Wow @ the brick prices! We've been selling ours here at Point but I don't know how well they are doing. The bricks will pay for our entrance way to be completed this summer as long as we sell enough of them so, hopefully we sell enough.

I know the money raising is tough - everyone on our committee over here has worked extremely hard to get where we are in our progress. It's all worth it in the end.

Good luck to both schools.

I only said that because I know what looks people have given me when I have been selling them and our bricks are just $100 a piece. Just speaking from my own experiences in the past six months.

I understand where you coming from there. How many of us right now could just drop $200 bucks for something? Probably very few could. I know that if I wanted to pitch in I would have to plan for it in my budget and it would take a month or two to be able to give that much. I was just comparing the prices of the bricks for the new stadiums to the price of bricks at somewhere like the Columbus zoo. I would much rather keep the money local and have it be used for something for my (and other people's) children's benefit.

That reminds me of something that Woody Hayes said, "We can not pay people back for what they have done for us but we can pay forward!"

Have not seen any yet!

I believe people have been contacted to draw up the plans.

I'm lost. . . .why can't they just go to lowes buy some lumber and just build the same stands they have at sg. . . and then just add a 200 or 300 seater on the other side. . .

the ones they have aren't legal if your saying that doesnt meet standards, if the standards cared kids wouldn't have to put up with what they do at sg and river valley. . .

simple. . . cinder blocks with 2x8s to sit on. . 6 or 7 rows tall. . .

I dont know if it is possible to still make what I think would make alot of money for this but I will state it so it can happen if it may be able to make happen.

There is a 3 on 3 tournament called the gus macker witch is a national tournament and is held all over the nation and says it is in 50-75 communities each year and you can get it to be held in your town and at the time that you want it to be and you get the. Ironton started hosting this 3 on 3 tourny a few years ago. I am not sure on the ammount of the % of the profits that we would get if we host it but they will set the whole thing up and its ran by there rules and everything so most of the work would already be finished. All that we would have to do is shut down the streets for a few days and what ever else comes along with it

You can go to www.macker.com and you can look at it all for yourself at there website and there is a drop down bar at the top of the page that you can see about hosting a tournament.

But I seriously do think this would make alot of money and would more then likely be the largest amount that we get from 1 thing!

They absolutley do, and do a few others (Asics, Gatoraide come to mind immediately, but don't quote me on that).

They are plenty of ways to get the cash to get things done, but it requires a plan, a rock solid plan. Nobody seems to know if that exists yet.

That's because it doesn't exist Wildthing! If every cent that comes to the district didn't have to be shared by everybody, Gallia County Schools would have better facilities and equipment in every sport, especially at RV.

There wasn't a solid plan in for new schools in place when GCLSD decided to piggyback onto the "Red Dot Campaign" of the Gallipolis City Schools, and now the lack of planning shows.

Why would we expect anything different when it comes to the stadium projects?

And where would this clan of Pollyanna's who believe a plan exists reside?

It is probably very important to get this under control prior to the opening and operation of the new buildings. Once the costs are revealed to operate the schools, we will likely never see a field comparible to our competition, if at all. Thousands would have been saved by incorporating the field in the initial excavations. Two sites, the building and the field, could have been developed for one cost with cut and fill excavation.

Two years ago the principal of RV said that we should gather up any surplus building materials that we have around our homes and donate them to the effort. I fear that he may have been right.

What is the official position of the GCLSD administration on the facilities projects? Has anybody with authority said anything about getting these projects done?

If I were still coaching track at SG, the fact that the district track meet is being held at Oak Hill's top-notch facility these days would worry me greatly.

I don't mean to imply that Oak Hill would be using those things to recruit, but I am certain it enters kids' minds.
