Now you're talking out of both sides of your mouth. All we've heard all week is how Logan shouldn't be playing a D4 team and that Logan SHOULD win and has nothing to gain in this game.

So, is Logan supposed to schedule more "Columbus" teams or Ironton?

Not trying to stir up anything, but just asking the question. Either Logan shouldn't play Ironton b/c of the size difference, or its a great game regardless of school enrollment. Which is it?

I might be comitted to a mental hosptial overnight, so here my prediction. In a very hard hitting game, in which ironton will try to control the clock and have some sucess. Also being played at the tank which is worth 7 points to start with. It will come down to the last mintue and Angle will hit Mays with a pass in the flat and Mays will out run the ironton d-backs to score the winning TD as time expires. So much for ironton table!
Final Score

Logan 24
Tiggers 19

I thought Ironton didn't want to play teams in the League because of the travel ?? And the "poor" gates ??

Seems kinda hypocritical to"Now" want to keep playing.

Zanesville, Marietta, Warren = poor gates.

Logan will bring a crowd. Also...the travel is a lot worse in basketball season than it is football season.

I didnt say Ironton wanted or didnt want to play Logan. I was giving my opinion. Playing a team in football is much different thatn playing in basketball, day of champions in all sports etc etc.

Football is a revenue sport. Its the non revenue sports that hurts the pocket book with travel.

As for Logan playing Ironton Locos? are you asking what i think Logan should do? If so, here goes. I think if Logan plans on staying in the seoal and they want to keep building their D2 football program, i would not schedule ANY non league games under D2 competition. However, if the mindset is to win the conference and if we make the playoffs, thats icing on the cake, I would schedule Ironton. Maybe not every year, but a good home and home series would be nice.

I have heard that Desales still has a desire to play Ironton. That is a physically demanding game for Ironton, but the gate receipts would be good. Especially if the game were to be played on a Saturday night.
i think a non league game with Logan would be great for a Saturday night game.

If my prediction comes true, in about 5 years or less, the SEOAL, unless they expand, will consist of Gallia, Jackson, Logan, Chillicothe, Marietta and Warren. That would give Logan 5 non conference games. I see no problem at that point by scheduling an Ironton or Youngstown Ursuline or Youngstown Mooney type smaller school. Smaller schools are only bad, when the smaller school cannot compete with you on a regular basis AND they dont bring second level points. All of the schools i mentioned, bring that to the table.

I think Logan has answered this question. Gone are New Lexington and Nelsonville and in are Lancaster and Pickerington North.

Next year in addition to Logan's SEOAL games they will play Lancaster (D1), Pick North (D1), Zanesville (D2), and Hamilton Twp (D2).

I think if Logan were going to replace any of the schools (most likely Hamilton) I would prefer Logan go after Canal Winchester or Logan Elm (As long as Bartholomew stays). Or maybe another OCC school (Westervilles/New Albany/Groveport etc.). Maybe even Brookhaven or Beechcroft from the city league?

And I think a series with DeSales or Watterson could be in the cards no matter what division those two are in. We've played DeSales in the past (3-5 overall against the Stallions), but never Watterson.

As the old saying goes, "You play the cards you're dealt." We are in the league and these are all league games. Nothing can be done about that as long as Logan is in the SEOAL. We can argue whther Logan needs to find another venue but I assume the problem is there are no good alternatives available. what the league does provide is good traditional rivalries. Logan will not always have the dominant teams they have fielded lately but with the continuity of the program in place, the feeder programs and the population disparity (yes, size DOES matter), logan will probably continue to win the league in football an inordiante amount of times. So what do you do? I'd like to see a new league with Zanesville, Newark, Lancaster, Canal, Groveport, Chilli and Hamilton Twp. But that is just my wishful thinking.

west -

Logan plays 6 teams that are D1 or D2. They play 1 team that is D4.

that sounds like one too many!

The facts remain unchanged. Ironton has not defeated Logan this century. Ironton still has not won a championship of anytype in the 2000's. The facts are that Ironton is no longer good enough to win the SEOAL.

Why can't we all just enjoy this game and appreciate it for what it is...a meeting between two very successful programs, maybe for the last time. I, for one, plan to enjoy the heck out of just watching it and taking in the atmosphere. These kids are still kids;let them revel in the moment. Tomorrow brings obligations, bills, toil and concern for the players. I hope it is a memorable game and both teams emerge healthy.
