Vinton County, the are to basketball what Nelsonville is to football. They win the league every year.
prepster wrote:What coach has been in the TVC the longest?

It would be Coach Combs. He has coached the last 8 years or so. No other coach can say that.

prepster wrote:Who has the most wins total in the TVC history? Overall wins?

Don't know. Derrow has coached 3 times as long as any other coach. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if Combs has more wins. Combs' winning percentage has to be much better. Blaine Gabriel also has to have a lot of wins.

Interesting - If somebody in the know or has facts in regards to these topics please post. Combs and Vinton has been really igood in the league lately- I know Belpre and Wellston were really good in the late eighties and early ninties. Garrett and Derrow won alot of games during that time, even Pettit had some good teams at Trimble.

I see the TVC Ohio shaping out like this
1. VC- should dominate again, would be surprised if they lose a TVC game
2. Alex- lost some great players, but have solid players coming up
3. Belpre- New coach who knows
4. Athens- Could finish as high as 2nd, largest school in TVC
5. NY- Have some good young players
6. Meigs-Lost some major talent
7. Wellston- could finish 5th, we'll see what happens with Derrow coming back

BGVike,For the most part, I agree with you. However, I could see VC possibly loosing one or two road games, in conference play. But, on a positive note for them, I see their closest contender loosing 3 or 4 road games.

Viking Fans

You have a really good incoming freshmen class. Who are some of the better players in that group and do you think any of them will help at the jv level this coming season.

The Vikings participated in the Otterbein Shootout today. The Vikings went 4-0 on the day, by beating Fairfield Union, Greenon, Licking Heights, and Columbus Brookhaven, these victories came without the services of Senior Point Guard Andy Grillo who temporarily sidelined with a broken finger. There are good days ahead for the Vikings.

I would have to say VC rolls again this year. There may be a few shockers this year, but nothing that we haven't seen the past couple of years. It wouldn't shock me at all to see Meigs last. Lost a lot of players and need to re-bulid badly.

VC went 17-3 in the regular season last year (undefeated in the TVC). They have 4 returning starters from that squad, and a very, very deep bench. Add this to the great summer they had despite the starting 5 never playing a game togther due to injuries. I look for VC to have a another great year, another TVC championship(wouldn't ne surprised to see them go undefeated again), another sectional title, and perhaps another district final.

Coach Combs does a good job of preparing his teams, they are well coached. Now, I do agree that sometimes their supporters get on this site and help to stir the pot, especially with the folks from Wellston.

Vinton County, then maybe Alexander , then the rest of the division.

LOL I was reading these and thought WOW!! We were all pretty much wrong at this point in the season!
