The 2014 Athens team is the best to ever come out of SE Ohio imo. Some of the other teams mentioned may have been more physical but they wouldn't have handled the Athens athletes in space.

aj cousins- 2 year starter and team capt. of edinoboro univ. (d2 in football i believe)
brady cunningham- 4 yr starter at corner for a d3 college football team

chad tyler -went on to wrestle at findlay
seth maccarter- full ride scholarship to ohio state in track

that is off of ONE team at chillicothe
Yes, they should have went MUCH deeper in playoffs with that kind of talent

For Jackson, I think it's still the 1996 team.

In my opinion, they're still the standard for Jackson football, but I also didn't see several of Gene Slaughter's teams back in the 1950s. 2011 and 2014 Jackson, who both went 10-0, could have an argument as well, but the physicality of that 1996 team is unmatched at Jackson in my mind.

At the end of the day ironman02 lol it very well be the 1996 team, but for a tad longer there is one team that just said:

The most recent regional final Jackson team can attest to that.

Zero doubt Jackson will be killer on defense next year but I don't think the seniors get enough credit on this TEAM

Definitely hard to argue against this years Jackson team though. Very good chance to win this next game!

At times the games I have seen Jackson play they would return 5 starters on defense.
no doubt they have very capable backups for sure.

conley, jones, massie, sexton, barger and fulton are all seniors and start when not injured.

For an old curmudgeon, Waverly's teams 1967-1969 would have my vote. A know the latest generation of high school athletes are big, stronger, faster. and better trained, but players such as DeVito, Hance, Williams, Johnson, Schmidt, Varney, Adams, Foil, Welch, Kalfs, Downing, Dixon,
and even Pekala were great in their day. A record of 27-1-2 speaks for itself.
