Post by trojanofthepast »

Just wondering what SP has coming back and how everyone sees this one playing out in WK 1.

If South Point couldn't beat them last year, they probably won't beat them this year.

I think the Trojans win this by 2 scores this year. Nothing against SP, I just think this years team will be much improved over last year. GO TROJANS

I might just pop in for the first half of this one, then head on up to Coal Grove for the 2nd half.
I see this being a pretty close game for about a half. But I agree that the Trojans will win by at least two scores.

It will interesting to see how improved the Trojans are........we definitely should be improved.........if we don't play well, we shouldn't use the "first game" excuse......it's the Pointers' first game also.

I want to see good, crisp play from our special teams.........

I look for a win by Portsmouth and a 7-3 season.......no worse than 6-4.

If Portsmouth did well in the scrimmage against Minford, they ought to be able to handle South Point rather easily. . .

That's what I heard. . . and if they passed as well as everyone's saying, they'll eat South Point alive.

Portsmouth looked good at Minford. Their passing game looked great, but that was without the line having to pick up the inside blitz (agreed upon before the game, no inside blitzing). I think that Portsmouth line should be able to handle it when it comes.

I was suprised that Portsmouth looked as good as they did Saturday after the year they had last year. I hope they do well in the SEOL this year and I will go on record and take them by 14 against South Point.

I caught a little bit of a practice last week and we looked pretty sharp. They had come together from where they were at the Valley passing camp last month.

no inside blitzing would explain why both teams had time to throw the ball at Minford on saturday, I still think both teams had a good scrimage, and both teams found some things that needed work...thats what made it a good scrimmage.

South Point seems to be improving each year, so this wont be no easy game, just hope the Trjans can get out of there with a win.

I think the Trojans will be much improved from what I seen last weekend at Minford. I believe we have some skill players that can make plays this year. This group is no longer considered young so that will not be an excuse. We have a very good QB, some very skilled WR, and a DEF that is much fast and more aggressive than last year. The weight room and maturity really shows with this group compared to last year from what I've seen.

Trojans - 35
Pointers - 14

From what I have seen and heard, Portsmouth's defense is going to be very good this year. I look for this game to be a blowout and Portsmouth will enter the "new digs" 1-0. I don't see the Trojans being an offensive power this year but, they will hang 42 in this one. NOTE TO THE TROJANS : Don't overlook this game for the big home opener. That does worry me a little. But, I still stick to my prediction.

Portsmouth - 42
South Point - 0

Yes Portsmouth looked good at Minford. The run defense gave up a little more than they would have liked but Minford does have one of the better running games in the area.

I'll say Ptown 41
SP 13
