Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
On a more upbeat note the Bulldogs played a pretty good football game tonight and further proved they are legit this year. The officiating in this game left a little to be desired, I believe it was called down the middle but come on guys gotta let em play a little at this level. Flags were flying left and right with more pass interference calls both ways than I have seen in a long while. Meigs is a solid squad and in my opinion will win the majority of the games left on their scheduel. Good luck to both teams the rest of the way.

Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
Fasteach / BlizzardMan / Frozen Rope etc. (I predicted 6-4 a few weeks ago but with NO defense I'll now have to change my prediction to 4-6)..... and by the way, Fairland was down by 27 at the half tonight against Sheldon-Clark from Kentucky and Coal Grove was beaten by Minford so you guys figure it out.
Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
Major beatdown in The Plains tonight at Rutter Field. Not even close. Marauder defense very pourous. Run defense was pretty good, lots of big strong guys up front, but the Bulldogs passing game led by Trey Harris was stellar. And the yards after catch and playmaking was fun to watch.
JV's played played all of 4th quarter. The jv kids were saying that the Meigs Varsity lineman were laughing at them when they came into the game only to have the jv squad march down the field and punch one in on them.
Stay focused and keep working hard. A trip to McArthur next week. Marauders look to bounce back against a hot Nelsonville York team.
I hope Bolin is ok.

As of now, it's looking like Meigs will be flat-out finishing with 4 wins this year.

Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
AWESOME WIN ATHENS!!!
I HAD TO STAY TUNED WHILE IN GLOUSTER WATCHING A ANOTHER COUNTY TEAM GET CLOBBERS; BUT ONCE I HEARD THE SCORE AROUND THE 3RD QUARTER - I JUMPED JP AND YELLED ... LOL ... THAT ONE TINY MILLI-SECOND WHEN HE BARKED OUT THE SCORE WAS THE BEST PART ABOUT MY NIGHT.
I can't wait to complete the TVC-Leaderboard, a lot of great players tonight slipped a little bit ... Dyla, Arnold, Smith, Well, Kish .. a lot of kids just faced tough defenses, which should allow some of the middle tier performers to catch back up, and make it a tight race all the way till the end.
I was definitly pleased to hear SHAD MCCOLLUM finally got some opprtunities tonight; he's had some bad luck with penalties (TD runs called back) and some other stuff ... but people forget he was the only ALL-LEAGUE player for AHS last season ... If he can come back into the spotlight - Athens will be so much more dangerous ...
I had them contending for a league title prior to week 1 - but I hadn't even included WEAVER, DIXON, SHARP, TOPE AND CONWAY or TREVOR SORRELL ... I had no idea they could even play, but they have really put Athens over the top IMO (thus far) ... I knew the usual suspects (Valentour, McCollum, Harris, ETC..ETC...) could be good enough to get some wins, but with WEAVER/SHARP in the backfield and DIXON added to the mix; its just a totally different team that what I had anticipated ... The depth Ryan Adams has accumulated with this Athens team is unpresidented, I can't even dream or think of a Bulldogs team that had this many athletes and football players ... and I came through when the 'Dogs were good in 1989 and 1990; but not even then did they have this many guys that could play.
(OH OF COURSE, ONE MORE THOUGHT - I HAD ABSOLUTLY NO PERCONCIEVED NOTIONS THAT THE DEFENSE WOULD BE DOING WHAT THEIR DOING ... IT COMPLETELY CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD, AND IM REALLY AMAZED AT THE JOB THE DEFENSIVE COACHING STAFF IS DOING, ALONG WITH THE PLAYERS who are EXECUTING ON THE FIELD
... Brilliant job A-town ... From the line - to the backs - to the recievers -to the defense - and to the special teams ... (Just don't let all the pats on the back make you soft!!!)(4 weeks does not make a season, actually your not even half way there, so buckle down and GET-R-DONE!

Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
First off congrats on a excellent win v/s a formidable Meigs team. I agree with 93 that this Bulldog team is a deep one for sure however, they a far from perfect. We have been down a TD in less than 1:30 into the game in each of the last two games, also expect to see teams keep testing us deep on the outside due to the fact both BC and Meigs had multiple opertunities for big plays that were just slightly overthrown. Keep digging Dogs you are doing great but improvement from week to week is important to a successful season. Get focused for Vinton Co. or they can get you like Ashland got Ironton. On a side note I spoke with Trevor Sorrell's dad last night and he told me the Dr. said he should be ready for competition by the VC game. And again I would like to wish Bolin #7 from Meigs a speedy recovery from an unfortunate injury and all the best in the future.
Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
A few offensive numbers for last night:
Rushing: Athens 176, Meigs 242
Passing: Athens 321, Meigs 169
Trey Harris was 15 for 23 for 321 yards (65%).

Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
dog the refs where terrible but at the same time did NOT favor either side. did we have a 25 second or 10 sec clock? cameron broke his leg so he is gone for the season. coach will have to find someone to step in and help jeremy. cam was averaging 4 catches for almost 80 yards per game. not whining but him being there and this is a whole another game.jacob will have to find another target those are some big shoes to fill.
now to athens; nice game you deserved to win. much better than last year but golly what do you have to do to sell out? the crowd was great. when 1 of our guys was hurt against fairland the stands was chanting " get him off the field"! good luck the rest of the way.

