Hey bleeding. Quit talking about knowledge of football because it is NONE with u. Again next week Minford when u played plays there annual burg homecoming game. I think Burg even had homecoming a few times at your place when you played. LolBleeding Red wrote:ManitouDan wrote:the bleeding continues...... NW 26 Minford 18
Great call. Your knowledge of high school football again is overflowing. LOL. "Toughie"? LOL.
Minford dominated every aspect of this game. Northwest couldnt get anything going, even with #33. He was getting hit in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage all night. Minford really looked motivated tonight. I hope that trend continues next week.
Very classy of the Minford coaching staff to let time expire with 2 minutes left, on the Northwest 1/2 yard line at the end of the game.

Congrats to the Falcons, getting back to .500 in the league and over .500 on the season. I'll be at the Minford-Burg game next week and it wouldn't shock me to see a competitive game. The Falcons are gonna have to play well against a steadily improving Burg team looking to put themselves in a position to compete in the league race in the final two showdowns of the season if they can get past an up and down Falcon squad. Hoping for a solid game next week.

Congratulations to the Minford Falcons Football Team! Not only did you win, you did it with class by taking a knee in the last two minutes! Northwest's shot at a .500 season is over. Looks like 3-7 is gonna be all she wrote. NW kids looked like they just did not want to be there. There were players on the sidelines in the first half (while play was going on) walking over talking to people in the stands and one player was talking on his cell phone during play in the second quarter!! It is no wonder this program is so bad! I have went to my last Northwest football game and this is my last post. I can not support something that is this screwed up.

Dont give up on the Mohawks yet, that is the last thing they need. They need to keep this current coaching staff in place for several years IMO.
Remember that coaches are focused on the game at hand, not necessarily what is going on behind them from kids warming the bench.

You've got to be kidding me??? Kids talking to people in the stands and one player talking on his cell phone.... that's simply amazing to hear that. You are right that it sounds like the players didn't even want to be there. I thought this game would be closer. Don't blame you for not wanting to go back.Kenraken Ahta wrote:Congratulations to the Minford Falcons Football Team! If Larry Hall couldn't turn that program around and make winners out of them then I doubt it will ever happen.
Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
A few years ago Northwest had a decent coaching staff but they kept them for 2 years. Call me crazy but Northwest will never be completely turned around in just 2 years. Scott Thompson was their head coach, they had Dan McDavid (now head coach at Green) Daryl Davis (coached or still coaches at East) and Kirk Thompson. IMO they shouldve kept them and added Fry on to the staff. "You gotta learn to walk before you can run"

Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
I honestly dont know what the answer is for NW. Maybe it really is sending them down to SOC I...they are at least competitive when they play those teams. When Northwest came onto the field friday I knew the game was over before the first snap. They were just out matched at all positions.... Good luck trying to fix that mess
Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
What is everybody down on NW their season is better that lasts years I think their coach is doing the job with what he has to work with it doesnt happen over night give him a chance it takes at least 4-5 years to build up something from nothing leave the coach alone...!!!!! but also the kids need to get with the program the coaches cant do it alone.

Pay attention. Nobody is knocking coach Fry. In fact, several of us have complimented the job he's done. They went 3-7 last year, so unless they pick up another win, their season is not going to finish better than last year's. Also, I realize that you are probably not old enough to remember this, but Northwest has had some of the most successful coaches to ever coach in Scioto County coach out there for a couple of seasons apiece and niether of them were able to develop any success there. The problems at Northwest are not with the coach. It is a much more systemic problem than that.Here4Fun wrote:What is everybody down on NW their season is better that lasts years I think their coach is doing the job with what he has to work with it doesnt happen over night give him a chance it takes at least 4-5 years to build up something from nothing leave the coach alone...!!!!! but also the kids need to get with the program the coaches cant do it alone.

