Does the loss to Wellston hurt or help the Spartans chances vs Athens?

Congratulations to the Bulldogs for a good win. Alexander got off to a good start on defense and played well for a quarter then a combination of Athens stepping up and an injury to Trey Bennett caused the wheels fall off for the Spartans. Athens opened the second half with the JV QB while leading 24-0 and gave the JV team plenty of playing time this evening. Good luck to the Spartans in your final two games.

Dang Kicker from Alexander...
Blew my prediction score by 1 point...

I had
Alexander - 6
Athens ---- 40

It was
Alexander - 7
Athens ---- 40

Athens did an excellent job on Defense tonight holding Alexander in check for the entire night. I was extremely impressed by Athens moving the ball through the air. Both Josh Skinner and DeVon Sharp threw nice passes tonight and the Athens receivers played well. Cody Mack, Josh Maxon, and Sharp made some great catches tonight. Bobby Sebring played a wonderful game on the line for Athens and deserves a shout out since most linemen don't get the love. Chris Russell and Skylar Schwarzel made some huge hits tonight in this Renewed Rivalry game...

Athens may have caught a break in next weeks ball game against Wellston with the rumors of the Wellston Stand-out athlete's possible injury. I hope he is ok because he is a great kid and I was looking forward to watching him play next week. Hopefully his injury doesn't keep him sidelined, but if Wellston must play without their star Senior, they will get a week to prepare.

For Alexander it doesn't get any easier the rest of the Season. They play the (8-0) Nelsonville-York Buckeyes in Week Nine and then play the (5-3) Meigs Mauraders in Week Ten. Hopefully the Spartans Trey Bennett will be OK to play next week after being injured in the game tonight against Athens.

Great Win Tonight Bulldogs!
"Just WIN Baby!"
