Week 1 Player of the Week
Re: Week 1 Player of the Week
Money, I'm going to stick with the CG/Meigs game and go with Frank Delawder. He kept the chains moving in the 4th and kept Meigs' offense off the field and kept the clock running.
You're absolutely right, though. The score doesn't show it, but the CG defense made plays when they had to.

fuzz,
I agree from the offensive side delawder put them on his back in the last two drives, but sometimes I think a defensive guy needs to get some recognition. The kid Murphy was guarding only caught 3 for 35 and that pretty good considering they threw his way 15-18 times. The Bolin kid from Meigs made some great catches also on balls Well threw where only he could catch them. Well has an outstanding arm. Meigs should win at least 8 this year. Smith and Roush are also very skilled backs. This was an awesome game and you almost spoke too soon.

Bohica,
That's what I was thinking too. Give it to a defensive guy every now and then.

Hey, no argument here! There's no doubt that quite a few Hornets made important plays. I'm glad the guys played so well all around that it could be debated as to who the mvp of the game was.

I think you got to it to the Coal Grove DB's. Yes a couple times Meigs receiver's had a step on them but some how CG kids got a hand on it. I think that Ferguson had a real nice game with the Offense.. Great game to watch....

Re: Week 1 Player of the Week
I want to say Warren’s D was pretty tough Friday Night with their 56-0 win over Belpre. Even the JV didn’t give up a score the last 1 & 1/2 quarters. Plus the special teams had two blocked punts. But I would have to say my vote would be for Perry Wheeler from Marietta, 319 yards and 6 touchdowns are pretty hard to vote against. We’ll get a chance to see just how tough Warren’s D-line is against the run here is just a few weeks when we face Marietta on September 18th.

Oh, and scored 6 TD's in the Tigers 59-20 win over Morgan
Everybody is proud of their team but after reading these stats for a week 1 performance, I didnt bother entering my vote!!
Perry Wheeler...hands down.

I agree with Warren's "D"....Belpre never threatened to score....anytime you post a shutout you have done your job! But you can't argue Wheeler....

Sorry about that I just went by what was in the paper and if it was in the paper I must have missed that part. I edited my post and added it in there
Re: Week 1 Player of the Week
Matt Near from Westfall had 148 yards and two touchdowns on only 7 carries! Scary thing is...he would have had another 40 or 50 yards and a touchdown but his helmet popped off on a hit. He was all alone but the play was whistled dead.

In the Nelsonville York @ Trimble game my nominees are from NY TE Connor Bunting 5 rec 105 yards and from Trimble LB Johnny Stobart had around 15-20 tackles both kids had great games in what will go down as one of the best Nelsonville York vs Trimble games in the history of the rivalry !
