muskingum Valley League play some very good VB.

FU got to the District tournament last year with a team of FR's and Sophs after getting kicked around in their league badly last year. And while they were 8-11 at the draw, if you look in the Central District tournaments, you will see a lot of Mid-State Buckeye teams like Amanda, Canal, and B-C in the District tournament as well.

The MVL has some bad teams in it, and some really good teams in it. Sadly the D2 district the top MVL schools play in is brutal, and Marietta can tell you all about a lot of those squads if I'm not mistaken. Sheridan was competitive with the top teams in the MVL this year even though they didn't beat the three schools above them in the standings.

In short, it is no surprise to a lot of us in the northern end of the district that FU and SH are in a district final, and eithe rone will give a good account of themselves in the Regional tournament.

Marietta can tell you about the ECOL.
I believe Marietta was 4-0 vs the MVL this year.

Some may not reach double digits.
South Gallia scored 21, 19, 19. So the answer to your question is yes.

The question was answered in the first of six games, yet it seems to have been a much more difficult question to get right going in than which two teams would win the contests!

FU got bitch slapped at the end of the season. Marietta kicked a kid off the team on the bus ride to the game! Change on the fly! Disorganized, may have had a reason the tigers lost.

6 District Final Match-ups:

Division 2: I don't know much about Fairfield Union or Sheridan. According to Jkumpire we "forget" but I would say that we have no knowledge of that part of our district. Don't hear anything about them----but I do know that the further north you go---usually the better the volleyball.

Waverly vs Athens should be a lot of fun to watch!!! I wish that the Southeast District allowed all 6 of these finals to be played at the Convo or another common site. I would love to go and watch all 6 district finals!

Division 3: Adena vs Zane Trace-----What place in the SVC did ZT finish--5th? Adena has won 98 consecutive league matches in a 7 year span and you can't expect ZT to break that run of spectacular play on Saturday.

Nelsonville vs Huntington----- Both of these teams were at the Alexander tournament on 10/8 but were the only 2 teams that didn't match up! This should be a very evenly contested match. Again a lot of fun to watch.

Divison 4: Reedsville vs Waterford----3rd meeting for these TVC Hocking rivals with Eastern sweeping the first 2.

Beaver Eastern vs South Webster----rematch from the 1st match of the season which Eastern took in 5, 15-13 in game 5. South Webster will have to play much better Saturday then they did tonight vs South Gallia to take down the Eagles.........

Wouldn't it be great to watch all of these matches on Saturday? I will be in Jackson to watch the Division 4 matches, but sure wish I could watch Athens vs Waverly and Nelsonville vs Huntington! Good Luck to all the ALETA girls!

svbt1112...
Just read an article in the Times about the So. Webster game and there was no mention of the Sullivan girl. I heard she had injured her leg. Will she be back for Saturdays game ?

Think I heard Adena in 3. Was listening in the car but apparently 94.3 doesn't stream live.
