WK6 (1-4) Chesapeake (1-4) @ (4-1) Coal Grove OVC
WK6 (1-4) Chesapeake (1-4) @ (4-1) Coal Grove OVC
Well, conference play starts up next friday and these two teams are going in completely opposite directions.
If you remember, I picked Chessy to finish 2nd in the OVC behind the Hornets; but so far the Panthers have struggled mightily.
Chesapeake gave the Hornets all they wanted last year. Can they make things interesting this year?
My prediction:
Coal Grove 42
Chesapeake 6

you picked them to be 2nd bc you thought this was going to be a down year for the dragons, honestly i did to, but theyve worked hard and are a very good team.
they just need to keep there playmakers healthy.
Re: OVC game: Chesapeake (1-4) @ Coal Grove (4-1)
I really think that Coal Grove is just too much for anyone in the OVC to handle this year.
I know that Coach Davis and Chesapeake, nor anyone in the OVC is just going to roll over though.

I think Coal Grove has too much stregth and athleticsm for Chesapeake this year. Coal Grove by a comfortable margin.

Coal Grove leads the all-time series, 55-20-3.

As much as I want to say the Grove big I will hold reserve on that, Hornet fans just remember, last year there was a team that came into league play at 0-5 and by week 10 they cleaned our clocks, so I don't care what their record is, we cannot take any game lightly from here on out.

As an outsider, I'll say it for you. CG by as much as they want. The reserves should get plenty of playing time in the 4th..
Re: OVC game: Chesapeake (1-4) @ Coal Grove (4-1)
I agree, 2_trap: CG is the #1 team in the region. They have the target on their backs. Although Chesapeake doesn't have the talent they've had before, they have a very good coach in Phil Davis. They kept it close last year and maybe it could have been closer.
However, the game will be at home, on turf, and so the full effect of CG's speed will be felt. Again, this is not last year's team. . . just don't tell them that!
To all the players who might be reading: you've been impressive so far, but you haven't accomplished anything yet. Keep it up and you'll have a season you can tell your grandkids about!

Hornet fans should know by now it don't matter what records are in OVC play. It's all who wants it more.

I wasnt' going to make a prediction but I might as well,
Coal Grove 40
Chesapeake 16
We keep the jug, get our first conference win and get ready for 3 in a row on the road.

Does anyone have any insight on Chesapeake? I have not seen them play. Do they have any quick kids like they usally do? I have looked over theri record, and could see Coal Grove winning this one with ease. Its kinda scary to put this because i know how many player get on here and read it!!
TO CG PLAYERS: Keep your heads straight, and you should win out in the OVC!!! You all are doing an awesome job thus far!

Gabe Freyre is their best back statistically speaking with 435 yards on 51 carries (8.5 ypc; 108.75 ypg) racked up during the Oak Hill, Wayne, Symmes Valley, and West games.
In those 4 games, the Panthers are averaging 154.75 ypg on the ground (4.76 ypc). Yet they've been beaten by at least three scores in all of those games except their 3 OT win against Symmes Valley.
Overall, they've given up 1182 rushing yards on the season (236.4 ypg) on 178 carries (6.64 ypc).
Coal Grove should run all over them.
