Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
I'm taking Logan by at least two TDs.
I think Ironton is physical enough up front to cause some problems for the Chiefs, but I'm fairly certain that they aren't as physical as Pickerington North. The big advantage that Logan will have is their passing attack. I don't think Ironton's DBs can match up with the Logan receiving corps at all. If Angle has time to throw, which I think he will, the Logan offense will make some big plays through the air.
Now if weather plays a factor, things could tighten up a little. But Angle doesn't seem to have much trouble throwing the ball in the rain, at least not that I've noticed. In the end, the Chiefs win again and keep rolling toward another SEOAL title, in my opinion.

Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
(forgetting about the "Envy" in this game), i'll predict Logan handles most of 1st half:
1st Half Prediction:
Logan: 24
Ironton: 14
Second half Ironton forces a couple turnovers to pull it off in the last minutes:
Final Score:
Logan: 31
Ironton: 35
1st Half Prediction:
Logan: 24
Ironton: 14
Second half Ironton forces a couple turnovers to pull it off in the last minutes:
Final Score:
Logan: 31
Ironton: 35
Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
Itown,
That is not realistic. There is NO WAY Irtonton can put up 35 points. So your prediction is so far off base. honestly Ironton will not win the game. Also Lutz can not out coach Amyx. This has been established the last tw years. i must admit the ironton faithful has been a bit slow to catch on.

Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
i agree with tigercannon, if Ironton plays like they did against Ashland then it will be a long night. if they play like they did against Burg and Russell then look out.
i still don't expect a Fighting Tiger win but it has potential to be a good one

Logan will be at point from the beginning.
this same argument has been going on for 4 years. Your past, and our recent success doesn't determine the outcome of this game.

The thing is..........Ironton wont play the way they did against Russell becuase Logan is an oustanding team. Logans going to absolutly dominate this game. In the end there will be no question which team is better.
Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
Ironton better get away from the bend but don't break soft defense. We need to be aggressive and attack. We will have success running the ball but its hard to wear a team out that is as deep as Logan. Good Luck Tigers

I'll take going to the State Championship game and losing once over a league title..ONCE for the experience...BUT..after the first experience...If your going to go to the State Championship game and lose..then hell yes..I'll take the league title..that way there's at least ONE trophy in the case from a great season!
Thank you for summing up the philosophy of Logan football.

......which is why Ironton is leaving this league-because it is easier for them to win a state title in D-IV than it is to win the SEOAL. Is that what you are saying?
Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
The point is 45 in this century The Tigers have done neither. So are all those kids running, sweating, and trying hard just losers in your eyes??
No one but Logan has won the SEOAL since the players playing this year have been in high
school. No one in the SEOAL has been champion of any type in football but the Logan kids. That state stuff is last century for the Tigers. Today's Tigers know NOTHING but reading tired old banners that get older every season. Some day you can buy those at a yard sale in Ironton.

As I said yesterday, this is an illogical statement.
League Championship and State Championship are not an either/or situation.
If you're competing for state championships you're going to win this league, period.
It's better to win the league and go to the playoffs than to just go to the playoffs and lose in the 1st or 2nd round. That's what Ironton's done pretty much every year the last 10 years. I'd rather lose in the 1st or 2nd round AND win the league.

Re: Week 5 Logan @ Ironton
I wasnt talking Ironton in general, but since you guys are, in my opinion it is possible for Ironton to not win the league and then proceed to make a run at a State Championship...Why? Size. Logan could go undefeated in the league with a 3 point win over Ironton. Would that mean Ironton isnt a worthy D4 team? I say no. Im NOT saying Ironton WILL make a run because it is only Week 5 and a lot of things can happen, but Im NOT saying they WONT either.
I fully agree with that statement. I didnt say I didnt want to win the league but if you give me a choice between a State Championship game or a league title...Ill take the state game every single time and not even think about it.
No. That is not what I am saying. Some of the Logan posters LOVE to put words in peoples mouths. In my opinion, Ironton is leaving the league because they cannot afford to be in the league financially.

It is not my intention to put words in your mouth. Heck, I'm getting caught up in all this furry and I REALLY don't have anything against Ironton. But when Logan fans post about how proud we are to win league championships, it is demeaned by most Ironton posters. So let me ask this....does Ironton disregard all the SEOAL championships they won years ago? Should they be ashamed of compiling fantastic league records? So why should Logan not now be proud of what they are accomplishing. OK, I'm going to give a little lesson in history since that seems to be a sore subject on these posts. In 1870, Bismark created the modern German state after it crushed the prevailing European power of the time, France. If you would have stopped history at this point, Germany would be the greatest nation that ever existed to that point (Great Britain may have protested that last statement). Fast forward to 1945. Germany was crushed in two World Wars and was divided and occupied. My point; things change. Who is to say Logan couldn't go on a run and win several championships in the next twenty years? Their program is certainly headed in the right direction.

The SEOAL titles are not disregarded, however, they are not talked about as much because of the success the program had after winning them. Why talk about a run of league titles when 8 State Title appearances and 26 playoff berths can be talked about? Now, IF and I mean IF Logan starts making deep playoff runs, then the league titles wont mean as much anymore. Its just simple.
I understand your analogy and here's one from me. The New York Yankees have won 26 MLB Championships. They have also won a bunch of AL East titles. Do you think they talk about their AL East titles? No. They talk about their dynasty in the 1990s. The Atlanta Braves have 3 MLB Championships. However, they won the NL East 15 straight seasons while winning 1 World Series. Do you think they talk about their NL East titles? You bet...because thats what they hang their hat on. Im not saying Ironton is the New York Yankees of Ohio football...but what I am saying is once you have had more than just a league title, then the league title doesnt mean as much as it once did. If all you have had is league titles, then it is definitely something to play for. Logan will understand that soon enough, because I see a deep playoff run coming soon.
