Re: senior league
i wonder how things will be in high school when rock hill will have their same team and will play these players all split up at their own schools i think their is no doubt who will be the dominate team. and another thing everyone says its for the kids then how can a coach take a kid from another school and play him in front of kids from his own team i know the sp player played evey inning and ironton kids sit the bench thats not looking out for the kids thats worried about nothing about winning dont know how the coach could look the kids or parents in the eye after doing that

Re: senior league
I guess everyone will see when the high school baseball season rolls around next spring.
The Ironton coach has nothing to worry about when he looks his kids and parents in the eye. First of all, he discussed the matter with his players before it happened and all were on board. I personally don't think he owes the parents any explanation especially if the kids were all ok with it.
I feel that is a growing problem with Little League when all parents feel they should be consulted on every decision made by a team or parents that feel they should have "say so" about decisions that should be made by coaches or league officials. I can give you an example. That would be like a group of parents who insisted that a league and its coach file a protest against another team when they were wrong on the protest in the first place.

I don't think they were wrong about the protest, they just couldn't prove it on the spot

I think a parents decision should be involved when there kid (from Ironton) has to sit the bench, While kids from other school's get to play. I'm sure not all kids were on board with that. Good Luck at state and I hope the Ironton kids get to play, They are the true Tiger Fans.

If any kids weren't on board, they didn't speak up.
I disagree about getting the parents' input on this issue. Again, everyone at the game on Friday saw what happens when the parents supposedly want something and influence the manager and league officials into giving the parents a voice.

Re: senior league
yes parents should have an opinion this is for the kids and all of them should play any kid that sits the bench and doesnt play at all well that is someone just wanting to win and not caring about the kids no kid should never not get to play no matter how close the game is and if anyone disagrees with that they shouldnt be involved in little l. and go coach high school where u get paid and as for the protest the kid in question was on vacation with someone the rock hill people knew . and as far as protesting isnt that the coaches job to adress matters like that.

I agree it is the coaches' job to file protests, not the parents. From what I was told, the coaches and league president wanted nothing to do with the protest, the parents pressured them into doing so. That is the issue in my opinion.

I can promise you #1 fan that EVERY KID got plenty of playing time in the regular season- even the kid your parents protested. When all stars roll around not everyone gets in every game. It is about winning and advancing to the next level and anyone who says it isn't is lying to themselves. There are many lessons learned on the field and off the field and these guys will remember the experience of going and/or playing in the state tourny for the rest of their lives. My son was on the team last year as a 15 year old and didn't spend every inning on the field but the experience of being there was very positive. I am looking forward to watching them attempt to acheive their goal of winning the state tourny . But win or loose, play or sit the bench, it will be a great experience for EVERY KID on the Ironton team.

Why didn't green get the players from sp?
i watched some of theirs games and they only had one true player.
wouldnt that make it more fair to try and even out the teams rather than load one?

Re: senior league
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the player from a team can choose whatever team that is fielding a team to play for providing 1 that his regular season team is not having an all star team AND 2 that no one from his regular season team is already playing for another team in the district. Since noone from sp had asked to play for another team Dickess had his choice of Ironton ,RH ,or Green. I would guess he chose the team he felt like was the best fit for him as well as where he would have the best chance at being sucessful.

Re: senior league
That pretty much explains it. When the SP team folded and their players still had interest in playing, any league could have taken them as long as they were willing to play for that league. SP notified Ironton that they had players with interest in playing for Ironton allowing it to happen.

Re: senior league
I find it amusing that others are looking out for the kids of the Ironton Team. Believe me, those kids are just fine. As for the protest, 1 of 2 things happened, (1) You can't or never even tried to read the rule book, or (2) you were grasping at straws. The rule clearly states that any player on the senior league team that has participated in at least 60% of the regular season games as of June 15th, with the exception of the high school season. You had a better chance of protesting the way the grass was cut at Symmes Valley than disqualifing that player.
As I have already stated, picking up other players from other teams has happened for a long time. Those at Rock Hill have a very short memory. In 2005, Rock Hill picked up players from the Coal Grove Senior League regular season team. I know for a fact that 2 of those players started for Rock Hill, at least in 1 game.
Good Luck to the Ironton Senior League at state. Rock Hill had a good season and as I have said before, the pitcher from Rock Hill had one of the more gutsier performances that I have ever seen.

No one was saying anything about picking up kids from other schools, or about the protest. I think picking up kids from other schools and playing them in front of your own kids is wrong. And if a kid is good enough to be picked for an All-Star team than he should be good enough to play. Yes it is about winning, but I don't care what you say when a kid doesn't even get on the field and sits the bench he doesn't feel like he is a part of a team. Pleasanttiger you said that your son didn't get to play every inning last year, but he did get to play some. I think all kids should get some playing time. (WIN OR LOSE)

Believe it or not, 5 out of 10 games is 50% at a lot of places besides Rock Hill as well. Are we just practicing our Math facts or was there another point to that post?

I have reread this entire thread and Ironton has been bashed for several things including picking up kids from other leagues. Other complaints include Ironton receiving special treatment in the tournament drawing, Ironton being protested for playing an illegal player and now we have criticism of the lineup especially who plays and who doesn't. It seems to me that when one question is answered, other "concern" is brought up.

After rereading, It seems BWH brought up the protest, so don't get mad if you get a response to it.
