That's how I have it right now, which puts them at 23.3409 after Week 10 and Jackson at 23.0298, assuming that my projections are accurate.

If Athens doesn't get those 3.5 points, my projected total for them is 22.9874.

Interesting scenario for Gallia Academy:

I'm projecting that they get wins from Licking Heights (3.5 L2), Wellston (5.0 L2), Warren (5.0 L2) in Week 10. If they beat Jackson, the Blue Devils can add on another 45.5 L2 points, leaving them at 148.0 L2 points and 36.0 L1.

At this point, their computer average would be 18.4000, which is slightly higher than my projection for Taft at 18.3959. This would allow Gallia Academy to earn the 8th seed. Now, if Chillicothe beats Logan, they get an extra boost up to 153.5 L2, which would increase their average to 18.9500.

So, GAHS needs to win at Jackson, hope that Taft's opponents don't give them extra help, and also root for Chillicothe just in case an unexpected boost is given to Taft.

Obviously I'm hoping that this scenario doesn't matter at all around 10:00PM on Friday, but it makes this week's game even more interesting. :)

Gallia Academy had their chance against Ironton and should not have let Logan beat them.

IMO Gallia Academy will need to be +3 in turnover differential to be in the game all the way.

I'm likely wrong....but didn't Jackson force like 6 turnovers back in the DJ era (2003?) and still fall just short? That's how I see this game.

Yeah, like 5 or 6. Then the craziest turn of events I may have ever seen in a high school game led to a 34-30 GAHS win.

We returned the favor the next year, turning it over 5 times at home, but we weren't so fortunate in the end.

if gallia academy and taft both win their games. gallia academy will be .8 average ahead of taft before other second level points added. Taft has only 22 second level points up for grabs not guaranteed. badin 5-4 beating archbishop mcnichols 2-7 (5), indian hill 6-3 beating reading 0-9 (4.5), aiken 2-7 beating withrow 6-3 (6), shroder 3-5 beating woodward (1), and western hills 5-4 beating amelia 4-5 (5.5). i like withrow in the aiken withrow matchup. if this happens gallia academy 0nly needs 8.0 of their possible 29 second level points to come through. i feel pretty good about licking heights beating fisher catholic for 3.5 points. that means a win by any one of the following teams will give gallia academy enough points to move by taft. a win by either, wellston, marietta, warren, portsmouth, or chillicothie. now even though known of those 5 games are guarantees i like gallia academys odds if they beat jackson at getting in. and if amelia could beat western hills possible or if michnichols could beat badin possible just the licking heights win would get them in. now if they got by taft just on licking heights then new richmond might come into play.

Trimble's forfeit to Coal Grove appears to be official. This also changes Athens' L2 divisor to 100 from 99, which knocks down their average a little. Here are the rankings after Week 9 and my projections for after Week 10.

I have been projecting a N-Y win against Athens, mostly because I was hoping Jackson could pass the Bulldogs (not gonna happen), so I'm gonna just stick with that even though it could obviously go either way. As I said before, Shawnee, Logan Elm, Kettering Alter, and Jackson all have very difficult games in Week 10, so this is just a guess.

After Week 9

#1. Jonathan Alder - 23.5222
#2. Springfield Shawnee - 22.0389
#3. Thurgood Marshall - 21.8468
#4. Athens - 21.7222
#5. Logan Elm - 20.8500
#6. Kettering Alter - 19.7944
#7. Jackson - 16.8737
#8. New Richmond - 15.1722

#9. Taft - 14.3073
#11. Gallia Academy - 12.3444

After Week 10

#1. Springfield Shawnee - 29.0000
#2. Jonathan Alder - 28.1000
#3. Logan Elm - 26.9500
#4. Thurgood Marshall - 24.6042
#5. Kettering Alter - 24.4000
#6. Athens - 23.1500
#7. Jackson - 23.0298
#8. Taft - 18.3959

Read this off Yappi.com.

Now we all know the rich tradition of Alter but don't mistake respect for fear with any teams in this region. I think Alder, T Marshall, Shawnee, and quite possibly Jackson could play with the Knights on any given night. Also everyone knows that Alter is probably the regional favorite and that they are the team to beat and it doesn't matter if it happens in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round. Someone will have to step up eventually.

I also think whoever gets Jackson, win or lose, will walk away from playing them and not be able to say they played any more of a physical team as them. Those boys from SE Ohio know how to bring it.

Kettering Alter is the best team in the Region regardless of where they will be seeded after this week. Athens or Jackson do not want to draw them in the first round. The best draw either one of those could get would be Thrugood Marshall (city team, not much discipline but athletic). In high school the athleticism isn't as much a factor as in college and the pros. Great fundamentals (as most Catholic schools in this state have) and the team concept will win the majority of high school championships from what I've seen over the years.

I watched Alter play Roger Bacon play the other night - and yea, I don't really want to go play those guys ... The runningback Penno, he looked like he would be a real bad match-up for a team without a lot of size - like Athens.

Just glanced through all the playoff contenders and their opponents. Only three Saturday games that will affect this region in Week 10. We should have a very good idea tomorrow night how things will shake out. I'll be coming home after the game tomorrow night to crunch the final numbers. Here are the Saturday games that will keep us waiting...

Thurgood Marshall vs. Ponitz Tech

Hamilton Badin vs. Cincinnati McNicholas

Licking Heights vs. Fisher Catholic

Yeah, definitely. The other two games may not really matter much either, but it won't be official until Saturday night.