I'm sorry if it seems that I'm talking down to you. I really don't mean to. Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
I just think they are way over due for a winning season I hate to see those boys go through season after season and not get anywhere Coach Fry if you are reading these post keep it up the hard work it will pay off someday
Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
Thats what I was trying to say in my post. They've had the coaches. The past 4 years NW has went 0-10- 1-9 2-8 and 3-7. The coaches, players, community, and school board all have to click in order to have success as a football program. Also I know many young athletes at NW transfer to nearby schools before they enter highschool for football. Maybe a few .500 or above seasons in the future would cause some of those athletes to stay.Jesco White wrote:Pay attention. Nobody is knocking coach Fry. Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
Northwest has football players, good athletes on the field, but unfortunately to many other ones are walking the halls monday thru friday, but in the stands friday night. I think for NW to be successful it is going to take a young staff with several pieces from the district itself that will be able to communicate enthusiasm and sale the idea of a successful Northwest football program to the kids. Gotta create a good preview to get the folks to come to the theatre, get em fired up, create a culture, it's going to take some outside the box approaches to get this program on the verge of being up and running.

Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
First off - congrats to Minford on the win.
Next, I understand coaches cannot see everything that is going on - I was at the game but didn't see anyone texting or whatever on the sideline - but then again I was watching the game not the sidelines. If it was happening, the parents of this individual should berate the player. I've had my son act disinterested in a practice or game and we had a little "heart to heart" talk about his motivation. Not the coaches fault, not the systems fault - not the "boring" practices he participated in - it was HIS fault.
I think it's time for the players to take some responsibility - never did I need a pep talk to get me fired up to play a game - that's a cop out.
Again - because I stated it before - Northwest needs out of the SOC II - it is a fact that they can't compete. Ken Raka - don't get mad because they are losing this season - do your homework - in the SOC II it's every season. Some have better data than me but here's what it looks like since 2002 according to macattacksports:
2002 overall 3-7 SOC II 0-4 SOC I 1-2
2003 overall 4-6 SOC II 0-4 SOC I 1-2
2004 overall 1-9 SOC II 0-4 SOC I 0-3
2005 overall 4-5 SOC II 1-3 SOC I 2-1 beat Minford
2006 overall 0-9 SOC II 0-4 SOC I 0-3
2007 overall 1-9 SOC II 0-5 SOC I 1-3
2008 overall 1-9 SOC II 0-5 SOC I 0-3
2009 overall 2-8 SOC II 0-5 SOC I 0-2
2010 overall 3-7 SOC II 1-4 SOC I 1-2 beat Waverly
2011 overall 3-4 SOC II 0-2 SOC I 1-2
That's a whopping 2 SOC II wins in 10 years!!! Why don't the SOC board look at that! Even if Northwest dropped to SOC I they still would not have won a conference championship. I say put the school where they can compete and build up a program. You do that by WINNING. Valley's formula has been very successful - I believe they joined SOC II in 2007.
If Northwest didn't have to play WEST, WHEELERSBURG, MINFORD, and VALLEY they could be successful year in and year out. But let's face it, those schools produce some pretty tough teams.
Then again - maybe I'm just rambling because I'm frustrated too. We just need to be put in a position where we can be competitive.

I agree 100%. If they were in the SOC I, and lets say they finished .500 or even slightly better the first couple years, they would have more kids coming out. More bodies never hurts anything. The Ripper wrote:First off - congrats to Minford on the win.

But there are other factors:
1) Feeder system- what kind of numbers do they have in pee wee? If they dont have much, why? If they do have good numbers, where are they losing the kids? Is it Jr High? I think you really need to peel off the layers of the onion to figure it out.
2.) Size and economy- I believe, for the most part, that NW is one of the poorer schools in terms of income per capita. Maybe the poorest. Factor that with some kids literally living 35 minutes from the school. One vehicle per family. Gas is $3+ a gallon. Makes it tough for a family of 4 or 5 to get one kid home from practice every day, etc. Especially when they are losing 5-7 games a year.
First move is to get them to SOC I. Get more kids involved in the lower level football leagues. KEEP a high school staff on for more than 2 years. There is no immediate gratification, but there is no immediate fix either. It will take time.

I agree 100%.. Something has to change.Nw has talent, but most of them aren't playin
Re: Week 7 Northwest @ Minford
Why do you think it is that Northwest is less than competitive in the SOC II? If there were only an easy answer to that question. Look at the coaching staff, other than coach Fry, who have been on the coaching staff for many years and look at the past records. The best way to predict the future is to look at the past!!! How can a different outcome be expected when the same coaches who were part of the past are still coaching there?

I completely disagree. It's about the kids. If Hall and Tipton fell flat on their face, it's not 100% coaching.Slew72 wrote:Why do you think it is that Northwest is less than competitive in the SOC II?
