I was at my first home game last Friday night and saw one of the biggest crowds Ive seen in recent memory; and this was for a winless team. It must have taken me 10 or more minutes at halftime to get through this sea of kids to the athletic boosters booth! And this was for a blowout loss game.

BTW...Ive heard much about SEOAL teams not traveling well on the road, and I was frankly disappointed in the Logan crowd. I know some of their fans were on the home side, and I realize that some fans like to stand along the fence line, but our 1200 seat visitors side was nowhere near full...not even close. And this is for a state ranked team on the way to a league record for consecutive league victories!

GAHS -

I agree that the Logan crowd was disapointing. However, the Hocking County Fair (and the main event, the tractor pull) had a lot to do with that. Not to mention GAHS's 0-3 record and the fact that Logan plays 4 of their first 5 games on the road (that's a lot of Fridays leaving work early for the Hocking Countians).

A week earlier we had an overflow crowd at Hamilton Township who has similar, if not larger bleachers on the visitors side.

The fair, Gallipolis's 0-3 record, and an upcoming trip to Ironton all had a part in the small turn out by the Chieftain faithful.

I would agree that Gallipolis had a tremendous turn out. I was surprised and impressed. I thought the student section seemed as "excited" as ever for the Blue Devils. The lack of school spirit likely has as much to do with an 0-4 record as it does who is coaching the blue.

ironmen can win this one by two touchdowns in my opinion as long as they stay focused and dont play flat. Also if they have a shot to end the game they need to do it and not keep a gallia team in the game unlike last years game

i dont think gallia can score on our ""d"" imo our "o" is right on track...flags are the only thing holding us back...the boys were fired up today getting ready for fri.everyone looked good, left before the jv game started but their spirit was 110%....we win big 42-0

Exactly! Gotta have that killer instinct. When you have a team down, you can't let up. You need to play even harder and put them away for good. IF, and I say IF, Jackson is in that position on Friday, they need to close out the game. Last week, the Ironmen lost a 17-0 lead to the Trojans and it nearly cost them.

it is so rare i agree with Gahs that I have to post. I was shocked at the crowd logan took to Gallia. I beleive when Gallia returns to form this game will be better attended by Chieftain fans. Remember the week before at Hammy the first team started to disappear in the middle of the 2nd quarter.

You feeling alright, 2old.?? Agreeing with 4ever......... Didn't think that was possible...... From what I am hearing it could be 4 or more years before our high powered offense kicks in & the Logan game will once again be competitive... Well if things don't work out we could always schedule some Kentucky, West Virginia, or Canadian teams...

Im interested to learn what the common denominator is that you speak of. I dont know about measuring sticks, but one thing Coach Saunders brought to Gallia Academy football was consistency of leadership. The 117 wins represents not only the most of any coach in school history, but it also speaks of longevity; something lacking in GAHS head football coaches prior to him.

In fact most of the staff that followed him had coached with him for years; IMO making the transition easier. I have great respect for all of our coaches, and in football that begins with Coach Saunders to Coach Bok, and a growing respect for Coach Eddy along with all of their staffs.

Again I dont know measuring sticks, but I look upon all these men as being instrumental in GAHS football being the success it has been. One man builds on the foundation laid, and those who follow continue to build.

Blue,

Perhaps I caught a bug in Gallipolis. But keep reading i think i am on the way to recovery. As for scheduling I think you have discoverd the key. I theink Pt. will be avilable next year and Gallia's good buddies in ironton can help set up a series with Canada. Heck the Canadian team can make one trip and play two Ohio River teams. Imagine the possibilities.

As a Chiefs fan, I was disappointed at our turnout Friday night. I rather take pride in out-numbering the home fans at away games. I don't think it had anything to do with Gallia's record. Locos hit it right on the head-Hocking Co. Fair. Maybe they should move the fair to August; it always takes some focus away from our boys that week no matter the opponent or the venue.

No harm 4ever.... You made some valid points as always. Just a little friendly discussion.... I think both of us want our program to succeed but maybe have different idea on how to go about it....

I think the blue will get there first "W" this friday . The boys are fired up and ready They have played much tougher competion than what they will be facing this friday . The logan team I am not sure if even some of our better teams could hang with them right now they are that goodon both sides of the ball. The Ironton team powerhouse running and tough defense. WE were bout even with hillsboro and athen's well not gonna make any excuses there we just got beat. This friday the blue shows up ready to play we are getting our mix down with a few "young guns" on the field and are hungry for the first win gonna be a heck of a game
GO BLUE

Jackson should have the edge playing at home, but you never what'll happen when these two hit the field.

42 to nothing! That is funny I dont care who you are. That made my day. Have not heard anything that funny for a while. Fact is Gallia is 0-4 . Whether they have played better teams or not. Jackson is 4-0, and won some close games. I believe the score will be close. Since Jackson has had success in the close games, I will go with the Ironmen. Jackson has learned how to win late, the way our qb throws the ball has been very impressive. We have not had that good of a pure thrower for a very long time. He can throw all passes. He can also run well when needed. Dont get me wrong Jackson has won playing as a team. Many players have made plays. It is hard to focus on one player. But our Qb has really impressed me as a fan and has been fun to watch. If the line gives him time it could be a long night for the Blue Devils. Plus our D should not have too much trouble with the wing- t. Jackson 28 Gallia 14. Go Ironmen! As always love too wacth both teams play. The kids on both teams always give it their all. Makes this game special.

ocho stinko,

I agree with you about Kruize. He has played VERY well so far this season. He has completed 27 of 45 pass attempts, which is a 60% completion rate, for 473 yards with 4 TDs and only 1 INT. It doesn't get much more efficient than that. He also has 103 yards rushing and a TD on the ground.

This week is a big game for him for obvious reasons. I know he will be highly motivated, but he has to play within himself. He can't try to do too much against his former teammates. He has 10 other guys out there who will be helping him out. I'm sure that he realizes that and I look for him to have yet another great week leading the Ironmen offense.
