Just make the show about Nelsonville-York..that sums up the TVC right now...Hands down

Its statements like that is why people hate NY, and would love to see us fail.Yes Nelsonville is good but what about the other teams. Alexander and Athens are both undefeated to. Alexander has played a pretty easy schedule but have scored a ton of points, while Athens has played a pretty tough schedule but has been able to pull of the win every week. Meigs and Wellston arent that bad off either this year and stand a decent chance at beating Alexander and Vinton Co is well saving themselves for basketball again this year i guess. Goodluck to all the tvc teams the rest of the season, but were putting more paint on the wall this year.ButterFingers wrote:Just make the show about Nelsonville-York..that sums up the TVC right now...Hands down

There will more than likely be TWO TVC Ohio teams in the playoffs. 3 or 4 of the teams will have winning record at the end of the year. Does it sound like this league is just abut NY? No it is not.

Turns out... the TVC also has a 'Hocking' division.ButterFingers wrote:Just make the show about Nelsonville-York..that sums up the TVC right now...Hands down

Yeah because people never pretend to be followers of teams that they do not, in fact, follow.bucks_09 wrote:Its statements like that is why people hate NY, and would love to see us fail.Yes Nelsonville is good but what about the other teams. People troll these boards constantly.
People hate NY because they win and because their followers act like every fan-base that wins.
Show a list of past TVC Football Champions to a person unfamiliar with the area, and if that person has common sense, he or she would select NY as the most hated program in the conference.
Success breeds contempt.

Re: Talking TVC-Ohio and Hock Football on the Sports Fan TOD
I am wondering if Athens and Alexander have turned the corner and established winning programs or if they are just experiencing a few years of success? I am hoping they have turned the corner because it is good for the TVC OHIO to have several winning programs.
If Athens and/or Alexander have established winning programs year in and year out, that all of a sudden changes the dynamics of the TVC. All of a sudden, you could have Meigs, Wellston and Vinton County playing at a level that at one time would have been good enough for second in the league in most years that would now only be good enough to stay out of the basement of the league standings. That's huge for our league if we want to make a strong showing in non-league games year in and year out.
It could be that Athens and Alex are only having a string of good seasons. This has been the case for Wellston, Meigs and Vinton County in the past. I guess we will find out over the coming seasons how Alex and Athens handle themselves on the field in varsity games down to the lower grades.

I'd say they've turned the corner. I remember a couple years ago when people were asking the same question. It was '09, or '08, I believe, and the Bulldogs were losing a ton of seniors in the trenches. Many believe that Athens would fall back down to earth after that season, but as you can see, that hasn't been the case.NYBuckeye96 wrote:I am wondering if Athens and Alexander have turned the corner and established winning programs or if they are just experiencing a few years of success? Alexander has turned the corner with it's football program, without a doubt. Compared to what this team was doing just a few years ago, this team looks like world-beaters. In terms of being a legitimate threat in the playoffs like Nelsonville and Athens, who should both win at least one playoff game, I think they need to beef-up their schedule. They could end-up being like the N-Y teams earlier this decade, minus the conference titles. Until they play some stiffer competition, I think they'll have successful regular seasons, and make some playoff appearances, but bow-out in the first round more often than not.

One has to MAKE the playoffs to lose in week 11. The Spartans will find out that the weakest schedule in the state won't let them sniff the playoffs this year.
