Coach Dean has been toying with people in weeks 1-3. He is unleashing it as we speak. No one has a clue where the ball is going, or if it will be on the ground or in the air.

All I have to say is.......FINALLY!!!! As much as I LOVE smash mouth football, NY plays have become very predictable over the years. The Buckeyes really need this mix of styles to take it to the next level. I'm glad to see the Buckeyes take it to the air more frequently!!!! GO BUCKS!!!!

And just think........the Buckeyes are mostly a sophomore class team. This class is showing us great things in 2009. Just imagine what they will do in 2010 and 2011!
NY doesn't rebuild, NY just reloads!

I will start off by saying congrats Buckeyes. You guys played a great game . I also enjoyed talking with my buddy Bishstakes good to see him in good health. As for my Rockets if they give that kinde of effort they will be lucky to win a game. They started off great played 2 quarters (AGAIN) then just quit. I just hope they get it together because they are way better than they showed last night .

Well, I'm not sure about Wellston, but NY has had a lot of continuity in its coaching staff. Not just with the high school team, but in the lower ranks as well. It has been an organized machine. To have continuity, you need success and patience when the ideal success doesn't come.
Also, don't forget the injuries that Wellston has gone through this season. That combined with a tough schedule can be demoralizing. It's very easy to get behind and think "Here we go again." Wellston's coach would have to be an excellent psychologist to keep this train on track. If Wellston can manage to pull out a tough win or two, plus get Prater back, they will be a tough out in the TVC.
Above I bragged up Coach Dean. I reread it and wanted to clarify things a bit. The way I understand it, Coach Dean calls most of the plays, but from time to time, Coach Boston overrides the call. I believe they also work in concert on the occasion. Though, even if Dean did call every single play of every game, it says a lot about Coach Boston to have the ability to self-evaluate and see where the team can improve. Obviously, he felt Coach Dean could improve the football team, and despite their philosophies being slightly different, he was willing to give over some control in order to improve. That's the mark of a great head coach.
Finally, how about the defensive coaches? When I heard the first drive of the game, I thought NY would never get a stop. Clearly, adjustments were made from the box, and the D played a great game the rest of the night. People love to moan and complain after a loss, but the coaching staff deserves praise. They sometimes have five or six sophomores on the field at once, and they find ways to win.

I stayed up and watched the replay of the game last night. Wellston looked flat and at times they didn't look like they wanted to be there. They played a really good first half and then the wheels came off! I hope they can rebound and finish the season strong!
Great job NY! Great job coaches!
