Re: will nelsonville york have a passing game this year?
This years team will not be 100 percent running. Coach Boston wouldnt do that. There are recievers for a reason and thats not just to block. And JIM, football is not just about passing the ball. So if thats the reason you dont like Ny football then your not a fan. Ny does not have a qb this year to be like Jay. Its hard to find one as good or close to him. GO BUCKEYES
Re: will nelsonville york have a passing game this year?
I think this year we will see a variety of play calling. Saying that we need to move to a passing game this year is ignorant. Why would you want to pass the ball when you have one of the best backfields in southeastern ohio coming back. Arnold, Cunningham, maybe some Young, Andrews, Perkins gettin a few carries but you can't forget about bunting at tight end. I look for him to be used a lot more the kid is big and physical and not afraid to catch the ball in traffic. This team has a lot of talent that isn't being talked about because we have a young man named Derek Arnold. I love Arnold, but the people around him give him the holes and then he does the magic.

You can't just "choose" to have a passing game. If the elements are there to support it, it certainly makes sense to open up and vary your offense more. Logan was a traditional smash-mouth team. When the personnel were present to support it, it switched to the spread with good results. But if the future mix of players dictated a heavily ground-orriented attack, I feel they would go back to that.

I would just like to let everyone know i was being totally serious when i said they were not going to throw the ball this year......
Re: will nelsonville york have a passing game this year?
Griz, making statements like that makes me think you have been in the stands during an NY game and heard the fans voice their displeasure every time we throw an incomplete pass. "Run the d*** ball."

Yea it sounds like a great idea now but after this year we wont have a back as amazing as arnold which is why we need a more diverse offense to keep the defense on their heels. The run will not always be there even though it works A LOT it doesn't mean we can't toss a ball a few downs a possession.

But do you believe that a freshman can carry it 20+ times every game? Also these just aren't push over teams anymore these are seniors and juniors of big schools that have fun hittin' the snot out of guys. I do not believe that this scottie kid can or ever will control a game as arnold does IMO.

Name a year in the last ten that NY hasn't had a good back who can carry the ball 20 times a game. NY always have and always will have good backs.
Re: will nelsonville york have a passing game this year?
Scottie is a tough running back and someday will be toting the rock for NY, but it won't be as a freshman. Too much talent already in front of him. After Arnold leaves could be Andrews, Young, Cunningham. I would be very surprised to see any freshman starting at tailback for NY.
Re: will nelsonville york have a passing game this year?
Justin cunninham is a stud to. load up on arnold, and justin will make you pay. NY is LOADED AT TAILBACK
Re: will nelsonville york have a passing game this year?
Dustin Young ==== future stud RB. Mark it down. Remember it. Print it. (Assuming good health, grades, and that he continues to play)

If you have to ask, then don't expect it.

Why do they need to pass? They have an Arnold. That will get them through the League
but kill them as it has in the pass in the playoffs.

you would grow old waiting for grass to grow on boston field

having arnold as a threat will help open up the passing game also. i gotta believe ny will see alot of 8-in-the-box or 4/4 staggers.
