SE District Division II

Post by bman »

According to the new divisional projections, Meigs and Northwest should go down to D3, which leaves 18 schools as D2.

Zane Trace is going to be close to moving up to D2.
They have big classes going through 9-11 right now.
I heard that they are going to be D2 in boys soccer, so that means at least 211 boys.
I predict 217-220 boys with the cut off 224 for boys basketball.

ZT is 211 and the cutoff is 224 so they'll be D3. I would not be shocked for them to go up to D2 eventually, as could Westfall.

BTW...Off subject but what did ZT lose off of last year's team and who is stepping up? They had a pretty good ballclub last year and was wondering if they can knock off Piketon this year?

They should be pretty good.
I think they only lost one starter. If I remember, they ended up like 14-10.
From what I saw last year, their offense needs to improve.
I am sure shooting guru Coach Hinton will improve that this summer.

.......and yes bman, ZT will be D2 eventually. I would guess the next count in two years.

I see that Oak Hill boys basketball will be DIII this year. Girls also stay at DIII.

i guess norm brought in too many recruits to stay d4. they probably should have been d3 last year if all of the transfers were counted.

It didn't matter how many recruits anyone brought in last year. The count was from 2 years ago. They do the count every two years.

Who will compete with L.E. and Chilli this year. Both those teams lost a lot but IMO are at the point where they both reload, not rebuild. Can anyone challenge them?

I would say Logan Elm will still be the best team in D2. They lost some key players, but still returned a big portion of last years team. Chillicothe will have to rebuild somewhat. They will be athletic yes, but still very inexperienced and young. I would keep on eye out for Hillsoboro, Waverly, and Vinton County also.

Logan Elm lost their top 2 scorers, Tim Congrove and Brandon Amann......the Braves will be good again, as they have consistently been posting a lot of W's over the past 6-7 years, but Coach Stiverson has a big challenge to find some perimeter shooting for 2009-2010........and that has been the Braves' staple during their run of success.

LE might actually be more oriented to kicking it down low to Pritchard and Hauserman next year........come March, the Braves will be a threat for the district title once again.

I think Waverly will make a strong push for the D2 regionals, with Derek Roback, Harrison Martin, and Jake Kretzer all returning. I saw them at the OU shootout and they are talented........and by the time March comes they should be a real tough out in the postseason.

Martin, Kretzer & Roback should have a good supporting cast and with some newcomers the Tigers just may end up at the convo for the first time in many years.

Waverly will still be a young team but they will be pushed to play hard. The SOC will be very strong and the sectional promises to be as tough as ever! Waverly opens with Logan Elm, and the early season schedule is very tough- lets just hope they dont struggle out of the blocks and lose confidence.

I thought Waverly had some of the best talent last year but couldn't click. The SOC will really be fun to watch.

I'll be watching for Sparky at the concession stand buying all the sour candy cause it matches his posts.

Logan Elm is replacing Brandon Amann and Tim Congrove.

They return Adam Blake, Logan Hauserman and Tyler Pritchard among others. They finished second at the Wheeling Shootout, losing to Massillon Jackson in overtime of the title game. They should be pretty good, but replacing Congrove and Amann will be very tough.

The Logan Elm-Waverly matchup could be affected by both school's football teams - late start, not quite in bball shape, etc.

Chillicothe has 331 boys.
Division I cut off is 400 boys
Looks like Chilli is DII
