A expanded TVC with 18 teams, 3 divisions of 6 each could look like this and be very competitive for all schools involved.

Big...

Jackson - 378 D2 (very small D2)
Athens - 363 D3
Warren - 335 D3
V.C. - 296 D3
Gallia - 247 D4
Meigs - 223 - D4

Medium...

Alexander - 206 - D4 (small D4)
River Valley - 191 D4 (even smaller D4)
Wellston - 181 D5
NY - 161 D5
Belpre - 140 D5
Fed Hocking - 138 D5

Small...

Trimble - 112 D6
South Gallia - 100 D6
Miller - 97 D6
Eastern - 95 D6
Southern - 91 D6
Waterford - 90 D6

Really, not much of a spread in enrollments per divisions. Travel distances are managable. Just my thoughts.

Great move for South Gallia. It will be nice to be playing for conference championships (hopefully)!

Funny, because that is exactly what you are doing.

Jackson and Gallia in the TVC Ohio would be good fits.

Sir, to put it simply; you have lost your mind!

Warren would be a good fit to rejoin the TVC. I agree.

There is clearly an opening to add two schools to the Ohio now. Unless, the thought was to ultimately create a third division. Then you would need at least 3 more schools I would think.

I just don't think River Vally would get the votes to get in. I don't have any thing against RV, but it just seems like the TVC doesn't want them.

All I know is that like it or not I think a lot of change is coming to the TVC!!!!!

RV has turned down offers twice to join the TVC-Ohio!

I would love to see Warren go back to the TVC, it would be great for travel(less miles to cover) and one other thing Warren will be D2 for football this coming season with our enrollment going up.
We should have never left the TVC to begin with but that's a touchy subject with me and I'll leave it at that. So let the count down begin only 54 days until official practice begins.

Actually Kato, right before RV joined the OVC, they tried to get into the TVC and the TVC shot them down. RV turned down the TVC back when the school first was consolidated.

Warren's enrollment for 09-10 is about 365 boys, which is a small D2 and would make it the second biggest school in this league.

Look, the attitude at Warren is that the higher level of competition in the SEOAL prepares our athletes for postseason competition better, and Warren has had some pretty good success inthat regard over the past 20 years. The travel time will definitely cut down after Ironton leaves, and yes, the TVC is a better fit geographically but Warren would quickly dominate the teams in the TVC Ohio. Even with Belpre moving out. Warren's going to stay in the SEOAL until it breaks up (which, hey, who knows?).

The reason Warren left the TVC for the SEOAL was for one reason and one reason only, they saw Nelsonville and Belpre making the football playoffs in the early to mid 1980's and they weren't. Remember, this was when only the top 2 teams in the region made it.

Now, we are 20+ years down the road, the top 8 teams in the region make the playoffs and to date, Warren is in the SEOAL and still has ZERO football playoff appearences.

True, it has helped the other sports, but they could easily go to the TVC and play nonconference games against schools such as Parkersburg and Parkersburg South that are much bigger, D1 in Ohio terms, gain big computer points and make huge amounts of money from gates against these 2 teams and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. If they can beat these 2 teams, they could perform well in the first round of the football playoffs.

I really think there are a few more SEOAL schools that could benefit on many fronts by going into the TVC.

Warren's boys enrollment for this coming season is 335. That makes them a large D3 school.

Don't know if it will happen, but I think some folks need to take the blinders off and seriously study the idea.

Warren's boys enrollment for 09-10 is approx. 365.

The enrollment figure of 335 was the 07-09 figure...but remember that a new count has been taken. Warren is now the second-smallest school in D2, Region 7, where it joins its SEOAL foes Logan and Marietta.

Look here for the proof: http://www.ohsaa.org/members/hsenroll09.htm

My bad. I looked at the wrong numbers.

The last count must be in as I read on the OHSAA web site they are at 362 for next year.

I would assume that is the final number. Making them are very small D2 school.

how will the move to the hocking divsion affect belpre's chances of making the playoffs? they are div 5 and it seems alot of, if not all of the rest of the hocking is div 6. those non-hocking games at the beginning of the season wil now carry of lot of importance as far as playoff points go.

Fed Hock is the only other D-5 team in the Hocking so Belpre will have to schedule some good non-league games.

From what I have heard, it is very likely that both Belpre and Federal Hocking will most likely find themselves in Division 6 with the rest of the Hocking schools in a matter of another 2-4 years. Both schools have D 6 numbers in the lower grades from my understanding.

But yes, you are right. It will be even more important for Belpre to schedule smart during non-league games. Not only for playoff points, but for $$$ games as well. You want to make money in those non-league home games to make up for the fact that some of the weaker Hocking schools won't travel well and the fact that the schools have smaller populations to draw fans from.

IF that is the attitude at Warren, why did Warren apply to rejoin the TVC last year???? They applied for admission but the league teams voted against it last spring.

I would think that Belpre moving down to the Hocking would be a negative to Warren rejoining the Ohio.Since they are big Rivals.I still think that Jackson would never want to be in this league, and trust me the they would dominate this league as they have my Rockets over the years. The Ironmen are just too big ,and I know they are about the same size as Athens.Trust me when I say they are very different when it comes to football.Like night and day .
