15 applicants is what I was told. I know another coach tried to apply but was told he missed the deadline. The front runner is supposedly someone from Sheridan.

Re: Eastern Coach
That is a very good number for such a short period of time and no major listing about the position.

Re: Eastern Coach
I heard that there are several applicants, but there are two favorites for now. I hope it gets done soon, before school lets out. I hope at least one coach teaches at Eastern, or at least will teach there. I think that would help.

Re: Eastern Coach
The front runner for this job needs to be a local guy as Eastern does not need another 1-2 year & out guy. I believe there are at least a couple of applicants that fit that criteria.

Doesn't matter the CATS will whip their butts and send them home that night with plucked feathers.

Don't know about the best ever, but no matter how good he was he left us with... Well lets just say the one he appointed was not the best ever by a long measure.

My father told me, "You can't polish a turd". And that happens to be the case here. No matter how hard you try, it is always going to be what it is and it will always stink.
Do you reckon that sometimes no matter how much a coach does, or how good he is, that his teams are going to lose games? Once in a while you have less talent or that talent does not quite execute well enough to win however many games.
Re: Eastern Coach
Marshall your father told you that because you are his favorite turd. The problem with your reasoning is that some coaches, inculding several at Eastern, lose a lot more games than they win. Even if you can justify that by claiming lesser talent, a few years of this will get most coaches forced out.

Re: Eastern Coach
OK, I'm gonna take a risk and say a couple of things that people may not like. Imagine that!! SD and controversy, that has never happened!!!!!!!! LOL!!!
OK guys, let me have it. J/K.........
Here's what I've heard for the last two years with what I guess is now, the former coach..........
The athletes bought into the coach's philosophy, and worked their butts off. The big kids, the ones who make the difference in the trenches, didn't want to make the sacrifice and do the work, from what I've been told. So, take that with a grain of salt and slam me if you want.
I've been told that the strongest kid going into last season was a 140 lb. tailback, who could bench press at least 225.
Simply based on what I've been told, that says alot about the "state of the program" at Eastern, and not a negative about the coach.
It starts with the kids, and the support of the parents.
Now, blast away at me and call me an ignoramous...............LOL!

Re: Eastern Coach
thirty trap you are right on steel Gal doesn't seem to care much for EHS football. His track record on here proves that. He does love the basketball coach though. And I have heard that Howie's shoes need a good spit shine now and then.

Re: Eastern Coach
I smell bad, I deleted my post because it seemed a little too much for a high-school forum. When you bad mouth the only coach to take Eastern to the playoffs then that should tell folks how much he knows about football.
