10 and 11 year old boys district tournament at Chesapeake

Post by a_c_m »

The tournament opens tomorrow in Chesapeake, July 13th at 5:30 with Wheelersburg and Chesapeake.

The other two teams in the tournament are Rock Hill and Ironton.

Does anyone have any updated information regarding these four teams? Are those four teams still going to play? What is the schedule after tomorrow?
Thanks!

Good Luck to all teams!

Just a guess but I'd think the two winners will play each other and Tuesday and the two losers will also play each other on Tuesday. That will eliminate one team on Tuesday.

There should be the winner from one Tuesday game vs. the loser of the other Tuesday game that will take place on Thursday. That will eliminate a 2nd team.

Two teams should be left on Friday and play Friday and Saturday if needed.

I asked someone today and was told there will be one game per day so that guess I made isn't right. There are only 4 teams in the tourney so it won't drag on for long.

Wheelersburg 11
Chesapeake 0

4 innings

Wheelersburg tallied 4 in the first, 5 in the second, 2 in the third and 0 in the fourth.

Brayden Lindamood pitched a no hitter, striking out 9 with 2 walks! Congrats Brayden!

Great job by all of the young pirate men! Hats off to the Chesapeake team making some excellent plays at home plate. Your catcher did a fine job!

The field was in excellent shape! Good job Chesapeake!

Tomorrow at 5:30, Ironton and Rock Hill meet with the winner of that game playing Wheelersburg on Thursday at 5:30.

Good Luck to the Panthers, Tigers, Redmen and Pirates!

Directions to the fields...........Take Route 52 to Chesapeake........Take the first exit down into Chesapeake......turn left...........pass Shopping Center on the left........turn at the next left..........the Road is ? Branch Road..............go about 1/2 mile the fields are on the right.

Or...............stay on Route 52 and go around like you are going to cross the bridge into Huntington.........turn right at the light.........go one block......turn right on the Branch Road and go about 1/2 mile......the fields are on the right.

On behalf of the volunteers at Chesapeake, thanks for noticing the field conditions. There have been a handful of volunteers that have practically lived on that field for the last 3 weeks. Trying to get things ready for District and State, with 3 separate All Star teams trying to get practice time and hosting a machine pitch tournament has been very difficult. And there is still work to do before State. Thanks guys and gals...you know who you are and your work is greatly appreciated!

Good luck to all the teams in the tournament. Panthers, keep your heads up! Come back ready to play hard in your next game. And remember, win or lose, what could be better than being young and playing ball?!?!?!

Wheelersburg 17
Ironton 1

4 innings

Chase Burk pitched the complete game, striking out 11, gave up 3 hits with no walks. The lone run for Ironton was by #1 (Sorry I do not have his name) who put it out of the park in the bottom of the fourth. Burk homered for Wheelersburg, while the rest of the squad had several players with multiple hits. Another great outing for the young Pirates.

After one inning it was Burg 9-0, after two is was still 9-0, at the end of three it was 13-0 and the final 17-1.

Congratulations Pirates and Coaches; Lindamood, Risner and Marvin. Keep up the good work!

Host Chesapeake and Rock Hill play in the losers bracket on Friday, I believe. Ironton meets the winner of that game on Saturday?. Wheelersburg awaits the winner of that bracket on Monday at 5:30. Good Luck to all teams!

I think Ironton won today which leaves Ironton vs. Wheelersburg on Monday for the district championship.

i'm glad to see chase burk doing well. i have known him since he was really young, and i have put my knowledge and experience to work trying to help him become a beter player. seems like it was yesturday i showed him how to stand on the mound when he was first starting to play baseball. he is a fine player and is able to play with a fine group of kids at wheelersburg. i look for his age group to be VERY successfull at every sport they play for years and years to come

Thanks SWbaseballFan! Nice stuff about Chase!

In tonight's action, Wheelersburg defeated Ironton 10-0 in 3 1/2 innings to win the District Championship!

Brayden Lindamood got the win on the mound, striking out 5, giving up 1 hit I believe. There was a walk or two.

After one, it was 8-0 Wheelersburg; after 2 innings 9-0; 10-0 after three which was the final score.

Congrats Wheelersburg!

Wheelersburg plays next in the State Tournament at Chesapeake on Saturday 8/1 at 2 PM vs. the winner of District 7, which is in the North Central part of the state.
Good Luck young men!
