Chesapeake 39 Symmes Valley 33 3OT's
Re: Chesapeake 39 Symmes Valley 33 3OT's
There is no need to say what coach made Vikings football. Triplett, Conley and Webb were/are doing things that needed to be done to improve the program. Yes football after Triplett til Conley was not good.
If people remember what was there before Triplett and what was there when he left is hugh. The start of football teams before Junior High. This was a couple of years before Triplett became head coach.
Triplett helped with these building blocks of the program. Just a few not all he had done/helped with.
1. Getting weight program started.
2. Helping to build the concession stand and press box.
3. Helping to build the home locker room/weight room.
4. Going out and getting kids to come out for the team including giving rides to and from practice.
5. Getting better equipment/uniforms for players
6. Helping to get backing from the community to support football and the school. Never to forget the "Underground" in there help in building whatever needed.
7. Helping to get a winning attitude after years of winning.
8. Getting more out of the school board to back the program.
When Conley and Webb arrived football was down but they didn't have to build everything. They were able to help bring the winning back then add their own building blocks to the program. Each coach has learned from those before them and have to adapt to the change of players throughout the years.
To say who built the program that answer is Coach Triplett. Along with the help of many others who helped to add some of what was stated above. Coach Conley helped to add his personal touch and Coach Webb is adding to this. Hopefully the next coach will help to add to the success.

Play calling from this game was great. The coaches did not lose the game. It was the "curse"

I'm telling you, Symmes Valley is for real. They showed flashes of brilliance last year, now they're ready for a playoff trip.

I think it was that ice cream cake thing I ate during the 4th quarter that won it for Chesapeake. Man, that was good.

wow sounds like it would have been a great game to travel to and watch, much respect towards both teams and good luck in the future.
Re: Chesapeake 39 Symmes Valley 33 3OT's
sorry to make everyone mad. I do know what i am talking about, i played under conley and webb. Triplett built the program, conley turned the program around. I hope symmes valley goes far, my comment was based on the fact someone said to replace the Chesapeake game. Why replace it? its great for the community. I just feel that big games, we always come up short because of coaching decisions. it happened when i played there. I wish nothing best for the kids of SV, we have very good athletes. I would like to see a coach try and take us to the next level, have some kids go on to play college football somewhere. How many kids have played college ball under webbs tenture? I think its great he is the winningest coach in history, but what has he done for the kids who played for him? what has he done for SV? i cant recall one thing...lets think about those type of questions before calling the man a great coach. Ive never a coach more loved in the valley than Triplett. Ask any of his players, they still love the man. He has been gone for almost 20 yrs and he is an icon, i would say thats a great coach. he left his mark.

I think the problem of not winning against Chesapeake is that our first string players were worn out because they had not had to play a complete game at all this season until then. I think we need to schedule some tougher opponents in weeks 1 and 2.

Musigep07 sounds like maybe someone who spent a lot of pine time.
Re: Chesapeake 39 Symmes Valley 33 3OT's
haha..no pine time for me.. i actually played....and started at some key positions during my time....3 yrs of my 4 total yrs playing under conley and webb...but anyway, i wish the viking best of luck and look foward to seeing them in playoffs.

Many factors entered into this game. First, Peake is a better team than their first 2 games showed, against state-class teams, & they never quit Second, this was the first game in which the SV starters have had to play the whole game, against a better opponent than their first two, and Peake's slight speed advantage manifested itself . Third, Peake got a break with the SV fumble. Fourth, Pinson's INT of the SV pass in the 3rd OT was HUGE. Fifth, the "curse" hadta be in the bax of the SV players' minds, while the peake players did NOT wanna be remembered as the first Peake team to lose to SV since before any of them were born . My youngest son & some of his buddies from the '03-04 teams were there to remind the Peakers that their teams had been Viking-sinkers, Dragon-slayers, Hornet-swatters, etc. back in the day.
This was IN NO WAY any reflection of Coach Webb and his staff! I have many friends in the SV area who are virtually unanimous in their praise of him. You SV folx oughtta consider yourselves fortunate to have a coach like him. While SV has had a lack of exceptionally-talented players the last few years, they've had winning teams anyway. That should tell you something!
GO VIKES! Hopeta see ya in the playoffs!

I heard it was a great game. But, I have to say something about the conditioning speak on hear. Playing quarters do not get the kids in condition to play late in a game. Conditioning comes from the summer workouts and staying in condition comes with hard work during the week. Playing doesn't get you in condition as the ball is only in play about 4.5 minutes during a game. Yes there has been studies. I wish both the Peake and Vikings much success the rest of the year.
