Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Ironman92 said But if Jackson plays Athens or LE it guarantees one of them to week 12.
True 92 , but would like to see all 3 make to week 12 then for sure have on in week 13 maybe

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
How bout some scenarios for region 12. Jackson finishes 10-0 Athens 9-1 Where are they seeded? If Athens finishes 10-0 and Jackson 9-1 where do they finish and can jackson make it at 9-1?
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Still waiting on a bunch of scores.
If Jackson is 10-0 and Athens is 9-1, their computer averages are VERY close. It looks to me that Athens will edge out the Ironmen, but that could change with even one unexpected outcome by one of their opponents. Athens is a lock for the playoffs at 9-1, and I'm pretty certain that Jackson is too. If Gallia Academy beats Jackson, they may be able to sneak in, but I don't think they will actually pass Jackson.
Jackson is basically going to be the #6 or #7 seed. Athens could be anywhere from #3 to #6, in my opinion. I'll be able to give more pinpoint scenarios once I get all the scores from this week's games. I will be out of town tomorrow, so it might not be until Sunday when I'm able to post all the information.

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
And the Coal Grove vs trimbe game being ruled a forfiet gives Athens 3.5 2nd level points. Its not much but every little bit counts.
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Forgot about that. That basically makes it impossible for Jackson to pass Athens. I don't really think it was possible anyway, but that guarantees it.bucks_09 wrote:And the Coal Grove vs trimbe game being ruled a forfiet gives Athens 3.5 2nd level points. Its not much but every little bit counts.

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
No matter how it ends up, Jackson is a better team than Athens but it'll never be proven this year. That's a shame.
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
If Kettering Alter loses to Dayton CJ, Athens beats Nelsonville-York, and Jackson beats Gallia Academy...Jackson could be traveling to Athens for the #3/#6 game.
So, it's possible that we still could see a matchup between the Ironmen and Bulldogs in the 1st Round.

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
These 7 teams are basically locked into playoff berths, in my opinion. The seeding is obviously still up in the air.
Springfield Shawnee
Jonathan Alder
Logan Elm
Thurgood Marshall
Athens
Jackson
Kettering Alter
The last spot is essentially between Cincinnati Taft and Gallia Academy, unless Taft somehow loses one of its final two games (they play their Week 9 game tomorrow). If Taft loses, then it opens things up for New Richmond, I think.

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Thanks for the info 02 . Just happy to have a chance at week 11 with this bunch. Could be a special season
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
No problem. There are a ton of Saturday games in the Cincinnati/Dayton area this week, so things are still up in the air.
Everything will fall into place soon enough. JoeEitel will probably have everything updated on his website before I'm able to post again late tomorrow night/Sunday, but I'll definitely work out various scenarios for what can happen during Week 10 and post those by Sunday evening. Should be an interesting final week of the season.
Gotta win that outright title first. Can't wait!

Unofficial rankings for D3 - Region 12 After Week 9
1. Jonathan Alder - 23.5222
2. Springfield Shawnee - 22.0389
3. Athens - 21.8939
4. Dayton Thurgood Marshall - 21.8469
5. Logan Elm - 20.8500
6. Kettering Alter - 19.7944
7. Jackson - 16.8783
8. New Richmond - 15.1722
9. Cincinnati Taft - 14.0373
11. Gallia Academy - 12.3444
As far as I can tell, these are the only remaining teams that have a chance to make the playoffs. There may be other teams left that have a chance mathematically, but following my projections, these are the 10 that are still alive.

