I can't believe this,,,you realize not putting Ironton vs. Portsmouth you are opening yourself up to the Ironton fans.

Have to go with NY vs. Trimble. These two schools love to hate each other.

I really didn't think Logan and Langcaster were big rivals.

I would think Jackson -Wellston has to be up there. I think they have played 98 times. Even though its pretty onesided ,Wellston only winning 26 times with a few ties. This game is always heated and has a huge crowd. This game used to be played on Thanksgiving Day , until it got out of hand with fighting and such.

Rock Hill is NOT and I repeat IS NOT Coal Grove's biggest rival. Look at the all-time series record and tell me that it's a "rivalry". This game traditionally has merely been a stepping stone for Coal Grove en route to an OVC Championship or a season-salvaging win for Rock Hill.
South Point/Coal Grove has more OVC implications than any other matchup, traditionally. . . and there's plenty of bad blood.

From 1954 to 1992, Coal Grove was 31-6 against Rock Hill. The only reason people made a rivalry game out of this was because Coal Grove's record slipped against the Redmen in the 90s. But rather than just say that and get back to business as usual, we have to make some big, drawn-out thing over it. Yawn. Boring. Get real Coal Grove fans. You're SUPPOSED to beat Rock Hill. Quit acting like it's some great accomplishment.
From '93 to the '08, the series sits at 9-7 in favor of Coal Grove. REALLY something to be proud of. . .

Have to put Bellaire vs. Martins Ferry in there. I believe it's one of Ohio's oldest.

In it's heyday you'd have Beallsville vs. Woodsfield, but Woodsfield consolidated with Skyvue to form Monroe Central and the rivals haven't played the past 3 or 4 years I'm not positive.

Might put River vs. Magnolia WV as a rivalry, but in all seriousness, I don't think this subject would be legit if the schools didn't play at least 70 times.

Portsmouth's most intense football rivalry is with Ironton, followed closely by Wheelersburg........Chillicothe is a bigger rivalry in basketball, with Ironton, Wheelersburg, and Ashland(KY) also.

For me nothing matches Portsmouth and Ironton. It doesn't matter what the recordes are these 2 just plain don't like each other.

I think this is acutally the 2nd longest contiunes rivialry in the state.

Throughout the state...hell...throughout the nation...nothing will top Massillon vs McKinley...I'd have to say Portsmouth vs Ironton would be next...Logan just wants to beat Lancaster b/c of the beatings they have given us and the length of time it took us to get a win over them...but I don't think that's a real rivalry yet either...love the Cavs vs Logan too...and it will progress into something...but I don't think it's a big rivalry right now either.
