this score could have been worse, they had one touchdown called back.....we couldnt tackle anyone.

I heard one of our players make a coment after the game, that these two backs was much much toughr to tacle then Pendlton last week...and thats saying something!

good luck to burg

Well golly ptown, maybe if you're guys were so upset they should've, oh I don't know, scored some points? Or not given up 68? Is portsmouth that bad or is burg that good? :122245

Burg only scored 20 points in second half to portsmouth 7
1st team scored first 7 then 14 by the jv team with one coming late in the fourth, no running up the score.

I believe it's our defenses job to stop them from scoring. I don't blame Burg for the running up the score. It's not fair to ask those second and third string kids to not try. Those 2nd and 3rd string kids practice every day also for Burg. Portsmouth needs to realize this is only one game and must regain their focus to start league play next week. Were 2-1 and in my opinion only need 6-7 wins with our schedule to make the playoffs. I thought Simpson played well for the Trojans. The kid catches everything that's thrown to him. My advice to the Trojans is forget about it and focus on Jackson. This score means nothing more than a loss. You don't get more or less computer points for how much you win or lose by. Jackson is big points for the playoff hunt.

Actually there were four Wheelersburg touchdowns in the second half. The first was with mostly starters. Portsmouth got the ball to start the second half and fumbled and the Pirates get the ball inside the 20. The mostly starters scored pretty quickly. Wheelersburg got the ball deep in their own territory on the next possession and had mostly starters in for part of the drive until the ball was in Portsmouth territory and then subbed. Drive stalled and Wheelersburg punted. Portsmouth scores on their next possession. On the ensuing kick off, Wheelersburg runs it back for a touchdown. After that, Wheelersburg plays their bench which scores on one longer drive and then with about five minutes to go, Portsmouth has a bad snap on a punt, a loss of 20 yards and Wheelersburg JV start their final drive inside the 20. They tried to use up the time as best they can but with less than 20 yards, they end up with a fourth and one on the four and needed a first down to run out the clock so they go for it and end up in the end zone. No try for the PAT.

Some second string play started with the opening KO of the second half. No starters were playing by the latter part of the third quarter. Only the kick off run back was scored by an offensive starter for those second half touchdowns. The first touchdown was by a defensive starter that occassionally play some running back. He was not carrying the ball. The ball was fumbled close to the goal line, rolled in and he recovered it. Sometimes the luck just is not with a team as there were 3 Portsmouth players closer when it hit the ground but they did not react as quickly.

Both teams have a lot of work to do before then, in all seriousness it sounds like burg took one on the chin from ironton and now has things squared away. The score of this game does suprise me though, I really thought portsmouth would be pretty decent this year.

lol...that WILL not happen on the court. i know its a rivalry, and some of your ex classmates have a bad taste in their mouths, but you got to learn to control your emotions. i kinda figured they would be out to get #1. And bye the way, i thought #22 really played a helluva game tonight. he ran very determined tonight and played awsome on defense

Bendolph is a none story in this game. He was absolutely not a factor at all. I wish the kid good things in the future. I know he was raised to act better than he did tonight.
