Final tune up before the games start getting tougher each and every week. Minford rolls in this one a lot to not much. Game might get out of hand early because the starters need to stay in the whole first half and a series or two after halftime to get some work in to prepare for the rest of the schedule. Falcons go to 3-0 and pitch a shutout.

Minford is going to be solid this year. May see 3 teams from the SOC2 in the playoffs.

I am sure the mistakes from last week will be addressed by the staff.....how will the kids respond is the question? I have not seen emotion or leadership from these Falcons yet. Falcons win this week.

I dont know how good of a season they are going to have, but I can tell you that for the amount of talent this Minford team has, they better wake up and smell the coffee because they plain quit during the second quarter vs Wellston after coming out on fire.

There are many questions still unanswered that we will find out in the next few weeks:

What I'm waiting on is AO at QB to start lighting up the sky's. He is one of the best QB in the county if not the best. He has two of the fastest WR in Butcher and Mcnight and a great TE in Price. The RB can catch. Minford needs to get the passing game going. 5 attempts a game is not enough. They need to be more balanced or at lest 60-40.

I'm sure they do, but not the technique that you are recommending. Putting your facemask intentionally into a kid on a tackle is facetackling. A 15 yard penalty. Do you know any good officials to set you straight? ;-)

There are many questions still unanswered that we will find out in the next few weeks:

1.) Can they defend the pass? Why are the corners, who are fast, playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage on the WR? Then to turn around and get beat 20 yards downfield!

2.) Are they going to slack off in another game and blow a lead? They came out like a ball of fire vs Wellston and then just folded. They did a great job in the fourth quarter, especially Slone, digging in and jamming their running game right down Wellston's throat to win the game.

3.) Too many missed tackles. Wellston had 2 TD's that should have been tackles for a loss. Stop grabbing and put your facemask into a kid and wrap up! Do they teach fundamental tacking anymore?

Overall the offense looks decent.....the passing game is pretty sorry but they are running the ball well and have 3 backs that can run through you or around you. But where are the screens and short 5 yard passes that they used last year, especially in the Burg game, that would turn into 10-20 yard gains? They have only thrown the ball on 3rd and long and everyone in the stadium knows its coming!

Defensively, I am clueless to what they are trying to do. They have some of their best athletes on the sidelines and meanwhile they cannot find anyone who can defend the pass.

We will see where this goes from here, but if things dont change and wake up calls made, I see them finishing no better than 7-3 or 6-4. Coal Grove, Burg, Waverly, West and Valley are going to be tough games.

It is very frustrating to see the same issues from the Portsmouth and East scrimmages till now and the coaches cant fix it! Its not rocket science and they have plenty of athletes to get to the playoffs again this year if they can tighten up and play good fundamental football.

OK I have said my peace and I will get off my soapbox now!

The coaches can lead a horse to water , but can't make it drink

5 is enough when you make poor choices.

I am not pointing out anything anyone else with football knowledge already can see. When you dont throw a pass until its 3rd and the Kwik Stop everyone in the stadium knows whats coming. Especially the opposing coaches.

This team has a ton of talent and CAN do great things this year IF they start playing like they are capable.

I appologize for my previous posts......if I offended anyone I am truly sorry.

As a Minford alum, I get a little too emotional being a huge fan of sports, especially during the football season. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Coach Daniels and crew and most people dont know how much time and effort they put in to a program but I certainly know that they put in as much as imaginable. They have done a trememdous job as I have always stated in my posts.

I know alot of the kids on the team and they have a boat load of talent and I am strongly pulling for them to get better every week and have a terrific season, and I am sure they will.

I am sure that Coach Daniels knows best and I am sure that he will get the most out this team and I again applogize if I have rubbed of my fellow Minford posters the wrong way. My previous post came across way too strong and I can tell you that my foot isnt tasting so good right now..........

I see where your frustrations come from bleeding red, this team has the talent to do good things this year but at times seems very uninspired. The team will have to decide what they want though, if the want to put in the extra effort it takes to be really good. Minford needs to stop being happy with competing, we competed for years, it is now time to win. Like someone said earlier I'm sure the coaches have addressed all the issues you metioned, but the players have to play the game not the coaches. This coaching staff is a very good one, quite possibly one of the best we've ever had at Minford and I know they do everything they can to put the kids in the right spots to win. It is a privelege to put on that Minford jersey and play on that field and it needs to be treated like one, when you step on that field you have an obligation to yourself, your family, your team, your school, and your community to play at your very best. The upperclassmen now have to take over and get this team rolling, it is their senior years, and they will have no one to blame but themselves if the season doesn't turn out how they want it to. After this week, the seniors season could be a 3rd over with already, there is no next week anymore if they want to take things and make them what they can be it has to start today. Go Big Red, everyone in Minford believes in you, play up to your potential and good things will happen this year.

Very well put. If I were only tactful enough to have said that to begin with.......

No doubt Daniels and his entire staff are the best coaches that we have been blessed with at Minford for as long as I can remember. Daniels actually started coaching when I was in high school, and was always one of my favorite coaches.

My senior year was a pitiful one. We had a horrible record and we had alot of kids that just really didnt care. It sucks to look back at it now and realize that many games lost in the last few minutes could have been wins if we had just taken care of business and the team had a little more heart and grit about it. We didnt have near that talent that this years team has, and we had far less coaching overall.

I hope that none of the coaches read the crap that people like me get mad about and blurt out on here, but if they do, I hope that they understand that it was pure frustration not at them, but seeing the kids that have worked so hard maybe underachieving a bit. Nothing but respect for the coaching staff, they do a great job.

Well Said. I also think the fans could make some more noise at crucial points of the game.

Atleast we have a coach who will try and throw it, a few years ago 3rd and Kwik stop would most certainly mean a FB Trap or Iso.. :122248 So glad those days are over
