Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Fuzz don't you know people get defensive when they don't have anything legit to comeback with.
Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Virtually the same Minford team was outgained by 70 yards last year and was saved from being down at least 7-3 at halftime because of a chin-strap violation.
As I said earlier, Minford is the favorite, but their fans have no right to get on here and act like CG fans have no right or reason to be confident. Both are fine teams. Both will likely be in the playoffs. This game will just more than likely determine who plays the 1st round at home and who plays on the road.

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
I agree . CG got the chinstrap violation and a few plays later the refs call a timeout to have minford fasten their chinstrap with no penalty. I was amazed at the double standard.
Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Shhhhhhhh. . . . if a Minford poster sees that, you'll get replies like, "We was so the better team!" or "Don't y'all be judgin' us! We was a good team - a darn good team!"

I think Coal Grove might pull off the upset at home. Minford has looked tough but CG has been very impressive so far.

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
this is the best team we have had for several yrs not saying were the best but this is the fastest and quickest team . probably not the most physical line we have had but they make up for it in speed. we have a chance to win the ovc and hopefully make the playoffs maybe undefeated reg season. dont know alot about minford but i think we will win. but minford really needs this win if the hope to make it to the playoffs. they will finish behind burg and probablywest in the soc maybe vally will give them a game.

Fuzz no whinning here just stating the facts and yes it has been said every year that the CG passing game is better every year and come game time you see about 2 throws zero completions from them. Now im not going to go back and look at every single post on the two websites but im sure there is at least one CG fan who says "CG to physical" you guys seem to talk alot of **** every year till after the game. Also why do CG fans feel they can comment on minford being untested and act like CG has played anyone?
Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Biggest test so far for Minford this week. Should get a good feel for how good this Minford team is. A Minford win will catapult them up in the rankings and put them in a good position for a playoff berth. A loss will put the pressure on them to finish strong with no slip ups heading into conference play.
Good luck to the Falcons and Mr. Oesch from your POST 23 friends.

Make no mistake about it.....it wasnt the infamous "Chin strap violation" that you are refering to, which I am not saying didnt happen, I just dont remember it....and there is a difference if equipment is broke, or just not worn......
It was the dropped passes, 15 yard personal fouls and other penalties that took Coal Grove out of the game last year. Discipline is what stalled their drives.
I see this as 2 very evenly matched teams. I think that Minford has a quicker team and better lines on both sides of the ball.
Coal Grove has probably one of the best backs in Delawder, though Slone from Minford is no easy task to bring down.
Valley was a big win for Coal Grove, and I would have Valley in the top 3 this year in the SOC II regardless of what the other SOC II posters say.
To say this is the best game in SE Ohio tomorrow night would be a great understatement.
Still looking for Minford to win by 10-14. I think you are going to see Minford hitting on all cylinders and praying for Coal Grove to try their passing game out....

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
This will be the biggest test of the season for Minford. Playing away, CG is ranked #9 in the state even though this is not the computer rankings. CG reminds me of Wisconsin, big and physical players that take it up the middle. Valley passed the ball on them pretty well. I think Minford will need a balanced attack and will win this game if they do. Minford also needs to play great defense.

I believe I saw on another site where Minford should look at the fact we have them scheduled for homecoming as some sort of slap in the face to them, trust me, I believe I am in a long line of Grove fans that are scratching are heads on why this game is homecoming.

Well they must not teach English in Coal Grove. I think they'd say," We were a better team because we didn't drop two wide open TD passes in the endzone."
Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Before I start responding, let me just say that THIS is what a CG/Minford thread should look like! I love the excitement! You can already feel the electric atmosphere building up!
No. . . CG fans (at least the sane ones) haven't expected a CG team to pass a lot in seasons past, period.
But now that you've made the "2 throws zero completions" statement, I'll have to once again use the facts against you. If you'll remember, last year Coal Grove came out throwing on their first possession. They ended up completing 5 passes for 74 yards.
Compared to Minford's schedule, CG's in VERY tough. Meigs was a playoff team last year and has pretty much that whole team back. Last year, CG put up a TD against them. This year, the Hornets put up 44 points on them.
Valley has most of their starters back from last year's team, and as your fellow Minford fan Bleeding Red has already said, they're probably a top-3 SOCII team. CG beat them, too. It's not the records of Minford's opponents I'm looking at, it's what these teams usually do. River Valley and Huntington-Ross are very bad every year. Wellston is a decent team, but they didn't have their starting RB plus they were one the road.
Bleeding Red, excellent post. You know you're my favorite Minford poster.
You and me both, brother.

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
I know that I am your favorite Minford fan Fuzz!
To be honest, I think maybe Minford overlooked a decent Wellston team after whipping River Valley. I think they did alot of things to "sharpen" things up a bit against Huntington Ross.
But make no mistake, the Coal Grove game has been the first big date circled on the calender for the football program for the past 10 months or so. I am sure the Minford coaches know that Coal Grove has a very tough squad this year, and they will come out playing hard.
As for some of the posters that say the SOC II is Wheelersburg and everyone else in the rear view mirror, I would agree that Burg has a slight edge as of right now, but I watched them play Ironton and they were really sloppy. I wouldnt put Minford in Burg's rear view mirror, I would put them in the blind spot
I also think that Coal Grove has the much tougher non conference schedule of the 2 teams, but Minford has by far the more difficult conference schedule when they start running the gauntlet through SOC II play.
I think that it will help Coal Grove that they have been in 2 dogfights already this year, but it will also help Minford not to be banged up or a little bruised, and fresh, after a couple blowouts.

Coach Daniels should have his boys ready for this week. Look for some new wrinkles in the offense this week. Should see a good bit more out of Oesch's arm.

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
If Minford can complete some passes early, it will open their running game up. And then you will see how fast they really are. But they have got to keep CG guessing. If CG gets worried about the pass, then the middle will open up for Slone. And the sweeps will be harder to stop. Minford's linebackers have really got to step it up this week, they have got to hit CG's backs at the line of scrimage, if they are going to stop them. If CG's backs get into the secondary they are going to be hard on the scoreboard.

True that.
The biggest test of Minford's D is the linebacking corp.
Our D line has been very solid, the linebackers have to make plays near the line of scrimmage just like you mentioned.

me being a sider fan hopes minford wins by 50 so maybe fuzznuts i mean fuzzhead will shut up
