You tell them Boilermaker Athens seems to forget a few years back when they played in the SEOAL with teams there own size they could'nt win a game I guess the crying has stop so now all we here is a bunch of loud noise about how they can beat up the little guy. Just remember what comes around goes around and my friend it won't be long.

Yea, Athens played 3 SEOAL teams this year and went 3-0. Athens has played 2 teams bigger than it (Warren & Chillicothe, which are D2) ... 2 teams the same size (D3) Gallia and (D3) Vinton County ... 3 teams one division lower Waverly, Coal Grove and Meigs ... and 1 team from Division 5 (Alexander)

Not to be critical of your assesment 93, but Coal Grove is a D5 also. We did still go 3-0 vs the #'s 2, 3, and 4 teams in the SEOAL which I believe is the point you were getting at.

I saw Athens play a few weeks ago and I think they are by far the best team I have seen play this year. Looking forward to trying to go and see the Athens/Nelsonville game next week. I think Athens should win over Wellston, (without Prater with no problems). Sharp is the real deal!!!

I've had an uneasy feeling about this game all week, C'mon Dogs focus, focus, focus. Wellston will pose a challenge tonight and the Athens kids need to be ready for it if they are going to win this game.

A-Town Big Dog. I have had that same feeling. I have seen most games this year with the exception of Gallia and Warren. I feel the dogs have played great at home but don't get up for away games as much in which they have struggled at times. I know they have won them all on the road as well as at home but Wellstons field is like Meigs, you never know what you will get and Wellston players will play their butts off tonight even if Prater is not playing. It can be a tough place to play amd I hope the dogs are not looking ahead to next week yet, got to get this one first.

One week closer to what we have been waiting for all season long: 9-0 Nelsonville-York @ 9-0 Athens with a league championship and undefeated season on the line for both teams! There is no other scenerio that could make for a bigger game than that! That is the perfect storm for a big game! As big of a rivalry Athens and Nelsonville have had going back to the beginning of high school sports, no game played in any sport will have had so much on the line as next weeks game! As long as Athens and NY take care of business tonight, we have our Dream Matchup next week!

Reminder that the broadcast of the game can be heard on 970 WATH. The Sports Fan starts things live from Wellston as we will talk TVC-Ohio Football. That starts at 6:06 and runs until 7.

Pregame for the Golden Rockets and Bulldogs starts at 7:15 with pregame at 7:30. Jake Corrigan and Justin Sampson will have the call.

You can listen online at athensi.com, just scroll down the right side and look for WATH AM.

Wouldn't it be nice for Athens to play Jackson in the playoffs. Consider you beat 3 Seoal teams by a few point and Jackson destroy those teams. They beat a Div. 1 School who would be 7 and 1 in our league.

You must be a fortune teller to know Jackson destroyed the SEOAL teams Athens has beaten considering they haven't played two of the three yet. Also which league are you talking about? The SEOAL has 6 teams so how could St. Charles be 7-1?

Wellston played hard in this game but Athens was just to much for the Rockets tonight. The Athens offense definately missed Chris Russell this evening but Michael Germano played very well in place of injured Josh Skinner. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on their win and on clinching a playoff spot. On a side note, I rarely complain about officiating but this crew was terrible, they threw more flags than I can remember (on both teams) and took forever to decide what the call was and mark off the yardages. The best thing I saw tonight was when the old back judge came to the sideline and his false teeth fell out on the muddy ground, he picked them up like a trooper and put them back in. lol

Athens 36 - Wellston 7 (I covered the point spread)
