SHL 09-10 Scores and Standings
Re: SHL 09-10 Scores and Standings
Wow, strong showing by WU. Is this the same GH team that made it to Regionals last season?

What a great game...keep you head up boys you played amazing!!
Last year they were probably the worst team in the SHL and now they are almost beating regional finalists, what happened? WU kind of suprised me at the preview as well, almost knocking off whiteoak.

I don't really see how anyone knocks off anyone in a preview. Most teams don't show anything, play everyone, and often times try and hide things.

For the most part it was a real game. Whiteoak played their starters for the majority of the game and WU did a good job of containing them despite probably having less talent on the floor. It dosent matter if it is a preview or a real game, neither team will come out and purposely play below their abilities.

I was at the SHL preview this year and if my memory serves me right, Whiteoak played a 3rd grade 2-3 defense and what appeared to be a play ground free style offense. I'm pretty sure they don't do those things in their regular season games- as most teams in southern Ohio don't either.
Re: SHL 09-10 Scores and Standings
wow really...i just read this post because i havent been on in a while, and im utterly amazed at some of the posts. Seaman no further then SSCC, thats a joke. Maybe you havent seen peebles play or you werent paying attention, but hes the captain for a reason, because he is the leader of that team. hes not just a shooter ;). hes a package deal. if he decides to play basketball instead of baseball (and he will have that option) then he will end up at a good D-2 school if not better. the indians are full of talent this year, so watch the whole team and take your eyes off justice for 5 minutes if u wanna see the work horses on that team. Im sure hard workers like Stephens, Collier, Countryman, Arey, and several others would appreciate some of the glory they deserve and havent gotten. Seaman is a beast. period. if they do as well as they are expected to do, it will be a team effort. and i think seaman will be the biggest threat without question. he can hurt you from anywhere on the court, that cant be said for many players

I think Seaman should have shut up all you ppl on here that have been underestimating him after his performance at the Convo against a very good Zane Trace team...i believe it was 29 pts..and he was lighting it up from 3pt range. The kid has always been a great gaurd and as someone already mentioned is probably one of the top 3 gaurds in the southeastern ohio region...there should not be any reason why he wouldn't get attention from some D-2 school and possibly some D-1 schools.
BTW...ppl should be giving Ripley a little bit more respect...they didnt get any votes to be the number one team in the league...yet North Adams who can't seem to buy a win, gets three votes...lets get serious now ppl... here's my thoughts
1.Peebles
2.Ripley
3.Manchester
4/5. Fairfield and Lychburg
6.Whiteoak
7.Fayetteville
8.Eastern
9.North Adams
10.West Union

I do believe that Seaman will go D-2 or better, but consider that Terrell Cumberland of SSCC is averaging 35 ppg. in college ball, and he went to Hillsboro. Didn't get any bigger offers, and look at him now.
Re: SHL 09-10 Scores and Standings
Agreed. Cumberland is a perfect example of the difference in H.S. to College ball.. Seam can dominate people his size but what about those taller more athletic kids he could play?

Tirrell is a great player and an even better person but his stats are the product of him being asked to shoot every time he gets the ball. Seaman is a more well rounded player. He can find the open man, rebound over guys 2 or 3 inchs taller than him, gaurd the other team's best player, and put up 30 points if need be.

Eastern should be much higher, they are undefeated and have already beat a good manchester team.

Re: SHL 09-10 Scores and Standings
I agree, Seaman is very solid. He is comfortable beyond the arc, he sees the floor well, and is also able to jump like crazy and fights for rebounds. He is very physical, long armed and just athletic! I think he is the key to Peebles- you shut him down, and let the other members of the team get theirs, and you have a good chance of beating them.
Re: SHL 09-10 Scores and Standings
I'm glad to see i sparked some interest with my last comment, its good to see that many people see and agree with me about Seaman. And as far as the Cumberland thing goes, i don't know a whole lot about him but i do know that academic performance could be a factor---perfect example, Craig Unger was a great player and he was expected to do well with offers, but hes at UC Clermont because he wasn't getting it done in the classroom, this isn't the case with Seaman from what I've heard. And Seaman will be seen, every time a scout comes to see Justice he's going to leave forgetting what he came for and a little note written in his binder that says CALL #30!!
On another note, nobody said much about the rest of my post. There are a lot of other guys on that team who play great hard nosed ball every night, i love to see them get some respect on here. Come on Indian fans, lets hear what you think about the rest of them.

If the other team decides to try to take Seaman out of the game the Indians have a couple other weapons that will hurt someone if left unchecked. If Justice gets in a groove he is nearly impossible for other teams to gaurd, McFarland is a lights out shooter and has the ability to reach double digits quickly, Stephens is one of those glue players that seem to make teams(He is one of the hardest workers on the floor and plays like he is 6-2), Collier is a workhorse who despite his size is able to shut down the other teams big man(Exp. Chamberlain ZT). If a team makes a concious effort to just focus on Seaman I will bet they will walk out of the gym with a loss.

Eric Collier- plays at 110%. There is never a time he is not fighting for the ball, pushing people twice his size around in the paint, or distracting defensive players so that someone else for Peebles can score. He deserves kudos.

My bad TribeManiac10...I did not know about that win...but taking that into consideration...i would have to agree they deserve a much higher rating...i was jus going on what i heard from other sources around the league and they thought that Eastern was going to be to young and inexperienced, but its good to hear they are doing well.

This is what is bad about what could be a fun thing to read. People with no knowledge post information that is not only false but hurtfull to a nice young man that has done nothing to deserve it. I can assure you Kraig Unger is not at UC Clermont because he could not get it done in the classroom. He had several offers that he considered. Those offers would not have been there had grades been a problem. He is doing what he needs to do to get where he wants to be. As his HS coach I have supported his decision 100%. Have fun writing what you will but be carefull because sometimes we open our mouths and display a level of intelligence that is not pretty.

Thanks you lol and also i believe Unger was D-3 player of the year! So i think he is better than the top 3 guards in the S.E. district like someone said that Seaman was in the category of. Unger was and is better than Seaman and he went to UC-Clermont.

Seaman is in that category. He is the best gaurd in the SHL and right in the mix with Legg and Ondera. I believe Seaman and Legg have both played ZT this yr and with very similiar results, Legg with 28 and Seaman with 29, enough said.
