MINFORD @ RIVER VALLEY- WEEK 1
Well we are a week away from opening night and I cant wait.
Going from some of the posters comments on here about River Valley, they are a young team that hasnt really found themselves yet as far as kids filling all positions.
Minford looked really good against Rock Hill, but sputtered a bit against Portsmouth in their scrimmages.
Lets get the talk going...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont think that RV will be able to stop the 3 back attack running game of Minford, and I think Minford comes out strong and proves a statement. I will go with
Minford 42
RV 7
What are the thoughts on this one?

Re: MINFORD @ RIVER VALLEY- WEEK 1
Minford ran the ball really well and played very good run defense against Portsmouth but sputtered some on the pass offense (a pick and three dropped balls). On pass D Minford gave up two big plays. I'd say 42=7 is about right. I don't see River Valley stopping the run. I'd expect Minford to do better on pass O. Portsmouth is an excellent pass team and pass blocks very well.

This is going to be a tough match-up for a VERY young Raider team. They are headed in the right direction, but gonna take their bumps and bruises this season....good luck to both teams!

Well said. I think that RV is still in a rebuilding stage, and even though there are a few OVC teams that they should play with, they will face a tough Minford squad that will probably make them better in the long run.
But hey it is high school football and ANYTHING can happen!

Re: MINFORD @ RIVER VALLEY- WEEK 1
RV running a 4-2-5 Defense once again will give up too many big running plays, this is not a good matchup against Minfords very talented backfield
Young Raiders lose 44-0
Young Raiders lose 44-0

Minford loses at least two, but makes the playoffs. That's a bit more reasonable, I think.

Re: MINFORD @ RIVER VALLEY- WEEK 1
If Minford comes out hard and fast like they will need to all year, this game will be over quickly and the starters will get out in the 3rd quarter. If Minford comes out flat and lets this young team hang around too long, they might just find themselves in a dogfight. The most dangerous thing a talented team can do is let a young team hang around until they think they have a chance. The Falcons will need to come out much more fired up than they were against East to put this one away early like they should. I would say that Coach Daniels and Co. will have the team fired up and ready to get some work done this friday, I'll take Minford 35-0 at halftime, 49-14 final after they empty the bench.
