What is there to say about this game boilermaker? Athens rolls into Wellston fri night throws up 40 or 50 points on the scoreboard Wellston may get 1 or 2 tds if the Athens puts the jv in, then game over. Athens goes home 9-0 Wellston gets another loss. That is what is going to happen.

I think Athens will struggle a bit in this one early, Skinner may not play to heal up a bit and with N-Y n the horizon it's gonna be tough for those kids to not look ahead. I still think Athens wins but they'll have to earn it especially being Senior night at Wellston and all of the emotion that adds.

Also weather conditions look to be very wet the next few days and the field at Wellston isn't all that great even with the new sod. I was on it Saturday and Sunday with the Athens youth kids and was amazed how torn up it was allready. I'm sure after another year of growth it'll be really nice but it didn't get much of a chance to settle before they had to play on it.

Nelsonville has a very good team! IMO hands down the best team Wellston has faced all year! I believe Nelsonville Would beat Jackson home or away!! But Nelsonville has alot of fans with no class like every team! Sorry to have to point that out! For Example 09

Sart a new thread for Nelsonville/Jackson. I think the players and fans heads would all explode anyway from being so inflated before they could even play a game. To Athens vs Wellston. I think Athens wins this one but I don't think it will be a blowout. With that being said I won't be suprised either if Wellston pulls the upset.

I'd say QB Michael Germano will get most of the snaps this week as Josh Skinner will most likely be resting his injured non throwing shoulder.

Seriously, if Athens (even if Skinner doesn't play) doesn't beat Wellston by 28 I'll be real surprised. I don't care if it's wet, dry, slick or if the field is lopsided, Wellston has NO chance. (Athens will take their lone loss with their playoff chances squashed next week).

By my calculations if Athens beats Wellston and loses to NY (which I don't believe will happen) they still will make the playoffs.

Yep,
An Athens win over Wellston gets them a spot in the Play-Offs...
A WIN over Both most likely gets Athens a Home Play-Off Game...

Gonna be an exciting 2 Weeks of Football...

Maybe, things seem to be stacking up against the Dogs this week. New starting QB, wet and sloppy field, senior night for Wellston, N-Y game on the horizon, etc....stranger things have happened. I'll say I'm nervous about this game without hesitation.

Has the Skinner injury been confirmed? Anybody could make a Coach Skinner username and post anything. Is this real? has anyone seen?

I'm 100% sure that is Coach Skinner - he's had a user name on SEOPS for a number of years.

Ive been told by a number of people that Skinner 'is most likely not going to play' Friday ... I can see Germano playing a lot - but also Sharp behind center a lot as well.

Definitely me. Joshua will not play Friday. The rest of his season is in serious doubt. He will be reevaluated on a weekly basis.

What a bummer ... thx for the info.

I know one side of me thinks ... 'ah just numb it so he can at least play next week - this season and these last two games are so big.'

The other side knows that come this winter, the last two games and football season will be a distant memory and Skinner will definitly be needed on the court. Being a big hoops fan as well, I really don't want to see a re-peat of what happened to Mitch Rider last year.

Talk about a quandry ... Sorry such a decision even exists Coach Skinner ... lets just hope for the best (that he heals quickly) and will get to do both!

You think its a bummer for you, How about a young man who is injured to the point where if he plays his last football game his senior season he may lose his senior basketball season that his dad is the head coach of. This is not at all easy for anyone but for sure this player. Hope you heal up soon. But win or lose the last one if they get the one tomorrow night they would have week 11 to hope for.

The comment about being a bummer was meant for anyone and everyone who wants Athens to do well ucantcme (in football, basketball, baseball, whatever) ... Its a bummer for the player, the coaches, the dad, the fans, his teamates, etc...etc... I could care less about me - not sure where you even got that thought from.
