Piketon Redstreaks at Waverly Saturday

Post by soccerfix »

I think that some of the Piketon supporters can still taste their foot in their mouth after last year's classic. Lot of boasting before the game last year, haven't heard much this year. Two athletic teams going at it. Cross county rivalry that is great for the community not to mention the gate. Best of luck to both teams and hopefully you can duplicate last year's game for the ages.

I have to work Saturday, so I can't be at the game. Hopefully it will be a great game with the Streaks coming out on top. GO STREAKS!

It would be nice to see piketon close the 2-23 deficit (I think thats the all time record for this series), but I don't think even with all of the talent they have they can beat waverly....40-35

Is kickoff going to be at 7:30 pm or at 7pm I have to know whether to show up at 10am or 10:30am.
This game will tell a lot about both teams. Waverly only won one game last year at home, but played a rough schedule. I have to take the Tigers at Radaiger Field.

tjfred, do you know where you'll be setting up? Hopefully next to the PA announcer.

Which radio station will be there? I'm assuming 100.9 since the game is a Waverly.
Who will be the radio annoncers?

Waverly always beats their little County rival Piketon. This game is great for the gate but even last year Piketon couldn`t hold on for the win . Look for Waverly by 14 or more in this one. Might have been closer if played at Piketon.

Big tailgate party starting at 4pm in the parking lot of Waverly. Free food and music. It costs nothing to tailgate but PLEASE bring canned food items items to help restock the Pike County food pantry. The Waverly boosters are sponsoring but we are all on the same team when it comes to fighting hunger.

Should be another classic. Revenge is definitely on the redstreaks mind since they blew this game a year ago. I look for them to come out and take it to the tigers early. I just dont think it will be enough to contain Roback. I gotta go with the tigers in another barnburner.

I have never seen a game lose its luster as fast as this one! Last year every where you went Piketon people talked and bragged about beating Waverly. They had pep rallies and etc... they really came out sky high- and the Waverly kids just seemed to be so-so about the game and ended up playing poorly but still managed to win.

This year both squads seem to be so-so about the game- i realize last year was suppose to be the year for Piketon to beat Waverly but this year should be a pretty even matched game.

I think Waverly better come to play because - just because you dont hear all the trash talking from a year ago doesnt mean the pesky Red Streaks dont have some revenge on thier minds. This game could be a close one and if Waverly does not play well they will get beat and then all the trash talking will return.

Waverly wins a close one-- Tigers by 4, however I do look for Tyler Tackett to have a huge night running the ball- he is simply an outstanding runner. I hope both teams play well!

I'm sure Piketon will try to control the ball, take time off the clock, and keep it away from the Tigers offense. If they can do that, they have a shot at winning.
Waverly's offense will score when they have the ball. Too many weapons and the O-line is better than last year.

Waverly's defense MUST be able to stop the run. If they can do that it won't be much of a game.

* Tail-gate party at 4:00p.m. (BRING CANNED GOODS FOR THE PIKE COUNTY FOOD PANTRY)

* The 89' team will be recognized before the game. Get there early to get a seat and welcome these guys back to Raidager Field.

I hope the players up there at Wavelry have that much optimism about beating Piketon. Wont be much of a game if they stop the run, same could be said if Piketon slows down Roback wont be much of a game! lol

Lets just compare some things shall we?

Roback, no doubt the best athlete on the field.
Malone, solid runner.
Kretzer, good hands and athletic.
Price and Tackett, dont know much but cant definately be overlooked.

Southworth, no doubt a very good athlete, receiver and defender.
Miller, strong runner and decent arm.
Tackett, fast, quick and hard nosed on both sides of the ball.
Adams, Vulgamore, Helton are all solid athletes who will contribute.

So whats does this tell me, both teams are blessed with some fine skill players. Like someone smart earlier said, the big boys up front will determine this one again! lol

So eagles73, if Waverly stops the run Piketon will still be able to move the ball and outscore Waverly?
Who said anything about be so optimistic? I just pretty much said something everybody else knows.
Don't you think the players and coaches for both teams should be confident? If they're not what's the use of playing the game?
