Defense wins, and with a core of Pendelton and Compton the better defense will lie at West. Myers will see #75 Cooper in his face all night. Good luck trying to block that kid.

Coaches will get that O-line going like they did between weeks 1 and 2 last year and the big backs will role.

This game will be too close to call. I prefer to let the game speak for itself, so no predictions. Should be a very tight matchup though. Even though its cliche to say it, the team who takes care of the ball will win this game and thats hard to predict early in the season when teams are still struggling to work out the kinks.

One thing to look for and we saw it friday. In the 3rd and especially 4th quarter the conditioning of West's team becomes a factor. Fairland was wore out. West's style of play and those big backs take their tole also.

Portsmouth is very well conditioned this year also. South Point was cramping and wheezing a lot in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I think Portsmouth's depth was a big factor, not having to play everyone both ways the whole game, only in certain spots for the most part. We need to get some kids back though, we were without half our regular defense Friday, and that will be a much bigger factor as we take a step up in competition this week.

The Trojans have the talent to win this game.......I think it is VERY important for Portsmouth to come out with a win.......remember last year after we won our first game........9 straight losses........to go 2-0 is critical to the psyche of our kids......it is not the fact that we're playing West, even though they spanked us last year.....it is not the fact that we are playing our first game in our beautiful Trojan Coliseum.......it is more important for us to start out 2-0 and with that put away any thoughts of 2008.
