Week 9 (8-0) Lucasville Valley @ (7-1) Wheelersburg
Re: Week 9 (8-0) Lucasville Valley @ (7-1) Wheelersburg
Valley did a good job of staying balanced at Waverly's mudbowl . I think they will be balanced againsy Burg if only for the reason that Dwyer will take Burg's best player down field all night long or 2 players as a decoy or however many players Burg puts on him . JMO

Anybody have the starting line-ups for each team? It might be nice for the kids if we could put together a pregame "article" of sorts on the game. I think it would be possible to get it posted on SEOPS. If someone can get me the line-ups and some accurate stats, I'd be more than happy to put something together. I might not be the best writer in the world, but I've got some sports writing experience, so I think I could give both teams' fans and players something worth having.

I heard that there was also a soccer game tonight on the field. If that happens, that field will be horrendous.
I have to agree that a muddy field will favor Valley. Burg defense relies on speed to get in the backfiled and a wet, slippery field will take that away from them.

They can do like Ironton did a few years ago before the Burg game. It had rained really hard on Thursday night, so Ironton thought that the field was to wet so they moved the game to Saturday. I believe that was done to give a certain player of theres an extra day to heal plus it made for a huge gate.

It would be standing room only if its not already going to be. I think West and Minford did that 2 years ago and the turn out was unreal people from all different school was there I would like to see all of the Soc II big games on Saturday

Click on Zone Sports just to the right of the Game Of The Week and then choose the option for football or basketball. There are a lot of games from this year and years past on there.

Be careful Here, remember what I said in an earlier post. Burg's line has been outsized in every game that they have played this year. They are not very big on the defensive line but they are very fast. Hard to block someone if they are already by you. That is whay I said a wet, sloppy field favors the Indians. Mud tends to take away speed form a team.
Re: Week 9 (8-0) Lucasville Valley @ (7-1) Wheelersburg
Except for Ironton Burg has not played anybody this year or have they faced a team like Valley since Ironton.

Yes and Valley has played no one outside of West. Schedules are pretty even in my eyes.

You forgot Chesapeake take away a few turn overs and West had all they could handle in that game. I wish a few other teams around here would have played them this year.ManitouDan wrote:Yes and Valley has played no one outside of West. Schedules are pretty even in my eyes.

6-2 Chesapeake will make the playoffs at 8-2 in Region 15.....decent opponent in my eyes.

Bad weather favors the underdog. A good offensive team wants dry conditions they do not want wet and muddy conditions to deal with. The chance of turnovers becomes greater. It doesn't matter whether it's a running or passing team. Qb and center exchanges become shaky, handoffs are more difficult, ball is harder to pass. Valley wants dry conditions for sure.
GO BURG!

They should keep the kick ballers off the field.
Re: Week 9 (8-0) Lucasville Valley @ (7-1) Wheelersburg
Slowing down the two teams will negate each other in itself, the concern is turnovers, footing and balance. For example, it's 3rd and three, a Valley back beats a Burg guy, makes a cut and slips, forcing a for sure 1st down into a punting situation.
