Nice job as always Locos!

This is the biggest, strongest Warren team in recent memory. The line will average around 250 and they have all been in the weight room. The backfield will have a break-out year (big, strong & experienced). They are certainly waaaaay better prepared than any team I've seen. The coaching staff is ready, and Welsh is a positive addition.

All the pieces are there for a winning season this year. It's going to happen.

This is the most beef i've seen up front in a while and should make a difference in protecting Clay Ellenwood and give him time in the pocket, something we didn't have last year and I can't wait, the boys get fitted for helmets tomorrow and also the weight room has been busy.
I think the next few years we will see some real talent coming up with the Mayle boy at RB and Dylan Leffingwell at QB and one thing I have noticed is the boys seem to be getting taller, must have been all that C8 in the water,LOL.

Don't know alot about Warren, but it sounds like they have a good team, maybe they could challenge for 2nd or 3rd place in the Seoal

Warren will not get any respect until they earn it on the field. This is the year they can earn that respect. Folks that know about the things that are going on at Warren know that they will be real threat in the SEAOL this year. Other folks just assume it will be "business as usual."

It's not business as usual this year. Last night about thirty players were working on the passing game. That's definitley not the status quo for Warren, at least not during this decade. People have no idea how bad things have been. They have NO IDEA how different things are now. Warren is improving in BIG chunks. If things come together in a couple areas Warren will be a threat to every team they play this season.

I think this will be the year Warren wins more than 1 SEOAL game. They haven't won more than that since the 4-6 campaign in 2001. Doing better in the league is something Warren needs to focus on this year. Last year the 4 wins were a welcomed change, but a 1-5 league record kept this team near the cellar.

A little more experience and some physical maturation should help this team reach 2 maybe 3 wins in the league. With those wins and good efforts against Belpre, Morgan, and South they could be looking at their first .500 season in a decade.

The Morgan game will be a good measure for Warren. Last year Morgan lost 21-20 at home to Philo, the same Philo team that beat Warren 20-0 in arguably the worst game Warren played last season. The Morgan game could likely be the game that propels the Warriors to a great season, or the stumbling block that keeps them as an also ran.

Great job! Just a few corrections: Seth Wellspring was a senior least year and will be greatly missed. Dustin Harlow will not be starting at WR he is more of a FB. I would make an educated guess that Yocum will start there along with Venham. Arbuckle and Hendrix will most likely both play ILB and DT interchangably. Again, I dont see harlow at OLB starting on the varsity level. Ellenwood, even though he is a QB, would make a good one there. Other than those lil things, good job, I enjoy the previews every year!!! One of the best things about SEOPS! I think we need to throw a party for Logan Locos ;-) ;-)

With the first passing scrimmage of the year over and the 2nd one coming up this thursday night, what do the warriors need to improve on to better themselves against south?

Like everyone else, Warren needs reps between players to get the timing down. The system that Welsh is implementing is still a bit new. The QBs need to get to throw a whole bunch to the players that will be playing, and they need to throw to them in the positions that they will be playing in. At Wellston everything was scrambled eggs. That's OK for getting everyone comfortable, but isn't going to help QBs and receivers get timing down.

One person who needs some recognition is Evan Arnold. He looks great (about 175) and can see him having an impact this year.

Ok 2nd scrimmage done. I am going to put it simple...bad. A few offensive drives clicked a lil but there is still a WHOLE LOT of rust. As for defense, warren needs an answer for the deep ball and they need it fast. South threw up a number of balls 20 yards or more and most of them ended up a south score. You could tell there was confusion on the D side of the ball and lots of it. There were no practices last week and I think the team could have benefitted with a few. Next week, same thing. Let's see what the warriors can do to improve.

Replace D corridinator. WAAAAAY too many skills lacking by players. Not the kids fault, not enough teaching. Look for this trend to continue when season begins. Hopefully, Warren can out-score their opponents.

The same old thing with sports. When things look bad its the Coaching, when they are good, the players are great. I hate this way of thinking. The players have a to understand and react. If they did not practice all week thats bad, but i cant think a staff did not teach the kids what they should be doing on the field. I would also like to say that South looks very good. Very nice looking, tall WR's that go up and get the ball. I was in the endzone for one of the TD's South had on you guys. The ball was thrown high and the WR made a great one handed catch. The DB was in his coached spot and tried to make a play. The fact is that the WR was better on that play. Coaching cant stop that sort of thing.

The more 7on7 that Warren has, the less discussion on these boards.

What happened to all the enthusiasm from earlier?

Thursday warren played marietta and caldwell in 7 on 7. Warren had no coaches there because it was not part of there 10 days allowed w/the kids. For the most part, I thought the defense is improving. The players were responsible for making the calls on D and I didn't think there was much confusion at all. Seemed to run pretty smoothly. As for the offensive side of the ball the 3 QB's continue to rotate and improve. Competition makes players better so hopefully they will continue to get better every day. The route running seems to be getting better, if only some people can catch the ball. Many of the receivers with very reliable hands didnt take complete advantage of some throws that hit there hands. Just a few minor adjustments and things should be clicking. I will say this. Everyone knows that warren is not a passing team. These 7 on 7 scrimmages really dont mean a lot to the team in blue. The players all seem anxious to put the pads on and go out and hit people insteada playin 2 hand touch.

There is more enthusiasm in Warriorland than I have witnessed in years.

The 7on7 scrimmages have been going very well. Warren has not had as much practice as many of the teams they are competing against, but they are still very competitive. Marietta has been having camp the morning of every 7on7 scrimmage. South has been working on 7on7 all summer, and has been to a camp/competition at WVU. I don't know about Caldwell or Frontier. Warren's camp days do not begin until the week after next. They have had only one practice with the coaches to get organized for the 7on7s. Despite this, Warren's QBs are far ahead of last year, the receivers look better, and the defense is improving all the time. In fact, the defense gets better during every scrimmage.

Ace is right. There are too many dropped passes, but there just haven't been a lot of reps for Warren yet. Moreover, everyone is sharing snaps, so the QBs and receivers still do not have their timing down. It will all come together as the coaches and players begin to practice.

Of course, the best thing of all is that Warren is bigger and stronger than the teams that we have seen so far. They have clearly been working in the weight room more than the other teams.

The 7on7s have been great, and will help Warren's passing game. However, the 7on7s don't give the Warriors the opportunity to show the progress that they have made in strength and conditioning.

The Warrior players are anxious to put on the pads and play real football.

Fan is right is is the most hyped up team I've seen at Warren in years and the boys have had the weight room buzzing.Once we get into camp and the QB's and receivers start getting the timing down things will look better and on looking better the next few years should be great with the junior high program building up with around 45 players this year alone this translates into a bigger better football program.

I was out of town, but heard that Warren handled Wellston quite nicely on Wednesday in 7on7. A great improvement over the first meeting where the teams played pretty evenly. The varsity was able to drive down the field and score consistently. But, the defense was the big area of improvement. They held Wellston and didn't give up much at all.

The players will play Frontier and Marietta tonight at Marietta.

Warren beat Frontier 3-1 and tied Marietta 4-4 tonight in 7on7. Warren had Marietta down 4-2 but let them come back in the last 10 plays. The Warriors are improving nicely. They are very physical (even in 7on7). They won't get shoved around this year.

Camp begins on Monday.

The Warriors are going to surprise some folks this year.
