My sons 1st Ohio State Football game!
Well, I really wanted to take him to Ohio Stadium, but I just cant afford to pay for it for any games I want to watch. So I just bought 4 tickets to the Indiana game at Indiana. Only $50 a piece and a short trip over their. I will eventually take him to a game at Ohio stadium, when money isnt so tight! lol He is only 5 years old. It will be me, my boy, my brother and best friend making the road trip, I expect a great time!

My first game was Illinois Ohio State. It was a QB shootout. OSU won 49-42 I believe.

TTT is right about Bloomington. It's probably one of the nicest campus settings in the country.

Indiana has really upgraded their facilities recently!Terry Hoeppner had alot to do with that before he died,Seemed like he really had that program going in the right direction! Some pics below of the new facilities!

The only Ohio State game I ever attended was because I knew a Minnesota alum. Since we were sitting on the "Minnesota" side, it got a little dicey when I forgot where I was and cheered for the Buckeyes. Seriously - if you know anyone who attended another Big 10 school, they can get tickets on the "visitor's" side for a reduced rate when their school comes to Columbus to play Ohio State.

My first game was OSU vs. Minnesota at Ohio State. I forget what year but after OSU won the students stormed the field and tore down the goal posts. It was scary.

eagles73: Enjoy it with your son, he will always remember it I'm sure!
My first OSU game was two years ago. Mr. Mum had gone and taken both sons before, but, I had never attended an OSU game. My first game I had the privilege to watch my son come out on the opposing team and face the Buckeyes. They took a beating, but, it was still a tremendous experience just to see him warm up on the "O". This year, I am going to see him walk out at PITT and see his first college start. I'm blessed and grateful that he has this experience in front of him! Great atmosphere at OSU, but, thanks to YSU my son's education is paid for and he has a great opportunity! GO BUCKS, but, GOOOO PENGUINS too!

Minnesota? What year was that? Did they have wooden goal posts back in those days?

They did have wooden goal posts. It had to be in the 70's.
Re: My sons 1st Ohio State Football game!
The OSU - Minnesota game I attended was in 1977, I believe. After the afternoon game I drove back down to Wilmington where I had left my kids with their Grandpa, attended my 15th High School Class Reunion that night, and visited with my father the next day before heading back home to Ironton.
I'm pretty sure OSU won the game, but I don't remember anything about goal posts being torn down.
Prior to leaving on that trip I was bragging here in Ironton about the great weekend I had planned - OSU game and HS class reunion [I lied and said it was my 10th]; and one of the group of people I was telling instantly responded, "And the 10 years she spent in High School were the happiest of her life." So much for "fudging" about my age! It didn't work then, and it most certainly wouldn't work now!
I remember the game being in September and hot - I went to my class reunion that night with badly sunburned arms! But it was still a really great weekend - both my kids + 40 now - and I remember it.

My first was Ohio State vs. Iowa, sat in Vern Riffe's seats on the visitor side around the fifty yard line. It was Archie, Pete, Corny and company and they rolled Iowa 45-7.

My 1st game was one fo the darkest days in OSU history!Indiana hadnt beaten the Buckeyes in 31 years but did that day I was there 31-10 in 1987!Indiana had Dave Schnell at QB and Anthony Thompson at RB "GOOD TEAM"!Was also Earl Bruce's last season in Columbus!
