Week 7 West @ Valley
Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Very good game to watch for sure. I knew valley's offense would be putting points on the board but didn't expect the O line to be so controlling. The defensive line came to play. very disciplined and staying in their lanes and not over pursuing. great tackling. west has a good team and should win out. It was good to see both teams stayed classy and just played some football.

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
The best team won tonight. The more physical team won tonight. I was really suprised by Valley's o-line. They won the battle. Valley's d-line also did a good job. Maybe if Coach Crabbtree was calling the plays for West, maybe we could mix it up alittle. Poorly coached offensive game plan. And to stick with that same plan until the last drive? Mix it up West!!!!!!

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
I was surprised that west didn't have anyone over the center....I dunno how many conversions valley made on the sneak
Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Congrats to Valley. They have a tough team full of good strong athletes. West keep your heads held high and finish 9-1. Hope to see Valley in the playoffs

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Like everybody else I was surprised at Valleys line play Very Solid. actually they wore West down. credit West for taking advantage of the turnovers or people would have really been shocked with a 28-6 score
I agree with black@orange. West could be a very dangerous team if they ran their offense like Valley, talented QB that can run/throw. I know philosophy is hard to change. But go with what your talent will allow you to do.

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Congrats to the Valley kids the coaches and their fans, wow what a exciting game to watch, wish I could see one like this every friday night, what I got to see of it with 8 trips to the bathroom and 4 to the concession stand with my youngest son had to miss a little of it. Would like to say hats off to the Indians o and d lines didn't think they could compete 4 quarters with us they sure proved me wrong. I would also like to say hats off to the young man that made the play on the pass on our last play, that was a outstanding play a split second later a who knows what could of happened that ball was right on the money. I hope this will open some eyes on the play calling and we start throwing the ball a little more, just shows what you can do with a good passing game, I think this was the difference in the game we started throwing to late. I would like to say to Mister Keller young man I was impressed with you on the field and even more so in the interview after the game wow what a role model to have for the younger Indians. Good luck to the Indians the rest of the season, get the Burg monkeye off your back and get your first gold football in the SOC 2, one more thing I hope we can still make the playoffs and maybe meet again that would be awesome but with a different outcome.

Their qb would just throw the ball up in a alley-oop and that big boy would just go up and get them (just like a rebound) for a lot of yardage. He was a difference maker in ythe game. How tall is he anyway?
Dwyer. 6'6 190. even in double coverage he's tough to cover. has a good set of hands

I see West winning out and making the playoffs. West has a good group of kids. played with class, played hard.

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Just a great win for my Indians tonight! Valley controlled the line of scrimmage and just beat West at their own game from about the 5:00 mark of the 3rd quarter. The one thing that I was not sure about (us being able to compete in the trenches) was the thing that won the game. One of the most telling things to me was late on Valley's 94 yard drive when there was an official timeout for a measurement. After the measurement, West took a timeout just to try to catch some wind. Valley wore them down all night.
I will say this about West...Those kids don't quit. They have a very solid team. I feel the Siders win out and finish in the 6-7 spot in region 19.

Largest gate in Valley stadium history, even bigger than the Valley /Burg game last year. Took 40 minutes for all the cars to get out. Both teams showed total class tonight as well as the fans from both teams. This was Southern Ohio Football at it`s finest.tonight. Everyone who was there got their money`s worth, Both of these teams will representative themselves and the SOC well in the playoffs. Although I am a Valley supporter I would love to see a rematch down the road just not the first week because both teams deserve to play a couple of games in the playoffs. Good Luck West I hope you win out.

