Bulldogs get win number #5 tonight. Glad to see them back on the winning track. been a while for them as well as here at Warren. Feels kinda good don't it? Good Luck tonight, play hard, play, fair play safe.

THE ATHENS BULLDOGS vs. THE VINTON COUNTY VIKINGS

(4-0) Athens heads for McArthur for a showdown with the (0-4) Vikings. Athens is trying to get to (5-0) for the 1st time since ('03). Vinton County trying to avoid dropping 5 games under the .500 mark which would be the best they could finish with winning out.

Athens posses both an Explosive Offense and a Tenacious D that Vinton County will find to be way too much tonite.

With that being said, the weather will be much colder, and wet surfaces will be in play.

ATHENS (4-0) -- 54
VINTON COUNTY -- 0 FINAL

especially now because there d2,say they do get in the playoffs, likely they would draw Logan first game. but yes they could very likely go 10-0 and not make the playoffs.

I did. In fact I had check the rankings before this game and coming into this game Athens at 4-0 was tenth in computer rankings. Welcome to the TVC. Wins against Alexander and Nelsonville could help, but at 8-2 or 9-1 it is my opinion Athens misses the dance. Good luck to the Bulldogs.

It's still only week five so let's put the playoff talk on the back burner for a few more weeks and just focus on Alex. Good job tonight Bulldogs enjoy this one and get ready for next week and let the future take care of it's self.

I'm anxious to see the box score on this one, I'm curious how many rushing yards the Vikings were able gain.

How bout them Bulldogs!!!

From a Member of the Last (5-0) squad keep the focus, enjoy the WIN and remember this...

Alexander is (5-0), they are as hungry as you are, so we need our (A) game...

It is Week Six already...the season has flown by...

Vinton County had a good game plan and controlled the ball in the first quarter. Athens had it for less than 2:00 in the first I believe. Its unfortunate that VC just does not have the personnel depth with all of the injuries they have faced this year.

hawkeyepierce, thanks for taking such good care of me last night. All of the people in the press box were a class act.

VC, keep your heads up, and face the adversity with pride and fight the rest of the way out.

i don't want to complain because athens won, but did anyone other than me noticed that the referees calls (or lack thereof) were suspect at best?
