Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
Gahs,
You can not understand the insanity of starting every year 0-1. How can i expect you to grasp a more complex issue. 0-1 for 19 years. Can you grasp that???? There is nothing else that needs to be said.

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
Actually you have a grasp of a concept. Yes if you have had the same BAD, HORRIBLE, HORENDOUS start for 19 years it is TIME to do something different. It is amazing to me that you can not grasp this concept. Some times you have rto change things up. It really should not be that hard to understand and i should not have to explain it to posters over an over. i have much more knowledge to impart and help posters understand concepts.

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
This is like asking if Trimble should continue playing Nelsonville or Alexander....They do it because it's tradition! It's how school rivalries are built...period!

Neither of those series have ever gone 19 years with only one winner. So nice try, but just not the same. Also those teams are in the same league even if not in same division.

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
Ummm I am pretty sure that Alexander has NEVER beat Nelsonville. I have been out of school for almost 16 years and the 4 years I was in High School so that is 20 years that I am sure of. And yes they are in the same league I agree. I'm not as well versed in football as all of you. I was just using what I know as an example. Jackson and Wellston are traditional rivals ...they are close so it's financially feasible....It's just one of those games that must be...I don't know I guess I just look at it on more of an emotional aspect?
If I were Wellston would I be tired of getting my A@@ handed to me every year by the same team...I'm sure I probably would. But it would give me a reason to train better and work harder.
Wouldn't be nice to be part of THAT team that took the big dogs down!

It is not a matter of knowledge. It is a matter of common sense. Let me explain. The Nelsonville Alexander thing is a conference match up. You have NO Choice but to play the teams in your conference. The Trimble thing does have different winners althugh nelsonville probably has more victories. It has NEVER gone 19 years without each team winning some. If Wellston and Jackson were a league game this topic would not be open.

2old.....First off, my username is Keyser_soze78, not "Keysor". Thank you.
Had you enrolled in Dr. Lambert's Journalism Newswriting course at Ohio University, you would have received an automatic "F" for spelling my name incorrectly.
Secondly, my post was not "a vote" of any kind, let alone a "vote much like a Jackson fan." You obviously choose not to believe the fact that Wellston has won in week two several times in the past 20 years.
But such an answer from you is not surprising. Truth be told, finding Osama Bin Laden I believe is much, much easier than trying to reason with you.

Geezer,
You are much more impressed with your self than I am impressed by you.
Being a journalist i would recommend you look at the FACTS. I realize the use of facts are not taught in journalism schools any longer, but i do not wish to get into a political discussion. Wellston has lost this contest 19 consecutive years. You can reason with me but you must come armed with facts.
Although Wellston has won game two several times in the last 19 years, the FACT remains they have lost game one for 19 years. The FACTS remain on my side.

gahs4ever.....Hope you have been feeling better and glad to see you back on here.
I wouldn't waste my time trying to rationalize with 2old. He and I have a long history, none of which has been - or ever will be - good. He is God ya know.

2old doesn't now and will never have any kind of school pride. Sometimes things just don't have to make since..they just are!
Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
91,
It is refreshing to see you understand my obviously higher reasoning than some of the naysayers on here. Yes take a little less money and win some football games.
Let me assure all you posters who can not see the value of my obvious idea.
It is more fun to win. Do not mention school spirit to me. Team, school, and football teams all benefit from winning.
As some of you have tired of some of my posts about Logan, believe me it is a lot more fun to win football games. if you do not believe me just keep reading my posts, yu will get it.
Leave it to a professional journalist to resort to name calling. At least the name he calls me shows he realizes my supreme dominance.

2old.....Nope, not name calling.
But "supreme dominance" by you? Hardly.
Unbelievable arrogance and/or ultimate psychosis is more like it.

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
Thanks to this stubborn idea that Wellston HAS to play Jackson, Wellston has a solid harbin computer point total of 00000000000.
i suggest playing a team more on the competitive level of Wellston could change that.

Maybe it's not your schedule, since you have all the answers maybe you should coach?
schedule Eastern and South Webster than you are for sure going to get wins since they do not have football programs and can have your points. Come on man coaches have to coach and maybe their ideas are the problem not the schedule? Enough Already!!!
Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
No it is the schedule. To repeat the same strategy for 19 years is the sure sign of a problem. If others can not see it they suffer from the same problem. Even the Jackson fans should demand more, but I know they sure enjoy the victory. It is a short term benefit for jackson and is one of the reasons Jackson has not played for the SEOAL title for 10 years.
Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
GAHS,
I see you have not caught on yet. This comes as no surprise to me. Yes there were years Logan was over scheduled. Logan elected to go with long term benefits rather than wait for the DJ's or Jared Humphries of the world to come around.
Logan has actually built a program and CONTINUES to dominate the teams in the league. Of course recently they have included much larger schools like Lancaster and Pickerington North as victims of this football machine known as the Chiefs. You will get to see this Friday nitght if you stay for the entire game. The JV of Logan will get plenty of playing time against the starters of Gallia.
School starts now so take notes. Wellston needs to learn how to win. 19 years PROVES that is not going to happen at this time by playing Jackson.
Winning games will bring out more athletes. This may be a tough concept for you but kids do not liek to get their heads kicked in. For example notice the number of seniors on the Gallia roster. We get fsrther away from the successful Gallia teams eveey year.
In the case of Wellston i would say go 10-0 one year and not make the playoffs and then worry about scheduling up. In Wellston's current condition the TVC is plenty challenging enough.
Gallia's last championship was not that long ago but the kids playing this year were in grade school the last time Gallia wore the crown.
Ok that is enough for you to digest at this time.
Go out for recess and be sure to get your cookies and milk.
Oh one correction on your effort. This is not a rivalry. For a game to be a rivalry both teams have to win occassionally. i am afraid the Logan Gallia game will soon not be any sort of rivalry. Ahh i liked the good old days when i could watch DJ and say "you know Gallia is pretty good".

Re: Should Wellston Keep Playing Jackson?
GAHS,
obviously the milk and cookies did not sit well with you. i think maybe you have the dreaded whine flu.
I am going to give you one more short lesson so pay attention. Logan has built a program it is not a matter of kids. Yes the Conrad class along with their team mates was a special group. And Pat and his buddies are special. However logan has also been successful during the other years. The type of years Gallia and jackson are sufffering now. Anyone could win with DJ. Heck a guy like you could coach DJ and win. Logan has a program that wins without those kind of kids. Too many schools are happy waiting for the DJ's of the world to show up. Logan has taken another tact. I prefer building the program. In week 11 you can sit on the porch and remember playing Beaver Local.
Actually i do not expect you to understand this. Hoepfully your new staff will see Logan is the premier program in the area and should be studied to learn how to win. It will make the league stronger. And if Gallia gets better you won't be so grumpy.
If you want to see success look at the current SEOAL win streak of the Chiefs and the consecutive Championships the Chiefs have won following the model I suggest.
Gallia and Wellson have the same record in 2009. No wonder you feel such a kinship.
