The 15U Southern Ohio Magic started off 2-0 today at the AAU DII National Championships @ Disney World today. They defeated Maryland Elite 47-41 before destroying a team from Georgia.

just got home from the game... Magic came out firing, taking a 12 pt lead! Unfortunately, they went cold and ended up losing today!

SO MAGIC: A really great run with a talented squad from southeast Ohio. The girls played great defense and parlayed that with some good shooting. Won all three games in pool play and the first game out playing bracket ball went 8 for 10 first half on 3 point shots and 12 of 16 for the game. Against the C C Elite trailing by one with Magic having the ball Laiken Gambill hit a baseline jumper at the buzzer to put the Magic in the final four. In the semi-final good shooting and awesome defense led to a 11 point win. In the national final playing the South Carolina Lowcountry Ballers the Ohio girls jumped out to a 23-13 lead but trailed at half 33-30. In the end could not pull out the win but game was still in doubt with 5 minutes to play and ended up losing 67-58. There are girls on the Magic team that have been to 7 and 6 national basketball tournaments so this was one of the really good experiences.

Congrats to all the Southern Ohio Magic ladies!!! You ladies have worked hard all spring and summer and we are very proud of your successful 2009 season. Want to thank all the players, parents and our supporters. We want to thank the Portsmouth Daily Times and Casei Todt from SSU, along with Minford H.S., Logan H.S., Northwest H.S. and Shawnee State University for allowing us use of their gyms. It is great to see other AAU teams supporting our team. Thanks Ohio Express.

Southern Ohio Magic 15u girls are attending the adidas national showcase (NCAA certified event) in Cleveland, Ohio July 25th and 26th.

Southern Ohio Magic 15u girls won their pool in Cleveland at the Adidas NCAA Showcase and played up against Michigan Jets 16-17u. Lost in overtime but a great game. AAU has put clips of the girls on youtube.com under 2009 aau girls 15u nationals.

Great job and want to thank Bri Libertore from Louisville, Ohio and Bailey from Logan. Hope you jump ship next year with the Magic. Love to have you both!!!
