Board meeting isn't until the 20th (next Wednesday). Don't imagine anything will be official until then....if it is true.

He even had a stint at Waverly! Are you sure he wasn't there recruiting for KCU. Last I heard he was loving the college life!

Re: Coach Tipton back at Eastern?
There used to be a Richard (Dick) Tipton who officiated basketball games on both the high school and college levels. Also, I thought a Dick Tipton coached the Portsmouth
Trojans a few years back. Is that the Tipton going to Eastern?

Dick Tipton as far as i can remember never coached @ Portsmouth but he had 2 seperate stints @ Portsmouth West. first time from late 70's thru early 90'sth
Re: Coach Tipton back at Eastern?
Coach Tipton would be a great hire. The man knows football. He needs to get a couple of coaches that are in the high school and Eastern might actually look like they know how to play the game. There is some decent talent if they all come out and actually break a sweat during two a days.Last year we had kids going swimming before practice.BACK IN THE DAY THAT WOULD NEVER CROSS MY MIND!!!!!!! When coach Tipton was there before they could at least play DEFENSE.That was before he was demoted from D cooridinator.GOT BEAT 16-14 and 7-0.Dang defense!!!!!!! Good luck and hard work to the EAGLES.
Re: Coach Tipton back at Eastern?
I would disagree with him being a great hire[no commitment],hes not the same guy i played for when he was in his prime as a high school coach back in the day.just my opinion

Tipton will do a good job and as far as the best Eastern could get goes, I was talking to the guys over at the Cool Spot, and a friend of mine said that at least two applicants didn't apply because they heard that the superintendent already had his mind made up on Tipton before they posted the job. my buddy said it was the same deal as with hiring welch. the super had made up his mind long before interviews that he wanted welch and that none of the other applicants had a chance.

As sad as it is Tommy you are correct. The super at Eastern has the board on puppet strings! He says jump, they don't ask how high, they already know to jump as high as they can! (at least 3 of them anyway)!
Not that I don't think Coach Tipton won't do a fine job at Eastern, but why not leave the door open and listen to some other applicants? I mean it's not like Tipton is going anywhere for a week or two.
