I sure hope it all works out for the best. As for the superintendent, he does work for the school board, and history might indicate that it is the decision of the school board and the superintendent was just the fall guy on the decision.

I know all of the folks involved from Terwilliger, to McClelland, to Dave Sr. to Dave Jr.

Mick MClelland played for Dave Sr. - so did Ed Terwilliger. I have no knowledge of this particular situation, but somehow it just doesn't add up that Dave Jr. would be tossed out without some underlying reason. Now, that reason may or may not warrent Dave Jr. losing the football coaching job, but in today's politically correct society, who knows.

The newspaper article tells more than the words printed........Mick McClelland (without stating it) basically said - Dave boston Jr. is no longer the coach, there was a reason, but I'm not going to publicize it.

I'm guessing that sooner or later people will find out what happened. At that time, folks will make their decision as to the appropriateness of the administration's actions.

I'm not connected to the community nor do i know anything about NY football but all I'll say is the timing of this is pretty suspicious!

Finally got my activation and glad I can add my opinion. Now the mess we have has to be cleaned up.... Its up to some elected officials to do this. First as a Senior at Nelsonville york I want to tell everyone this is a total embarrassment for our entire student body. We have our prom, graduation and various senior activities that have been intenionally upstaged by our man in charge. Thanks for the timing and tact used as our school leader.
There is so much I cant imagine where to begin. First off David Boston jr. is a father figure to some of us that dont have that in our lives. Do any of the other teachers take the kids fishing, hunting or maybe just to get something to eat when he knows they may have not had anything to eat all day. He is the one that pays attention to the kids that otherwise would be pushed out the door. A waste of time as I have heard from higher ups. Whos there for us now!!! You guys see this coach that is fired up on the sidelines and didnt win his playoff games and want to go in an different direction. What direction will we go now. You dont know this man at all. Everyone is talking about underlying reasons. The reasons are a group of people in that school that hate this man and they run the school and there is nothing the board can do about it. I hope the board stands up for the students. We do have faith in you guys. I understan everyone works for you. Not the other way around. I know I will be slammed by the other side but there is so much more to deal with in our school system why was this done right now without any warning. And does the Board know that Dave Boston sr. is at practice everyday and every friday night at the games up in the booth. Do you know that you just fired him too?

this is just some food for thought. some schools have the rules that if you are in administration, you can't be a coach. this is a trend that popping up all over the state. could this be a new rule that nobody knows about yet and be the reason he is still an a.d. and not coach?

I,d have to say this was handled about as poorly as it could be.Maybe this is just a front, and the super is the one looking for a job.I have a feeling when it,s all said and done, his head will be the one on the outside looking in!!!!!!!!

Coach Boston is a great guy and coach but is it written any place that a Boston or member of the Boston family has to be the coach at Nelsonville? Obviously something was done wrong and action had to be taken. Good luck to Dave in the future.

Being down in Athens, it will be great not to have to see across the field Coach Boston...
**Coming from a Competitive look at things**

This is a HUGE mistake on the NY upper people and this will come back to haunt them...

Sorry to NY (fans/players)...The Bostons are celebrities in Nelsonville, how did it feel to smack them in the face...

There is no obvious anything to this. When the story comes out or people are actually able to see that NY must be the luckiest school on earth to score a coach from Cbus on the very day that Davey was fired. Now folks, that just doesn't happen without some prior planning. So I would say to those who say it is obvious, you are right. It is obvious that this stinks to high heaven and this has been in the works for some time.

There is Not a replacement in mind, the guy from the Columbus area has no intention of coming to N-Y and if he did would be a fool (which he is not) to step into such turmoil. This mess was intiated by former coaches with slanderous lies and rumors an continued by a power drunk administrator without just cause to do so.
I would hope that the board members have the integrity to right this wrong on Monday and then prevent any further such actions. The board has a responsibility to the community and the student body and should never have allowed this to continue for a day let alone six days. There are numerous issues that need dealt with in the schools that the head administrator should be focused on. FIRING OR ATTEMPTING TO FIRE AN INDIVIDUAL THAT CARES FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS SURE AS HELL SHOULD NOT BE ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Lets turn this around on Monday at 5:00 PM

He did run Coach Boston over the coals as soon as he went public. If he did not want to embarass him and his father and his family, he would have been given the opportunity to resign on his own terms. I honestly believe that Mick could not give an explanation because he doesn't have a legitimit one to offer, for if he did, than he would have been fired as AD. Totally classless!!

quote="Orestes"]This is chaotic.

However, I don't think you can get much from newspaper quotes. What do you want, the superintendent to run Boston over the coals in the paper? I'm not saying he has anything worth the firing, but if he did, he would be classless to blurt it to the paper.[/quote]

This mess could have been avoided if Dave was a teacher. If he wanted to coach long-term, he should have been a teacher. This is no mystery to him I'm sure. He was not fired because of his playoff record. He did not live up to what he was asked to do in all likelihood. Have you ever thought that this firing might be legit? It is done. There is no saving him. Tonight's meeting will be private. Sorry Bucks, but it is over. Maybe Dave is the one who let himself down. He is fortunate to have even coached not being a teacher.

If the meeting is private then there can be no action taken tonight.

But there can be a meeting beforehand that prevents action from needing to be taken at all tonight. Which, of course, would require the positive result everyone here seeks.
