Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
I would like to see Minford use the blitz to help slow up CG's running backs. It will also slow down their QB. Minford really needs to keep CG's offense guessing, maybe change some formations or something, to keep them off balance. I know Minford don't want to show everthing, until league play, but this game might be as important as any this season. The league games will mean that much more, if we win this one.

Way to stay on topic. Nothing like a personal vandetta.
BTB and BR, good posts - some actual substance.
I'm personally expecting a few running plays (counters, sweeps, draws, and maybe an option or two) out of shotgun from the Grove.

I know Minford DOESN'T want to show everything......
Now that both teams have fans that have shown a propensity for spelling and grammatical errors, let's talk FOOTBALL.
This is a HUGE points game for both teams, I doubt either will hold anything back. The Grove may be the best team, aside from the Burg, Minford sees in the regular season. I think both teams will make the playoffs with a post-season rematch a very real possibility.

Good luck Falcons from the Playmaker.........win for yourselves and Scioto County.
Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
I'd love to see Coal Grove surprise everyone and come out in a 2-RB 3-wide formation like Ashland runs, with a thunder back like Delawder or Wood on one side of Ferguson and Haynes or Woods on the other side and maybe run some belly-like stuff from that formation.

I knew this thread couldn't stay so civil all week. Minford comes to the grove yard and takes care of business this week. Schedule only gets harder from this week on for the Falcons. Both teams have major bragging rights on the line here.

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Well it is game day finally. I look for Coal Grove to try something different just like they did last year when they opened up with a pass. I think once the game goes on both teams will go to what they are the most comfortable and successful with. I know Minford is ready and say what you want about their schedule, but it was and is out of the control of the players and coaches. All they can do is prepare each week and that is exactly what they have done is prepare week by week for each game. What hurt them against Wellston is the fact the first string played less than 1 1/2 quarters against River Valley and maybe ran 10-12 plays before the score was already 35-0. It is now week 4 and the pre-season rust is off and they will be ready to play.
One thing I will say is it is time for the Minford seniors to step up and make a statement. Leadership is not yelling in a huddle and jumping up and down, it is doing your job, positively mentoring your teammates (even the freshmen), being calm and focused in a high intensity game, and leading by example. Block until the whistle blows, run your routes hard regardless of whether you are the primary receiver or are needed for a downfield block, hit the holes hard whether you are blocking or carrying the ball and tackle/wrap on defense. In other words, play fundamental football like you have been coached to play since pee wee. Good luck to the Falcons. Play like you can play and have been coached to play and you will be successful tonight and go to 4-0. Go Minford!
Oh, one last thing......Minford needs to pack the stands and support the team. Fan support has been fantastic so far and needs to continue. Coal Grove will have their fans out in force and Minford needs to do the same thing. Come out and support your Falcons. The last person out of Minford needs to turn out the lights.

Don't worry fuzz, I have had this feeling all week that we are going to see some stuff tonight that we haven't seen all year, the coaching staff has really opened the playbook this year and I still think they haven't shown everything yet, I only said this because from what I heard from people during the preseason was with Evan and Wayne we may see some kind of wildcat formation.
Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
sparks is no longer with the team. but goodwin is back. Fuzz, I thought I seen them running the triple option out of the gun with option to pass in practice this week, but then again maybe not, I get confused sometimes.

Thats sad to hear, I know he wasn't used as much as a lot of people would have liked for him to be used.

Good post, RW65. Remember, Grovers, Minford played the same three teams last year to start off the season and they still beat CG, even though CG played the tougher opponents the first three games.
Once again, 2trap, I agree with you 100%. I can't tell you how impressed I am with the bold changes made by the coaching staff.

It is a shame that Sparks quit, but I can see Murphy or someone like that throwing an option pass just fine. Jake had a pretty good QB for an older brother so maybe he taught him a trick or two.
To all the kids from CG: have a great homecoming night and be safe!
GO BIG GROVE!

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
Mark my words on this one, the key players for the Grove tonight will be Boo and Dion. The past few weeks defenses looked to relax a little when they see Boo come in thinking that the speed is off the field when Oakie is on the sidelines, as for Dion, he has had a lot of open looks in his passing routes that Evan has to hit, we don't need the homerun ball on every pass tonight, we just need to move the ball.

Re: WK4 Minford @ Coal Grove
And I also believe we will win this game with our return game, Dion has ran one back, Boo has ran one back, Oakie has come close, same as Jake. I have never seen our kick return game have that many weapons.