I certainly hope the young man gets well soon. It is a shame. With that said, however, I knew we could count Fasteach to make excuses. Any game could be a whole other game if so and so were there or so and so played or if that call wasn't made, yada, yada, yada.
BTW, read the messenger this morning, Coach Chancey had no comment?! He couldn't even give Athens any credit? Everyone wants Athens to be the bigger people, show class, be respectful. Fasteach even said earlier how classless Athens is. Thought that was a disrespectful move on Meigs coach's part. IMO
Bulldogs, Keep going, it is only 4 got 6 more. This bulldog fan is behind you all the way.

fasteach wrote:dude i was there and i can read a program. not only that but people from athens high school confirmed it. unless there was only 10 varsity players then they where there. now call me stupid but athens had more than 10 playing friday. the fact was that the fresmen did not play in the jv game. i was told they where a whole other team. now you can get on here and say it ain't true and keep this going or you can drop it because it only makes athens look bad. it's up to you.
it makes me look bad? im telling the truth i think i would know better than you like i said the freshmen played in the meigs JV game, the fact that we had to recycle some of the varsity players numbers does not mean that the actual varsity players were playing... ON NO WAIT I FORGOT IM AN IDIOT one person who played friday also played in that JV game, Josh Bowles played 2 snaps because of an equipment problem with the starter. im sorry i guess that makes me completely wrong. idiot.

congratulations dogs nice win, but don't lose focus... i wish the best of luck to bollin on a speedy recovery and good luck to meigs the rest of the season
Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
Our prayers go out to Cameron Bolin. The Bolins are a great family. Hate to see his season shortened like that. I am certain that he is as good as mentioned, but I don't think Meigs will have to look very far to find another target for Well. Caleb Davis was outstanding, making some catches that you rarely see high school players make.
We noticed the same thing about the play clock. It was obviously a 25 second clock because there are play clocks in both end zones. So offenses have no excuse for letting it run out because it is right in front of the QBs eyes. It was not all the QBs fault, however, as the play often did not make it from the Meigs sideline quickly enough. That being said, several of us were commenting on how quickly the referee was spotting the ball. That is why it seemed that the play clock was so short.
The halftime score may have been 28-6, but it was the hardest fought 28 points Athens has had to work for this year. Meigs D-Line did a good job of stopping the run. It appeared everyone was just gassed by the middle of the 3rd quarter, as Athens 2nd TD drive of the 3rd quarter covered 71 yards without a pass being thrown.
Had a great time after the game with several Meigs friends and Athens friends (and some Alexander friends as well).

Trey Harris was 15 for 23 for 321 yards (65%).
I should have included in this post, "...Harris and the entire offense threw for 321 yards..." as the O-Line was great and the receivers were outstanding and well deserving of credit. Yards after the catch were a lot of fun to watch.
Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
i am not making excuses or dissing caleb. what i meant is with cam AND caleb meigs would have done better. athens team still won it was not given away by meigs. don't know who the win would gone to but it would have been different. hey injuries happen. if it had been athens wide out how many td throws wouldn't been made? the time clock ran the way it did for both teams. they ( the refs) where spotting the ball before the chains where even set. there was a few times they called a delay of game and the chains never got set. they also called illegal sub because of this.but for both teams.i thought i made that clear.
btw coach chancey is 1st class. the guy is 100% sportsman

Whatever Fasteach. Can't wait to see your posts for the upcoming week. Get ready buckeyes, this guy has all the answers and excuses.
Re: WK4 Meigs @ Athens TVC-Ohio Game
Fastteach, quit whinning, Meigs got their butt kicked. FYI, the chains do not have to be set to declare the ball ready for play, only the box needs to be in place. Sounds like Athens had a pretty good crew of officials. If all you can take away from a butt whipping like that, is that the refs may have missed a few calls and declared the ball ready for play too quick; then you need to quit watching the game. Did it occur to you that the officials also declared the ball ready for play just as quick for Athens yet they had no problem getting plays off. Meigs lost by 40 pts. (whatever the score was) don't blame the officials or anyone else. Meigs has had problems getting plays off all year.
As I have said before when I was at Fairland I didn't witness anything that I would consider unsportsmanlike.
You could count on one hand the number of wins Meigs has had over teams that have an above .500 record (even counting last year's playoff run) in the last nine years. To continually make excuses and blame others will only promote more mediocrity.
My posts are not the best and I am not going to proof this before I post it, but quit using where (where you mean to say were). With your use of the written language I find it hard to believe you are a teacher. If you are you are no doubt doing your students a disservice with your stellar command of the written language. I hope you make up for it in other areas and you probably do.
With all of that being said please quit making excuses for mediocre performance. If you are going to continue, do us all a favor and get yourself a $1.98, go down to the drug store and buy yourself a razor blade, and slit your f@#$ing wrists.
Just kidding about that part but clean your posts up a little bit and quit making excuses.
Rainman is in the HOUSE.

Which wideout? Ian Dixon, Shad McCollum, Frank Valentour, Conner Tope? It gets spread around pretty evenly among those guys. On Friday Shad had 2 and Ian had 2. Frank and Conner have been known to catch TD passes as well.
