Showdown: Chesapeake at Coal Grove
Showdown: Chesapeake at Coal Grove
Both teams are looking for a playoff spot. While Peake appears better on paper, this is for more than bragging rights and the Little Brown Jug.
Peake can score often and quickly from anywhere on the field, but CG is a traditional foe who usually plays its best against Peake. And they're playing in the Pat, with Big Daddy on the sidelines.
Tuff as CG is, I pick Peake by at least 2 TDs.
Will the Panthers claw the Hornets, or will the Hornets sting the Panthers?
YOUR thoughts?

I like how the roles are completely reversed from last year,,,now it is Chesepeake that has everything to lose,,,,lets see how they play on the road in a hostile atmosphere with playoffs and OVC at stake.

Re: Showdown: Chesapeake at Coal Grove
On paper, Chesapeake should win this game handily. However, history has showed us that doesn't matter in this one, particularly when a league title is at stake...see last year as a perfect example. I'm predicting a Chesapeake win, but I'm not going to be shocked if the Hornets find a way to steal a W and a conference crown at home.

Peake looks to be the better team but that doesn't always matter in this type of game. Good luck to the Hornets from Bulldog country.

This game being at grove hurts peake on how the game is called. Peake plays well under pressure. McMaster feeds off of a hostile enviroment. Leaving the Fairland game at grove some friends and I heard many adults talking bad about chesapeake and even making fun of Fairland's QB. Yes represent your team but do it appropriately. not 40 year old men against 17&18 years. hope to see Chesapeake stomp them on their turf! go peake

hopefully the Grove can pull out a win and clench the conference title! It's all on the line this game, we'll see who plays under the pressure!

Re: Showdown: Chesapeake at Coal Grove
Peake has generally played well at The Pat. But this game is a little more special for both teams this year. The one thing that could get Peake in trouble is TURNOVERS. While the Hornets will be keying on Mc Master, I believe if he gets by the initial defensive wall, he could turn any QB keeper into a big gain. Both teams have several capable backs, so it's hard to key on just one player.
The difference might be in the lines. While CG's is good, as usual, Peake has one of the biggest & best lines on both sides of the ball in the whole area, their best since 2003-4. I believe it'll be herd for CG to score more than 21 points against Peake, if that many.
I believe Peake's O is better than CG's D. Thus, I pick Peake by at least 2 scores.
But 'nuff talk. Let's decide it on the FIELD!
GO, PEAKE!

Weather may play a big role in this one may be a game where speed is out and just a good grinding game will have to win it.
I know Chesapeake has speed but can they power the ball if needed?

I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk on this game. Should be another Lawrence County special. I hope the Hornets gets the win

OVC title is on the line,,,,,hope for a better turnout tonight then last week for Fairland. It kills me how when the chips are down the people go running to watch other teams or just stay home,,,,,so much for team pride.
