It's my opinion South will be very competitive with PHS. I forgot Marietta got steamrolled by PHS so that makes PHS the best team in the matchup by far. Sorry it takes A LOT more reasoning than that. South has no problem moving the ball either and espcially on a struggling defense. That will be settled at a later date so who cares. BigCat is already setting the foundation for excuses they have starters out such CRAP, and if Warren can't win with those starters out they are in big trouble. Marietta puts their best team on the field just like Warren every week, minus injuries deal with in BigCat. IT IS part of the game, and every team deals with it including Warren. Don't downplay the success of your team based on injuries, that was such a ridiculous statement.

BigCat it isn't our fault who is on your schedule. Marietta over schedules every year because they think they can compete. New year same result. You aren't in the same league as New Philly or even PHS. You may think those games benefitted Marietta in the long run. Losing by 30 and 50 respectively is discouraging under any circumstance and willn't benefit Marietta. I hardly think that Warren will be using Marietta as a measuring stick, maybe an Ironton or a Logan, definately not a fellow cellar dweller in Marietta. This is simply another rivarly game that Warren will win.

Now breaking the game down. It seems very obvious that Marietta's weak point lies in their defense. Giving up roughly 35 points a game. Even 3 scores to a very weak Morgan team. Warren will be able to establish a consistent running game through Wolfe, Pritt and Warren's massive offensive line. Last week Warren proved they can ALSO throw the ball. Ellenwood made several clutch passes down the stretch that proves he can handle the pressure of a tight ball game, including a 40 yard strike to Venham putting Warren ahead for good. Ellenwood's running capabilty is something that impressed last week, like to see him use that more. Marietta's running back in Wheeler will undoubtly gain some good yardage, he is a solid running back. What will hurt Marietta is they haven't proved a consistent passing game. Warren's secondary is impressive and has 8 interceptions in this young season. This talented secondary will punish an average at best passing game of Marietta.

Very intriguing match-up.

In my mind it comes down to a couple of key points.

1) - How will Warren handle success? Just like teams learn to lose, they also have to learn to win. Can Warren keep preparing and playing at a high level week after week?

2) - Marietta is a desperate team at this point. Warren is a game that could make or break their season. That makes them dangerous. They will play like a cat backed into a corner (pun intended) -

I think the combination of above will make this game great. Good Luck to both teams.

sawmiesez is correct the schedules are made years in advance. This years Tigers and Warriors are playing a schedule that was contracted very possibly four years or more back. Warren did win several years in a row and it was more like 9 or 10 years in a row, but the Tigers won several years in a row before that. So the simple thing to do is wait until about 10:30 friday evening and all will be settled for this year anyway. I know Coach Schob and several of his assistants. The Tigers will be prepared to the best of their ability as will the Warriors. If Warren wins the game their next opponent is Point, then Meigs and Portsmouth three very winnable games that would make them 7 wins on the year, the last winning season 6-4 in 1999 did Warren or Marietta win that year ( I'm sure Schenk11 will know), so is an eighth win in the cards? Warren ends the season with Logan, Chilli and Ironton three very tall orders, so win eight would have to come from there, the up side is they are all at home. So no long trips like last season to finish the 2 to 3 hours trips are Chilli and Ironton to take these bus rides. So has some of the Warren faithful played the excuse card? The answer is yes, so it is only fair that the Tiger faithful do the same. Turn-about is fair play. Lets agree to disagree and focus on the game at hand. Only the players from both schools can put on the pads and play the game and they can only suit up those available. I am sure they will do their very best and hope they leave nothing on the field. In the past both teams have played short handed, hurt, whatever. Warren has played when Marietta had just more numbers and kept fresh legs in the game, as has Marietta been in the same boat when Warren wore them out. So Patato, Patato. Lets just play and wish both teams put their best game on the field for this years edition of Warren vs Marietta. We are both in DII this year so Good Luck to both. Wasn't Warren 2-1 and Marietta 1-2 going into the game last year? And Marietta came out on top. Play well, play fair & play safe...

Warren will definitly have to a better job of tacking wheeler than they did ferguson or he might possibly have another career night...the warriors passing game did improve this past week and i think they might have added another dimension with ellenwood being able to scramble for good yardage...still haven't heard any truth to Hess' injury so if anyone knows i would like to know...i was really impressed with the warriors heart against south...after venham scored his go ahead td he doubled over on the sidelines and lost his lunch about 6 or 7 times, wiped off his mouth, put on his helmet and went right back in the game...to me thats a sign of a true warrior, or it could be that he knows he has two older brothers that will kick his butt if he didn't get back in the game...this game is going to be a true test for both teams...for the warriors it will be a test to see if they got what it takes to win week in and week out...for the tigers it will be a test to see if they can overcome a rough start and be able to come back and beat a quality team...good luck to both teams and i hope mairetta gets all their starters back because i don't want there to be any excuses for a loss...
...go one...

As stated Warren by Locos Warren is in the unfamiliar position of being expected to win and might actually be a heavy favorite. The question is how will Warren respond to those expectations.

If the Warriors win do not sell yourself short and have low expectations for the Chilly game. Chilly is very beatable this year. As for Logan and ironton. I will put it this way. 8-2 is the best Warren can hope for.

