Not to burst your bubble boilermaker and no disrespect to either team. But, neither Chesapeake or Zane Trace are even near Jackson's level. However, Meigs is as good or better than Wellston and Wheelersburg is much better than Wellston. What I'm getting at is I've seen this before. Wellston thumps up on a couple weaker teams in their scrimmages. Jackson struggles against two stronger teams. Wellston's fans think Jackson is way "down" and this is the "year". The game is played and Jackson kicks Wellston's butts once again. Deja Vu all over again.

HSFBFAN ,No bubble burst here.I want you to show me where I said Jackson was down. I also havent compared anyone to Jackson (ZaneTrace-Chesapeake)We havnt even scrimmaged them yet.
The Jackson game is 17 days away alot of work to be done by both teams before that game.

Just got back from Chesapeake. This is how I saw the scrimmage. Both teams ran 4 -10 play series with Wellston scoring on one of these.Chesapeake got to the Rocket 10 yardline on one series but failed to score. Then they went to down and distance 3 series for each team. Wellston scored two Tds and lost the ball on downs once. Chesapeake failed to score ,and had a 4 and out one series and threw a Int another .I think in the down and distance Chesapeake had 4 first downs.Wellstons defense played pretty well ,but offensively not so good . Wellston has alot of work to do in two weeks to get where they need to be with that first four games,@Jackson,@ Minford ,Waverky H ,and @ Nelsonville. The Rockets must improve to survive this schedule.

The JVs Chesapeake had two series and scored both times .Wellston only had one series and scored with their only series .

A reminder that Wellston will host Zane Trace on Friday Aug. 21 in a Jamboree game.

Admission is $5 and the game will begin at 7 p.m., according to an email I got today from Wellston AD Jeff Hendershott.

Some of my friends from the SVC said that ZT has some talent returning this season. Might be a good test for Wellston to see where they're at...

Wellston needs to improve alot from Saturday . They really didnt play like I thought they would. I know last years scrimmage with Zane Trace was very physical ,I expect the same. I will say that Saturday at times Wellston was physical especially on Defense.

I can't wait to watch what I think will be an exciting game. Go Ironmen and then go rockets for the rest of the season.

boilermaker. I couldn't make the scrimmage. But, I did hear the O-line didn't look very good and that their technique was horrible. If I remember correctly didn't you claim the O-line would be the strength of this years team?

HSFBFAN, Yes I did say that the O-line would be a strength this year ,and it should be . Technique was not the problem.Taking plays off and being lazy was.If they play up front like that, they will be the down fall of this team.

Just got in from the Scimmage .Wellston's varsity looked much better than last week. The Rockets Varsity won 27-7 over Zane Trace. The O-line played like I thought they should have last saturday. The defense was outstanding with exception of on drive late in the 2nd Qrt.The two varsity teams played two quarters the Jvs played two also ,Zane Trace JVs outscoring the Rockets 12 -7 .

Sounds like the Rockets are looking pretty good. Should be an exciting game during Week 1.

Back in the 1800`s when they built the football stadium at Wellston they had to have the poles close to the field because they had only 25 watt bulbs back then. Wellston has not had a good season since their playoff run with Heath Hinton a few years ago but got drilled by bellaire 70 some to 6 over on the river. Several years ago there was talk of a new stadium with field turf up by the High School but like the current field nothing ever changes in Wellston.

wtiger80 ,first the stadium was built in 1928 . Second Bellaire didnt score 70 something, and they did have a pretty good Qb named Nate Davis. If you are from Waverly , you shouldnt be talking down anyones stadium.
Old Rocket , Jaylen is day to day ,not out for the season.