Whoever draws Alter in the first round is gonna get smoked. I think they're the best team in this region and the Penno kid (rb) is a beast. Not as good as his brother Doug was but he's an animal.
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Week 10
Jonathan Alder (9-0)
Alder plays 3-5 Bishop Watterson in the final week of the season. If they win, I project them to finish with a computer average of about 28.1000, placing them behind Springfield Shawnee in the final rankings. If they were to lose to Watterson, I have them around 26.5000, which should still get them a home game.
Springfield Shawnee (9-0)
Shawnee has a very tough game against 9-0 Tippecanoe in Week 10. If they win, I project them to finish with a computer average of 29.0000, which will most likely earn them the #1 seed. A loss against Tippecanoe, and their average would fall to around 23.9000, which could easily cost them a home game if the other teams in the region win.
Dayton Thurgood Marshall (8-1)
DTM plays Ponitz Tech (3-6) in Week 10. They will win, and end up with a computer average of around 24.6042, placing them as the #4 seed unless Shawnee or Logan Elm lose.
Athens (9-0)
Athens faces Nelsonville-York in a showdown of undefeated teams in Week 10. If Athens wins that game, they will have a projected computer average of 27.7308, which could put them as high as the #1 seed if the top teams were to falter, but more likely the #2 or #3 seed. If Athens loses to N-Y, then their average will be somewhere around 23.3409, which would probably land them at #5 or #6.
Logan Elm (9-0)
Logan Elm has a big game against 7-2 Amanda-Clearcreek. Win and the average is about 26.9500, which will probably get them the #3 seed, but possibly higher if Alder or Shawnee lose. A loss would drop them to around 23.1000, which could cause them to lose a home game.
Kettering Alter (9-0)
Kettering Alter has a huge rivalry game against a very good Dayton Chaminade-Julienne (7-2) team in the final week of the season. A win would put their average at around 24.5000, which should be good for the #5 seed unless the teams above them lose. A loss would drop them significantly to around 20.8000, which could mean the #7 seed.
Jackson (9-0)
The Ironmen have their heated rivalry game against Gallia Academy who also has an outside shot at the playoffs. If Jackson goes 10-0, their average will be somewhere around 22.9288, which will get them the #6 or #7 seed most likely. A loss to GAHS and the average will fall to about 19.2975, which should still get them the #7 seed.
New Richmond (7-2)
According to my projections, unless Taft loses, New Richmond can't make the playoffs. They'll also be hoping for a Jackson win so that Gallia Academy doesn't jump them.
Cincinnati Taft (6-3)
If Taft beats Hughes Center, they will end with an average around 18.3959, which should give them the #8 seed. If they lose, it opens the door for New Richmond. Gallia Academy could pass them with a win over Jackson, but GAHS would need other help in addition to the win.
Gallia Academy (6-3)
The Blue Devils need to beat Jackson and then hope that Taft's opponents don't give them much help. They also need their own opponents to help as much as possible. With a win over Jackson, I still have GAHS at 17.9000, below Taft and on the outside looking in. GAHS needs to win, and also root against Taft and their beaten opponents.

Final Projections for After Week 10
This assumes that Athens loses to N-Y, and that Jackson beats Gallia Academy. It also assumes that the other top teams win in Week 10, but I think Shawnee, Logan Elm, and Kettering Alter could all potentially lose. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for now though. Obviously things could be much different, depending on the outcomes of all the games.

2. Jonathan Alder - 28.1000
3. Logan Elm - 26.9500

5. Kettering Alter - 24.4000
6. Athens - 23.3409
7. Jackson - 23.0298
8. Taft - 18.3959

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
I actually think Alder might be the best team overall in the region, but Alter is also very good. Alter did beat them in the playoffs last year, though, so I could easily be wrong.FANOSPORTS wrote:

Alter could definitely lose to CJ in Week 10, which is exactly what happened last season. Alter then proceeded to lose by one in the state semis to the D4 state champ. They always rise to the occasion once playoff time rolls around.
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
If alter losses to CJ and Logan Elm losses to AC and Athens losses to NY and Jackson wins is there any way they could grab the number 4 spot just wondering
Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Ironmen85,
It may be possible, but it's highly unlikely. LE and Athens will still edge out Jackson even if they lose, according to my projections. The Ironmen would need several LE and Athens beaten opponents to lose, minimizing the L2 help for those two teams this week. Jackson can definitely pass Alter, but probably not the other two.

Re: Div 3 Region 12 Rankings
Anyone know what the official word is on the Coal Grove/Trimble game? I had heard/read that Trimble was being forced to forfeit, but JoeEitel is still showing that the game does not count.
Also, I have some slight discrepancies from JoeEitel as far as Max/Min averages are concerned. I'm assuming I made a mistake, so again, take my projections with a grain of salt.
EDIT: Found the problems. Only discrepancy is Athens, which obviously has to do with Coal Grove/Trimble.
