Dave Parsons has all but clinched the job in Belpre.

Shoemaker left P-mouth for Minford? Is there a connection there?

Matt Mader is the new Notre Dame coach? Is it the same Matt Mader that played for Notre Dame in the past?

Shoemaker is Minford graduate. At Portsmouth he was having trouble being able to connect with the kids, and garnering respect. This is a good move for all involved. I have to believe that Josh will be a better fit at Minford, and Portsmouth will be better with Collins.

Does anyone know if they have found Josh a teaching position as well?

No, I am talking about the Matt Mader that played there around 5 years ago. He was a good ball player from what I can remember. Im not forsure we are talking about the same Matt Mader because there is no way he had a son that will be a Freshman.

Matt Mader that played a few years back is the son
of Coach Matt Mader. Coach Mader played at ND in
the late 80's

The girls coach at Trimble is now the boys coach and looks like Federal Hocking is the only one with out a coach yet. To bad since camps and shoot outs are currently going on.

Wonder why every coach that has been hired in scioto county has had a story in the PDT but not the Minford hiring?

Do you mean that there was actually an article (PDT) about the hiring of South Webster's new coach? I see or hear nothing about that situation for some reason.

Neither the Minford or South Webster administrations have informed us of new hires. Everyone we did a story on did inform us of this. Until we hear it from the AD, or an official of similar authority, it is not official and we will not print it.

If anyone is close with these school's athletic departments, please have them call me at (740) 353-3101 ext. 242 at their earliest convenience and I would be happy to report on it.

Understood. They either do not have a signed contract yet or the schools are dragging their feet on this.

Kahn, in my opinion, you should rethink your response.

The Sports Department is not permitted to make outgoing calls? Time was when reporters got the scent of a story and went after it.

Since your reemergence at the PDT, I was giving the Sports Department kudos for giving the PDT a major increase in quality.

I think the problem with the PDT is there are no longer any reporters but only Staff Writers. I think it would be a travesty if the Sports Department once again returns to this policy.

Vids4ckcrash,

Thanks for the kudos. We have made some calls to various schools throughout the offseason. I choose not to elaborate here but I will say of the last two schools/candidates we spoke too, both said that contracts had not been signed.
I don't understand the need to be so secretive but if an AD tells me no one has been hired/signed, then there isn't much I can do.

We are on the scent, so to speak, on these stories but until the schools or candidates confirm things, it is what it is.

Anyway, thanks for reading and keep an eye out. There should be a handful of more stories on coaches in the coming month pending confirmation.

John

EDIT: I recevied a call just moments ago concerning one position. Look for it in tomorrow's PDT.

That job wouldn't happen to be East would it....wish they would hire someone soon so they can get to some camps and shootouts.

Tartanblue,

Still haven't heard about East. I'll look into it again today.