Wow, hey jump in bro. One side of your story is how great warren is the next you are a fellow “basement dweller”. which is it? Are your warriors in or out. What “league” are you in? Belpre, Fort Fry? Warren’s A.D would never have the stones to put New Philly, or Darby on the schedule even if they thought they could win. You know nothing about football if you think South will beat Parkersburg this year. I have a lot of respect for South and was a every 7 on 7 game in Marietta summer and South looked very good Warren did not. Now that real games have been played South is trying to find there footing and Warren is looking very good. There are many issues going on in South land people may or may not know about. They have a lot of good talent over there and I cant understand why they cant get it together. They need to get past all the off field issues and play all out football. This is the reason they will not beat Parkersburg. I will not slam Coaches or say there players are not good. Parkersburg has a running back that can and does carry the offence. So if your thoughts of South are true and they are great and Parkersburg hangs 35 points on them and 300 yds rushing your thoughts will change, they will have too.

The injury issues on Marietta team is not an excuse it is a fact. I did not say in any post Marietta would not win. I said we will, and all the pressure is on warren. I have said all along Warren is improved and are riding high. They are confident and dangerous. I am flattered that you guys think I have put all these subliminal messages in my posts. I am an old football guy, line up and hit. I have done all this genius mind work and all I meant to do was say that the Tigers have there work cut out for them this week. Nothing changes for them. Week in and week out tuff games and uphill battles. My question was not directed at you and your words are rude and you are disrespectful. Marietta is in anyone’s league they step on the field with. It took a good Parkersburg team 3 big plays to pull away. Also it took New Philly getting punched in the Mouth down by 7 to get rolling. When the Tigers put a 4 quarter Football game together we will be hard for anyone to handle injuries or not. I do not want Warren to win but I will not, nor have I said anything in distaste about there players or Coaches. There program is going in a good direction and for the last time I hope they win every game they play. I only want them to slip one up one time. I have never been in an on line argument with anyone and I hate it.

Swamisez, has argued valid points, other than only 1 player was out due to suspension last year, he has been informative and not critical of the players. This game is hard on these young men, my opinion is, and I am entitled to it is, that Warren will feel like they have a lot of pressure to win this game. If I am wrong, I am sorry. Warren is riding high and having a great season. So far I think they are ware a lot of people thought they would be. But if hardrock21 thinks this game will not be a measuring stick for warren he is wrong. Warren has not beat Marietta in a few years, this game is a huge step to say hey here we are, Beating a rival is major, even if its Army vs Navy. Not a BCS deciding game but very “measurable” for both teams. Every poster on here that puts an opinion about it says that if warren wins, “IF”, they will go on to no less that a 6 win season. Some even say 8-2. Ill tell you this you get by us Friday, I hope you guys go 10-0. There is no reason you cant beat Logan or Ironton, the Tigers can as well. You play them hard and who knows. Both schools are great at what they do and P.A. at Logan is another real deal player, but every team can be beat watch College football sometime.

All of you out there can take your shots at me. I don’t care I will not post another word on this topic. Anything you folks want to say about me after this heck you are all correct about it all and can say what you want.. Win lose or draw, I wish warren all the best the rest of the season. I just wish the Tigers more luck. I have all the respect in the world for Warren and the team. Dang it I almost for got Marietta has not lost by 30 and 50 it was 21 and 51. If slamming young hard working football players there team and there Coaching staff, the least you can do would be to make sure your math is correct. Thanks and have a great day hardrock21.

Put the beer down, and back away from the keyboard.

I also think that South will beat PHS. South has beaten PHS before will a lot less talent, while PHS was a lot better than they are presently.

Coached against PHS and have seen South on film vs Warren. South will have a hard time containing Wasonga and therefore will struggle to beat the Big Reds.

BUT that really has bearing on the Warren/Marietta game, so we might as well leave that debate up for the week they play and keep the discussion on the topic.

The injury situation does not look good for Marietta this week. Possibly four starting offensive lineman out for the game and the fullback.

Bigcatmarietta I understand your support for your Tigers, the Warren fans show the same support for our Warriors, as you should. And thank you for hoping we win the rest of our games after Marietta. I agree with the fact that these young men are out there giving it there all week end and week out and they DESERVE our support and respect.

Also I feel it’s useless to argue who will win the South vs PHS game at this point. We will all find in a matter of weeks when they play. It has no bearing on how the Warren vs Marietta game will play out. This is a huge rival game for both teams, and will be a hard hitting, tough game. There is nothing that each team wants more then to beat the other. Warren wants to win because we haven’t beat Marietta in years. Marietta wants the win to turn their season around and both want the conference win. Most of all they want to win because it’s WARREN vs MARIETTA and they want the bragging rights that go along with the win. This game is going to be huge for both teams, they both have injuries and are hurting. But both teams will bring their A game and I look for it to be a close Exciting game. I hope there’s a huge turnout for both teams because I believe you will see one of the best game of the year for both teams.

Go Warriors!

All the talk about who is better, PHS or South, this is crazy, who really cares, it is just not relevant...kind of like fretting over who will win Michigan or Notre Dame, don't care cause I don't like either one....regarding the PRESSURE point, you better believe both teams feel tremendous pressure to win this game, because it's kids and that both know this is their rival game! I know Warren has had this one circled since fall camp, but they do every year....the importance just went up a bunch of notches because of the 3-0 record and the hope for redemption because the seniors haven't beaten Marietta....But to say the Warren kids feel more pressure than the Marietta kids, that is just not so....I hope for a great game and it may come down to who has to ball last...we saw what the Warriors can do in that situation....GO BIG BLUE!!

Sorry to interrupt, but folks need to know that the Warren vs. Parkersburg South JV game for today is canceled. South backed out.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming . . .