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
As has already been stated, hats off to West!! Those kids never quit and that shows a tremendous amount about the type of kids and team the truly are!!! They quite possibly still have their best football in front of them and I'd love to see them again, say Week 13 for a shot at sending an SOC II team to the final four!!!
As for the Indians......GREAT GAME PURPLE!!!!! I don't know if I've ever been more impressed with a Valley team's performance in the trenches on BOTH sides of the ball!! They not only competed but controlled the line of scrimmage. That kind of performance just doesn't happen to this talented bunch from West, but it did tonight!!! As usual, Yates, Keller and Dwyer made plays all night when they needed to be made!! Those three kids have got to be the most dangerous QB, RB, WR trio on any team in southeastern Ohio!! If they continue to get line play like the got tonight to go with those three playmakers, they are gonna be a tough out for ANYONE in Region 19!!
I also thought the Valley D did a tremendous job playing FOUR COMPLETE quarters!!! To limit this potent West rushing attack to approximately 150 yards on 42 carries (unofficial radio stats) was nothing short of AMAZING!!!
Again, great sportsmanship on the field and in the stands!!! Just an awesome high school football game and I'm so glad I got to see it!!! Best of luck West the rest of the way, and I look forward to seeing the rematch in a few more weeks!!

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
According to WNXT's postgame stats....
Yates finished 11-14 for 162 yards and 2 TD's passing
Dwyer had 4 catches for 117 yards and 1 TD
Keller was credited with 27 carries for 115 yards and 2 TDs rushing with 6 receptions - 29 yards - 1 TD receiving.
All total the Indians put up 28 points and over 300 yards of total offense against a West starting Defense that had only allowed 14 points TOTAL thru the first six games of the season!! Just an outstanding all around effort by the line allowing these three skilled playmakers to get the job done against one of the better defenses in southern Ohio!!!

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Good patience by keller on his running abilty. he waited for the hole, then cut back many times to make the yards. Some good runs up the gut too. Good job by the oline. West IMO didnt play their game. They normally run it right down ur throat but they tried all night to get outside. ??. Example, when Valley gave them the short field on fumbles, West attacked and scored rather quickly. Dont understand why they didnt try to continue that attack throughout the game. Didnt West fumble here and there a couple times? Did Valley score on those mishaps? Cant remember. The game went so quick.
Dwyer was a big difference in this game. he made several alley oop pass catches to continue drives! But there were a few throws that Yates made to Dwyer that were perfect strikes.
Awesome game to watch. Impressed by both teams.

LOL, I was at that game Burg vs Valley last year and it took me over an HOUR to get out and I was parked on the straightaway towards the stadium. Alot of ppl there tonight, must have been car pooling!Mr Basketball 14 wrote:Largest gate in Valley stadium history, even bigger than the Valley /Burg game last year. Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Valley's first TD came after a West fumble at their own 47. That was their only turnover. The Siders however capitalized on a pair of Valley turnovers on fumbles inside their own 25 both times. To West's credit, they capitalized. To Valley's credit, they immediately answered after the momentum had swung and the game was tied early in the 3rd. To me, that is very big X-factor in terms of this team displaying true grit and character moving forward!! They responded against a very good football team, and that's the type of play you have to have if you want to win championships!!

Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
Just pointing this out, they allowed 14 points to Rock Hill alone. So I'm pretty sure they allowed more than 14 total all seasonJesco White wrote:All total the Indians put up 28 points and over 300 yards of total offense against a West starting Defense that had only allowed 14 points TOTAL thru the first six games of the season
One thing I have to say is West's offense made a great drive at the end of the game, but once they made it to the 25, they started shooting for the endzone. If they would have kept with some small ball they would have moved the ball much smoother. I noticed they lined up in the same formation 4 plays in a row. They have a great coaching staff but I'm not so sure about the play calling there. I'm sure they had a plan in mind but it just didn't pan out.
Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
This about sums it up for me.SuperSiders wrote:Congrats to Valley, they are the better team. We got outplayed and outcoached. Keller is a very nice player. I was very surprised to see that we wore down in the 2nd half. Good luck to Valley the rest of the way, this might just be the year they get the Burg monkey off their back. Hopefully we meet again in the playoffs.
Re: Week 7 West @ Valley
buckeye 24, I think the 14 given up to rock hill came after the starters were on the sideline. Valley won this one on the off. and def. lines. good game valley you won out right. Come on West, time to regroup and prepare for the last 3 games and hope you get another chance to play again. If we do make the playoffs hope we play valley in 1st round lot closer then columbus, besides looks like you will have to beat valley anyway.
